Canas vs Isadora...looks hard. Anyhow, I could probably go into depth about how Canas has a monocle which is pwnage, but who the hell would deny that anyway? If for some reason you don’t believe that...just look at this German Marshal, Hugo Sperrle.![]() If I were better at coming up with 1337 jokes, I’d probably fuck around with Isadora being a woman or something, but that is probably counterproductive, so instead I’ll get straight to the point of this debate; why Canas is better than Isadora: When Canas joins, he is somewhat underleveled. A lot of your units should be around level 11 or so, Hector, Oswin, and Dorcas for example might be even higher like 15 since they pwn earlygame. The only unit who should be a lower level than Canas besides garbage that isn’t being used is Raven. This is good news for Canas, because when you use him, he is helping the EXP rank through efforts gone to level him up. Isadora on the other hand is overleveled when she joins, so anything she does is bad for your EXP rank. Even more in Canas’s favor when it comes to the EXP rank is staves upon promotion. I think Reikken beat this one to death a long time ago, but basically staves are amazing because in this game, killing is not hard for most units, but you always need healers in order to make sure you don’t die when you take hits. Since staves don’t compete for combat EXP, they are always a net gain for EXP, so this is good for Canas. Even if you wanted to promote Canas extremely early just so he’d get that +4 AS, he would still be helpful for the EXP rank since he would get to heal ppls, and with that impressive durability boost (4HP, 2Def, 2Res)) he gets on promotion, he wouldn’t be forced to engage in combat as often while getting to heal people. Right, now I expect I will have to cover how Canas actually does in combat and stuffz. Well, firstoff, Flux is a pretty good weapon. Even though it lowers Canas’s AS by 1, it costs the same per use as a Javelin (20), and has the same mt as a Handaxe (7), only it’s as accurate as an Iron Lance (80). That’s a pretty good combination right there. Thunder is basically the same but has less mt, while Fire is more accurate (like that matters) and cheaper but a lot less powerful. All in all, Canas’s weapon is pretty efficient for what it can do. You should be able to 2hko most physical dudes with it minus the ones that are extremely gay (I wish I had good numbers on enemy stats). On the chapter Canas joins, a lot of the Pirates should be slaughtered by Raven, but there is one that wields a swordslayer that Raven will stay away from, so kill that dude with Canas since you’re ranged, and you got an easy level up coming soon. The boss isn’t ranged, and Canas does more damage to it than your other magic users (who probably can’t damage him at all lol) so Canas can get free EXP by poking him with Flux. There is a mage that wields Elfire that Canas can handle too. And there is an arena, and there are other pirate dudes that are weighed down a lot. So maybe you’ll get 2 levels for Canas on this chapter. On the next chapter, there’s a ton of mercs that you can’t kill in one round with anyone except Raven iirc, who doesn’t like taking hits from them, so the next best thing for dealing with them is ranged attacks. There are also a lot of Shamans and Steel Lance Pegasus Knights, which Canas does very well against. Canas should be like level 12 after this chapter. It would have been awesome if you got Luna on Chapter 19 since Uhai is gay, but alas, that comes on chapter 20. Chapter 19x is pretty good for Canas too since there are a ton of Knights who get doubled by him, and there is plenty of terrain to abuse. Several of the Knights are ranged, so having a magic user to take them down is ideal. By now he should be at least level 14. Chapter 20 has a good number of Knights, fighters, and mages, which he does well against. Canas is a good unit for finishing off the boss on this chapter IIRC since Luna is available. By the time Isadora joins, Canas should be around level 16-17, and promoting him is a very good option by now. Canas lvl 17/1 Flux 21.1 atk, 14.1 AS, 109.6 hit, 6.0 crit - - 37.5 avo, 31.3 hp, 9.3 def, 14.1 res, 9.3 critavo Isadora lvl 1 Iron Sword 18.0 atk, 16.0 AS, 118.8 hit, 5.8 crit - - 42.0 avo, 28.0 hp, 8.0 def, 6.0 res, 10.0 critavo I gave her an Iron Sword because that is liek, the only weapon she can wield that doesn’t drop her AS. Well, there is one Wyvernslayer, but other dudes want that too. She’s winning evade slightly until she equips a heavier weapon. If she wields an iron lance, she loses her evade advantage completely, while she has less evade and def and res than Canas if she goes any heavier, like axes for example. She does get WTA to help with that, but Canas doesn’t have to take counters in the first place. The enemy is more likely to target Isadora overall since she has less concrete durability than he does. Due to her low str, she has trouble onerounding a lot of stuff even though she doubles (don’t get me wrong, quite a few of your unpromoted units that don’t use magic should be having trouble too), and in the meantime she’s hurting your EXP rank since she’s already promoted. Canas however is still able to help the EXP rank since there is a lot of healing that needs to be done, and when he needs to be used for combat, he’s doing better. His offense lead only increases against the majority of enemies since he targets res, and since the majority of enemies in this game have fail AS but high defense, which Isadora has no hope of onerounding without very expensive weaponry. Flux isn’t the cheapest thing out there, but it’s actually onerounding stuff and he’s not taking counters. Canas is able to double everything that Isadora can double besides the Thief, and he can double the boss with Flux, while she can't with axes. You could probably mention supports, but it matters little, since Canas still beats her in offense and concrete durability even after those, and gets to help the EXP rank through staves. Canas can at least get a C with Pent lategame, since Erk should have most of his slots filled by amazing units like Serra and Priscilla. Then lategame, Canas is for the most part flooring Isadora since now he has higher staff levels, is still onerounding everything a lot more reliably and while he may have a bit less evade, he has more HP and def and res so he’ll take those hits significantly better. While bosses aren’t the majority of enemies, he’s also 1000x better at killing those than Isadora since they liek always have existent defense stats and Canas has Luna to bypass that. So we can expect his level lead, and thus his offense lead to increase by even moar over Isadora. To sum it up, neither of them are spectacularly awesome the chapters when they join. Canas however helps the EXP rank more leveling up to promotion and using staves, and when Isadora joins and moving up to lategame and endgame, he’s clearly better. And if that wasn’t enough, he pwns people on the final, while Isadora is pretty lol on the final. That’ll do for now...Now I’m off doing work, and catching some Zs I guess.
