In a mysterious and foggy world indescribable by human words alone, a lone limousine was flying to an unknown destination. Drinks, alcohol and music (and much Rickrolling) was playing inside of it. Yet, still, there was something mystifying about it. Inside sat a very, very old man with a large nose. To his left stood a young and beautiful woman with long silver hair. In front of them, sitting on a rather plain chair, was a young man; a teenager with honest eyes, gray hair, and simple clothing.

“Welcome to the Velvet Limo,” said the old man, with enthusiasm.

“It’s the Velvet Room, sir,” remarked the woman, almost suddenly.

“Right, right,” replied the old man. “Well then, you do seem to be quite the remarkable guest.” He eyed the teenager with interest. “Quite extraordinary. We have had several guests here in the Velvet Room, but you have stood out to us.”

The old man folded his hands. “My name is Soja, and this here is Crysta,” he said, gesturing towards the young woman with long silver hair.

“You may consider this a fragment of your imagination. In the real world, you are simply sleeping a long sleep, unaware of your surroundings,” explained Crysta.

“Well then,” said Soja, folding his hands yet again. “You will have quite the task ahead of you, but will you be prepared? What you will make of this situation can only be dictated by fate alone. Your largest mystery will unfold in the coming year. My goal is to aid you in solving it, but it is up to you to uncover this task on your own.”

He took out a deck of cards, and randomly chose one, placed it on a table, and turned it over. “The Tower Arcana in the upright position, eh? My, my, something bad will indeed happen soon. You must be prepared…”

“Now then,” Soja took out a peace of parchment and an ink pen. “Sign your name here and we will begin our journey….”

The teenager took the pen from the man and signed his name eloquently. It read “Feez

The FEFF Persona 4 Retelling

Chapter 1 – The Murder

A train zoomed past the country side at rapid speed; it was headed for a rather remote town far away from the big city. Rural Japanese towns were often considered lonely and boring to city-folk, so as he sat there in the train, his mind raced with several questions. Questions about how life would be in this off-beat and isolated place; questions about what new friends he would make in the upcoming year; questions about what types of girls were in such a place…

His parents had gone oversees for work, and he had been sent to Inaba to live with his uncle and cousin. The little note he was clenching in his hand said “Meet me at the closest gas station from where you get off at 5 pm. I’ll be there.

The train stopped and he stepped outside. The cloudy, yet peaceful weather penetrated his body almost instantly. He began to walk amongst the crowd of strangers; he knew no one and didn’t have any intention on becoming close to anyone—this was just another year at another high school in another part of this country. He was used to it. His parents always left him. Nothing new, only this time he’s going to stay with family. Big deal.

As he walked, he saw a commercial playing on a large screen on one of buildings. It was some random idol promoting some drink. Idols were stupid; all they did was sell themselves out to someone and act as nothing more than an object. What a waste of a life. Who cares if they’re hot? Why idolize yourself off of an idiot?

He arrived at the gas station he was to meet his uncle at. He glanced around and saw a man in his mid-years with a young daughter at his side.

“Yo!” yelled the man, running towards him. “Feez, right?”

Feez nodded.

“Nice to have you here! The name’s Rock. I’m your mom's younger brother. Yep, that about sums it up.” He wore a dress shirt and pant, with a coat in one hand over his shoulder. He had a very dominating air about him.

The little girl, undoubtedly Rock’s daughter, was hiding behind his leg. “Aww, don’t be shy, BloodRain; this is your cousin!”

“H-hello,” stuttered BloodRain, “N-nice to meet you! My n-names BloodRain but most people just call me Rain-chan. Hehe.” She was young, probably around 5 or 6, and wore simple clothing.

Feez nodded, smiling.

“Haha, do you remember me?” asked Rock.

“Nope,” responded Feez.

“Well, you were just a baby when I last saw you. My, you certainly have grown quite a bit. Time sure does fly….anyways, I’m going to go ahead and pump some gas.”

Rock went over to his parked car at the gas pump and asked for assistance from the nearest attendant.

“I need to use the bathroom,” screeched Rain suddenly.

The attendant gave directions to Rain and she sped off. He then eyed Feez mysteriously.

Rock noticed and instantly spoke; “He’s just come here from the city. My nephew, the name’s Feez.”

Feez nodded.

“Nice to meet you,” replied the attendant. He walked up to Feez and stretched out his hand, inviting a shake.

At this time, Rain had returned.

Feez took the hand and shook it. “Nice to meet you as well.”

The attendant smiled wryly, then let go. “I suppose my duty here is done. The gas has been pumped. Nice day to you all.” He left.

Feez’s head suddenly began to hurt painfully; however, it was only for an instant.

“Are you okay?” asked Rain. “Did you get carsick?”

“No…I’m fine,” responded Feez.

Rock apparently had failed to take notice, as he had been busy putting the pump and everything back together. “Alright guys, let’s go home!”

The three of them got into the car and drove to Rock’s residence. It didn’t take them long to get there; Inaba wasn’t that big of a town.

They arrived and went inside. The house had a nice and comfy feeling to it.

“I’ll get dinner ready!” said Rain. A few minutes later the three of them were sitting on the table on the floor with a wide variety of food laid out for them.

“So…your parents went overseas for work, and made you come here, eh? Life must be tough for you.”

“I’m used to it,” replied Feez.

“Well, it’s just Rain and I here, so it’ll be nice to have someone else around. Make yourself at home, alright?”

“Yeah…thanks.”

“Heh, don’t mention it. No need to be so formal though, you’re making Rain nervous!”

Rain blushed a little.

“Anyways, let’s eat!” said Rock, with enthusiasm. And just as he was going to pop a piece of juicy chicken into his mouth, his cell phone began to ring.

“Ah, hell.” He answered it.

“Yeah?”

“Uh huh?”

“What? Really?”

“Ah…*sigh*…Alright.”

“Yeah, I’ll be there right away.”

He hung up. “Something’s come up, I gotta go for work. Jeez…at this hour…”

“B-but..!” remarked Rain.

“It can’t be helped Rain…you show him around the house and all, alright? I don’t know how long I’ll be gone.” Rock put on his coat, picked up a bag and headed out as quickly as possible.

Rain, looking sad, turned on the TV. It was the weather forecast. “With storm clouds moving into the west, expect rain throughout the day tomorrow in most areas…”

“Let’s eat,” said Rain, obviously bored.

Feez nodded, and began to dig in. It was kind of silent in the room though…

[ ] What does your dad do?
[x] Cool silence sis
[ ] Cool weather bro

“…oh!” screeched Rain. “Sorry…well… uhmm… don’t worry about Dad. It’s always like this. He’s a detective, so he comes in and out all the time…”

Just then the TV began showing the local news.

“City council secretary Sentenal is under fire for an alleged relationship with a female reporter. His wife, enka ballad sensation Sexy Protoss Bitch, revealed to this station that she will likely pursue damages. In response, FEFF Television has decided to cancel all of announcer Lara-su Echidna’s televised appearances. Until allegations of an affair with Mr. Sentenal are resolved, she’ll remain off the air and out of the public eye.”

“…cool story Mr. TV,” said Rain.

“Hey, you’re learning fast,” said Feez, grinning.

Rain changed the channel; it was a commercial for Junes, which, as Feez had heard at least, was like a huge monopoly chain in the area (like Wal-Mart).

“At Junes, every day is Customer Appreciation Day. Come see for yourself, and get in touch with our products! Every day’s great at your Junes!”

“Every day’s great at your Junes!” repeated Rain, in a lyrical manner.

They finished their dinner in peace, talking about several things. Feez got to know Rain a little bit better…

At night, Feez went up to the room Rock had lent him. He was tired…it would be best to sleep early. He went over to his futon, jumped onto it, and quickly went into a deep sleep.

……

He was running across an endless hallway with a sword in hand. The area was consumed with an incredibly thick fog. Why he was running and why he had a weapon he did know. He just knew he did.

He heard a voice; “If you seek the truth, come on ahead.”

The hallway suddenly came to an end with a door; Feez opened it.

Inside was…something. He did not know what.

“Try all you like…” echoed the voice.

However, Feez suddenly brought his hands to the air and crushed something. Something popped out of whatever was crushed; it was as if it had been summoned. The Thing lashed forward and began attacking the something

“It seems you do possess a special ability,” echoed the voice again. “However…”

The fog began to thicken. “It will take you longer to reveal the truth. Whether you can or not will depend…I look forward to it.”

….

The dream had ended. Feez woke up suddenly. It was morning; he started school today. He got up, got ready, and went downstairs. Rain was cooking breakfast.

“Oh, you’re up!? Dad’s still not home…he’s probably still at work. I hope everything’s alright.”

They ate in silence. Afterwards, they walked together to school. Rain showed Feez the direction to his high school and then sped off towards her own school.

Feez was about to enter the school gates when he noticed a guy riding a bicycle in a rather odd fashion. It was almost like he barely had any control over it. He slammed against a trashcan and fell over.

“Fuuck..shiittt…ughhh!” groaned the guy.

“Wow, what a loser,” said Feez under his breath, ignoring the pained student.

Classroom 2-2. Several students were talking to each other about various things. Some were talking about a certain Mr. Laharl, others talking about some kind of accident. It was just general school murmur.

“Hey guys, I heard there’s going to be a transfer student!”

“Huh, really?”

Three students, a guy and two girls, were sitting next to each other. They found this news rather interesting. “A transfer student, eh?” said one of the girls with short hair. “Just like you, right PZ?”

“FUUUCK MY KNEE. FUUUCK MY BIKE. FUUUUUCK.”

“What’s with him?”

“No idea,” answered the other girl. This one hand long black hair.

Suddenly, a very ugly figure walked into the room. “AIGHT YOU NIGGAZ. MY NAME IS KING LAHARL AND I AM YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER. YOU NIGGAZ THINK YOU’RE HOT SHOTS OR SOME SHIT, BUT IMMA GONNA MAKE YOU COOL LIKE ME. YEAAH. ALSO, WE HAVE A FUCKING TRANSFER STUDENT FROM THE CITY. HE PROBABLY SUCKS DICK BECAUSE THE CITY SUCKS DICK AND HE ALSO PROBABLY IS A LOOOOSEEER! NOW INTRODUCE YOURSELF YOU LIL’ BITCH.”

[ ] The name’s Feez. Feezus Christ.
[ ] Hello, nice to meet you ^_^
[x] Yo, you fucking goddamn failure of a human being, did you just call me a loser? Don’t tell me you did, because if you did, somebody gonna get a hurt real bad. Real bad.

Feez suddenly felt his courage increase tremendously. Everyone in the class was startled. This Feez must be a God or something to stand up to Laharl, the most gigantic faggot ever.

“You…fucking piece of shit!” yelled Laharl. “Fuck you! FUUU—“

“Uh, sir?” said one of the girls who had been talking to PZ earlier. “Can he sit here?” she asked, indicating the empty seat next to her.

“Huh? Yeah, you hear that you fucking transfer student? Go sit there.”

“Okay,” responded Feez, rather calmly. He walked over to the girl and sat down next to her.

“He’s the worst, isn’t he?” she asked.

“Yep. The worst faggot,” responded Feez.

Feez could hear several students talking about him from all around the class. They were feeling sorry for him; apparently this King Laharl was the worst homeroom teacher ever.

King Laharl began talking about a lot of random crap that Feez thought was useless. He talked and talked for over 9000 hours.

“Alright, that’s all for today I guess,” said King Laharl. He was about to pick up his bag and leave when suddenly the school intercom rang; “ATTENTION ALL TEACHERS. PLEASE REPORT IMMEDIATELY TO THE FACULTY OFFICE. ALL STUDENTS, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CLASSROOMS FOR ANY REASON.”

“Well. You heard that shit, you worthless fags,” said King Laharl. “Don’t any of you move.” He ran out of the room.

Feez could hear sirens from outside. Was the police outside? Had there been an accident?

He could hear students talking amongst themselves. Some of them were crowing around the window.

“Man, what’s going on? I can’t see anything outside. Frickin’ fog…”

“Yeah, like every time it rains, a huge ass fog follows. Tell me about it…”

“Yo, did you hear the police is looking all over for that one announcer? Lara-su Echidna.”

“What, really? I heard that she was…”

“REALLY?”

One of the boys walked from the window and headed towards the long black-haired girl. "H-hey, Kazyen, is it true that that one announcer, Lara-su Echidna, was staying at your family’s inn?"

“…I have no comment,” replied Kazyen.

“Yeah, thought so…” replied the boy.

The short-haired girl walked up to Kazyen. “Man, how much longer is this going to take?”

“No idea, Tiara.”

“Hmm…hey! Did you try that thing I told you about?”

“Huh?”

“You know…about the rainy nights!?”

“Oh…no, not yet. Sorry Tiara.”

Just then, the school intercom spoke again; “ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS. THERE HAS BEEN AN INCIDENT INSIDE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. POLICE OFFICERS HAVE BEEN DISPATCHED AROUND THE SCHOOL ZONE. PLEASE STAY CALM AND QUICKLY LEAVE THE SCHOOL GROUNDS. DO NOT DISTURB THE POLICE OFFICERS AND IMMEDIATELY GO HOME!”

“Incident?”

“What happened?”

Feez got up, intending on heading home. Just then Tiara and Kazyen walked up to him.

“Heey,” said Tiara. “You gonna go home? Why don’t you walk with us? The name’s Tiara, and this here is Kazyen. I sit next to you!”

Feez nodded. “Nice to meet you two.”

“Nice to meet you,” said Kazyen, smiling.

They were about to head out of the classroom, when they were stopped by PZ.

“Dude. Dude.”

“What?” asked Tiara, annoyed.

“Dude, man. Dude.”

“WHAAAT?”

“DUDE. HOLY DUDE.”

“…”

“This movie. It was incredible, Tiara! B-but…dude. Dude, man, sorry.” PZ quickly thrusted the DVD into Tiara’s hands and tried to run away. However, Tiara, who was rather skilled in the martial arts, caught him.

“What did you do to my DVD!” she yelled, kicking him in the crotch. “OH MY GOD IT’S ALL CRACKED. MY…SOJAZILLA! IT’S ALL CRACKED!

“Fuck, oh my god, I am dying here,” said PZ, in obvious pain.

“Screw you!” yelled Tiara. She and Kazyen walked out. Feez ignored PZ and walked out as well.

They walked outside of the school grounds, when they were suddenly confronted by a random guy.

“You’re…Kaz, right?” asked the boy.

“W-what? What do you want?” asked Kazyen.

“Wanna go out with me?” he asked.

“What!?”

Suddenly, a bunch of students who were in the area became interested. “Did that guy seriously just ask out the most popular girl in the whole school? Not only that, he called her “Kaz”. Wow!”

“No,” replied Kazyen, quite blank about it.

“FINE, GEEZ!” yelled the boy, and he ran off.

“What…was that about?” asked Kazyen, confused.

“Well, he was asking you out on a date,” replied Tiara.

“…”

“But…to be honest, there was definitely something creepy about that guy.”

Just then, PZ came out with his damaged bike. “Sup guys, sup. Well, looks like Kazyen turned down another guy. Cool story sis, cool story. Anyways, cya’ll later!” PZ got on his bike and rode away.

That guy just said “cool story!””, said Feez to himself.

The three of them walked together. Feez filled them in on why he had transferred here from the big city.

“So, you moved here because of your parents’ job?” asked Tiara. “Sounds rough man. Well! Can’t do much about it. There really isn’t anything in Inaba though. Well, I guess there is the Amagi Inn, which Kazyen’s family runs.”

“Huh?” Kazyen was startled. “It’s really nothing but an old inn…”

“Ohh, no way, it’s the Pride of Inaba after all! It’s been around for generations man!”

“So…tell me, you think Kazyen’s cute, right?” asked Tiara, all of a sudden, in a different voice.

[ ] Yeah, she’s fucking hot.
[ ] I would fuck her all night just like every other person on FEFF.
[x] Nah, I have higher standards, nah mean?

“Hahaha, good one. You took that question better than PZ did back when he first transferred!”

“Come on, Tiara, not this again…” said Kazyen, disgruntled.

“She’s really popular, but never has had a boyfriend. Everyone worships her though.”

Kazyen just ignored this last comment.

Suddenly, Tiara noticed a crowd gathering near them. “Hey, what’s that?” They walked towards it. People were speaking in hushed voices.

“Wow, who could imagine such a thing hanging from an antenna!?”

“It was terrifying. I can’t believe a dead body was hanging from there.”

“Wait, what?” said Tiara. “Did she just say dead body?”

Rock emerged from the crowd. He noticed Feez and walked towards him. “Hey, what’re you doing here at this hour?!”

“Nothing, just walking home.”

“Figured as much…”

“You know this guy?” asked Tiara.

“I’m Detective Rock, Feez’s uncle and current guardian. Heh, I hope you girls get along with him. But you guys should go straight home!”

Suddenly a young officer ran towards a field and threw up, disgusted.

“Greth! How long are you gonna act like a fucking rookie! You want me to send you out of here?!”

“S-sorry,” said Greth, the young officer.

“Go wash your face, dammit! We gotta go and get some more information!” Rock and Greth ran off.

“…was this what that announcement at school was about?” wondered Tiara. “A dead body hanging on an antenna? For real?!”

“I can’t believe it,” remarked Kazyen.

“Yeah…let’s go home, guys,” said Feez.

“G-good idea!” replied Tiara, scared. She and Kazyen ran off.

That night, Feez and Rain were watching the news on TV. Rock still hadn’t come home…he was most likely still busy with work.

“Around noon today, a woman was found dead near the Samegawa River in Inaba. The deceased has been identified as Lara-su Echidna, as revealed by the Inaba Police Department.”

“The Inaba Police Department is where Dad works!” yelled Rain.

“The body was found hanging on an antenna near a civilian’s house’s roof.. Why the body was found in such a state is unknown. The police are still investigating whether this was a suicide or homicide incident. A thick fog common to the are has slowed their progress, and further plans may or may not be delayed due to it.”

“That’s scary…” said Rain. She changed the channel to a Junes commercial.

“Every day’s great at your Junes!”

“Every day’s great at your Junes!” mimicked Rain.

“Cool song sis,” replied Feez.

Rain seemed to be lost in her song. Feez decided to let her be and go back to his room. So, it seems a murder had taken place. What did this mean? Who was the culprit? What was going on? Why did it all start when he came? And what was up with all the dreams he had been having lately? Tired as hell, he decided to go to sleep and see what tomorrow had in store for him.
