Beta-opt ins were also going on for the general public, but at this point, opt-ins are probably closed. Blizzard has also been saying that the Beta will probably take place sometime this summer. So TeamLiquid has both interviewed people who have already received a Beta Invite (such as Nony, former top USA player, former eStro Progamer), and tried to figure out the exact data the beta will start. According to the hard math right there, SC2 beta begins July 17th. Or maybe sometime before or after that. Who knows, its Blizzard. I opted in for the Beta, so I REALLY HOPE I get in, but even if I don't, Beta coming soon implies that SC2 should release sometime within the year.
