Fine and Most Esteemed Prince Reach Sento Thracia, To be forthright, we are caught in a situation in which we must engage in equal profiteering as the only way that we can remain neutral. Looking at the political climate, Miletos looks to beseige Barhara with upmost speed and efficiency, and would nary care to turn their blades towards us as long as their route through the sands of Yied is secured. Should we let them pass freely, we will be seen as enemies to the great nation of Grandbell, a situation that we certainly do not wish to be in. And should we deny the opportunity for passage, we will be put to the blade, a situation that I believe you can understand us choosing to avoid. Although this may seem to be naught but pure profiteering, we are merely allowing both sides to argue over whether or not we will let them use our roads, using their own economic situation as a fair stick by which we can measure their worth, offering preference to none, and thusly drawing the ire of none, for it would be their own choice to secure our roads for their purposes or not. O prince, while I cannot in any way avert your mind from whatever stance it may have had, currently possesses, or will eventually take, I do wish for you to know that this is our finest attempt to secure our own borders and minimize all possible repercussions. Signed, Marquise Lachesis of Yied |
