With two panels of alternating judges, I hardly think that bias will play a major factor. Now, if one out of six judges would vote against a single debater simply out of personal interest, there would be a 50% chance that that particular judge would be judging that particular debate, anyway, and even then the other two judges could override him/her. Also, speaking to FE debate, I've never seen someone actually vote against someone else due to wishing/not wishing to face him/her, and I've likewise never seen someone vote against someone else due to having faced that person before in the tournament and lost or somesuch nonsense. Never. I've seen biased voting, but the bias stemmed from other, different sources every single time. Of course, I'm no mind reader, but, usually, a person's reasons were fairly obvious. Plus, three of us have already agreed not to participate regardless. At worst, there will be three instances of judge participation, and likely, there will only be two (not sure if Rin wanted to participate as well). Plus, I trust the current panel, barring Rin and Neo (since I don't know them/haven't seen them post much). |
