The strategy changes depending on what specific heavy character you're fighting. The only thing that applies against every heavy character are the combos and by combos I really mean up air up air a bunch of times to up b and dtilt to dash grab or dash attack after they trip from it. Against Dedede just space aeriels and tilts in his face. Make sure you space them well or you'll get shieldgrabbed from his crazy long grab range. Also, do not, do NOT up b when you're off the stage and he's right next to the ledge to try to hit him. If he expects it he'll shield it and then dtilt you when the shuttle loop comes back around and you can't do anything about that. Also, do not edgeguard him aggressively because you'll get swallocided. Just stand about one Meta Knight away from the ledge so that doesn't happen. Against Ike just rush him down. All of his attacks have too much startup lag to deal with Meta Knight's quick attacks. Usually people just spam his jab along with side b and that's pretty easy for Meta Knight to punish. Against Snake you have to rush him down but you have to do it VERY carefully Do not ftilt his shield, only dtilt it because Snake's ftilt can trade hits with Meta Knight's ftilt and then you'll get hit by the first hit of Snake's ftilt twice and the second hit of it for 21 damage. His grenades stop whornado and they are also generally very annoying because if you attack them they blow up with good knockback and damage. If he throws the grenades at you when you know there is enough time before the grenade explodes, just sidestep the grenade, pick it up, glide toss it at him then grab and upthrow him. Once you get Snake above you you get lots of free damage. All of Snake's aeriels are easy to see coming so he'll usually airdodge to prevent himself from getting hit and that is easy to punish with up b or up air. If he hits you away and starts setting up his explosive nonsense, do NOT impatiently run in. Unless he has a land mine set on the stage you can get in after he throws a grenade at you by glide tossing it at him. If you try to dash in you'll have to deal with grenades lying around in conjunction with possibly a nikita and his ftilt or jabs. Edgeguard him with shuttle loops or dairs that hit him into the stage if he's at high enough percent that he'll die if he misses the tech. |
