I understand that. I'm not asking GFX to be removed, I'm simply asking it to have a sub-board for itself that's still under the Fan-Art corner.
Yes, I know. Not everyone can use Photoshop and achieve spectacular results and most people do use official art, but that's one of the things that I seem to get frustrated on. Normally, I spend hours simply drawing and coloring an image until I find it to be something I enjoy looking at but when you have a base of official art to work on, adding effects in to make it better just seems so... Well, empty for me. No matter how beautiful the end result will be, it still lingers in my mind that it's still "not original". I-I'm really sorry to everyone for ranting like this... I'm not sure why I'm peeved like this too ><; It's just that I'm so used to having the two separated in other boards xD;;; |

I dunno. After learning how to create certain effects in photoshop, a person like me could be turning out incredible looking graphics in fractions of the time it would still take me to draw something of equal quality. It's not so simple in traditional art. You could learn how to create a certain effect with simplicity, but actually making something with it is much, much more difficult. That is my experience. And it's totally off-topic. I've wondered why GFX and art aren't separated, too. I've always drawn a difference between them seeing how I have a personal topic for GFX and one for art. |

Drawing by hand is indeed harder than using Photoshop. For instance, I'm pretty horrible at drawing, yet I'm a pretty accomplished GFXer. We don't have enough artists to warrant it a separate board. And if we were to make them separate, then where would we move all the fan art competitions...unless we have ANOTHER subforum for that alone. |

But what harm could it do to have a hand drawn art competition TOPIC. You won't need a sub-forum or anything. I kinda agree with Saori-chan...but I didn't want to say anything earlier. |

There would only be like 2 people that would compete, it's a waste of effort to do that. That's the harm in it. I think the name 'Fan Art' is misleading, though, if graphics is the main part of the board. Maybe it should be 'Art and GFX' or something like that. |

Well, I don't really see the point in separating them. In my opinion, both GFX and Hand-drawn art require separate skills, and a different set of knowledge. People have a knack for one, the other, or both. But to me, no matter how you look at it, they are both technically, "art." However, renaming it to Art and GFX is not a bad idea at all. I support it. |

So in other words, it would be a waste of time to provide fairness to the people who compete in the contests? Most people seem to lack the realization that by placing GFX and hand-drawn art work in one contest thread, GFX obviously gains the upper hand. Having someone compete with official and professionally done artwork is insane... Especially since the people who submit modified artwork would already improve the base image they had. It's so discouraging to see contests like that. A lot of people who create hand-drawn art tend to resign joining contests because it's already a given that they will lose. And that's one of the reasons why I strongly wish the two to be separated, if not, at least have a different contest thread as Light Yagami proposed.
...Isn't that already enough reason to do so? xD;;; |

^Santi's won a couple of contests and has placed 2nd/3rd place in others. He's currently one of the top leaders in the contests in terms of points. I don't see how he will continue to be, or ever will be, not willing to join the contests because he's "guaranteed to lose." We're not going to create a seperate subforum for hand-drawn art because one or two people want there to be. And another thing is that we can't even trust the people campaigning for these things. Yes, I'm looking at YOU, Light Yagami. You wanted the Ranking board to incorporate hand-drawn art as well, and yet I haven't seen you drop in the two or so months it's been there. o__O (forgive me if there are inaccuracies) It's like asking for a forum chat. Just not going to happen, there isn't enough support for it, and it'll eventually die out. |
