Citizen's arrest is part of the law though, does that count as vigilantism? Here's a hypothetical my roommate came up with: Lots of times, police have definite evidence against a perpetrator, which then gets thrown out for technical reasons. If there was definite proof that could never be used, say a thrown out confession to raping and murdering dozens of women, would you finish what the police couldn't? He said yes, I say probably not. I see what Yzarc is saying to an extent, but I'd say an instance where you are 100% sure someone will kill/rape again is highly unlikely, and theoretically impossible. |
