Keep in mind that for the vast majority of detainees previously tortured, they will never be tortured again. If the threat which can be prevented through torture is grave, lasting, and certain, I think it is unethical to act as a bystander if the information is available and can prevent the loss of hundreds - possibly thousands - of lives.
