You know what I don't see at all in the article? Any of them blaming the United States, Bush, etc. They're afraid of terror attacks. The climate of fear, the loss of jobs, the attacks against women with burqas, the United States is responsible for none of it.

Keep in mind this also a 2006 article, during the worst years of the war. I'd like to speak to this women now that violence is controlled. As if 16 women in a country of millions was actually a representative sample...
The Iraq War brought about a decline in women's rights. The United States started the Iraq War. Therefore, the United States brought about a decline in women's rights by starting the Iraq War. Keep in mind this extends more from the realm of violence as well, as now that fundamentalist sects have gained popularity in Iraq I'm certain religious laws will attempt to revert Iraq to a state before their progressive reforms regarding women.

I see what you mean though. WWII was sixty years ago, and anti-German sentiment is everywhere I look! Slavery is a poor example, because racism was ongoing.
Slavery isn't a poor example because it deals with a prevalent feeling. Before World War II, anti-German sentiment wasn't prevalent throughout the world. However, before the Iraq War, you can say that anti-American sentiment existed: enter 9/11, enter Osama Bin Laden's attacks on the United States other than 9/11. Much like racism, anti-American sentiment is a prevalent idea throughout the world. The scary part is how easy it is to rally people around the the cause of hatred: see post World War I Germany.

1. Bush wanted to go to war before 9/11? I wonder if that was because Saddam TRIED TO KILL HIS DAD, a point I noticed you completely skipped. That single act is justification for any war, if the rape chambers, torture chambers, and massacre of his own people weren't enough. And it's not like it was a novel idea. Congress had already passed Public Law 105-235, demanding the President take action on Iraq, and declaring their opinion that Iraq had WMD's.
OMG THEY TRIED TO KILL DAD... ten years before the Iraq War started. Unless the United States military is how the president settles his personal vendettas, the assassination attempt was so far removed from the current situation in Iraq that you can't even begin to justify a old assassination attempt as a just cause for the war. Obviously had they recently tried to pick off American figures I would agree, but you're citing information from too far ago. It's equivalent to the United States going into World War II because the Germans sunk the Lusitania.

2. It was Hans' word against the best intelligence agencies in the world. What were we supposed to think?
You mean Hans and his team of inspectors who had, I don't know, searched Iraq for said weapons compared to the CIA who didn't actually try to find these weapons in Iraq? Hans isn't a slouch.

3. Of course inviting the UN meant nothing. When has the UN ever decided to do anything other than decide not to do anything? It was a courtesy. But my point was, we don't need UN approval for anything.
What the fuck are you talking about? We - the United States - started the UN as means of trying to establish world peace by preventing nations from acting strictly in self-interest and thinking of the global consequences of their actions. I mean, inviting the UN doesn't suddenly make an action OK. "Let's kill everyone, want to help us UN?" doesn't justify killing everyone.

I return to a major part of my first post which is that Iraq tried to murder our President, which is an act of war if I've ever heard one.
The British tried to tax us without representation. This means war. :nomnomnom:

You gave Inui his first (and last?) sexual experience, didn't you? That's historic.
