I don't know if this should go on the General or Debates section and I don't know if this is a good idea, but here I go: Discuss about it.XD How does the racism happen? Why? and what make the people racist? Color or...which i think: Personality of a race? |

jsut like the "war" topic, it's part of what humans are, they group with those they feel similar to, and some groups become dominant over others through circumstances and that's when you get stuff like slavery. |

Stereotyping people. Black= Uneducated Jewish= Poor Mexican= Poor, uneducated, and raised carelessly Indian= Strict and very studious Italian= Rich I have friends of all the above types and I have no prejudices. I'm just naming all the stereotypes I can think of at the moment. |

No people think jewish people are rich.Usally when you think of somone sterotyping someone jewish they say like hes an accountant or somthin like that. |

Racism comes from a lot of sources. Stereotypes are examples of it, and once they've been established, they contribute. People spread and create racism through fear, dislike of the unsual or different, and through a dislike of comingling. If races of people didn't tend to band together like they do, stereotypes would not take hold. |

Racism doesn't really come from fear in my opinion. It comes from the fact that people are used to others like them, and if a different race comes in, they react differently. It also depends on how people are raised and the people around them. And you forgot lazy for the mexican stereotype, AG....:P |

Well, a lot of people don't realize they're being racist in terms of stereotypes since they're so widely accepted. I can say I make fun of my friends for being "the typical Asian" sometimes. I think racism has a lot to do with personal experiences. If you grow up in an area where all the people you meet that are, say, Hispanic and poor, it gets imprinted in the mind. What your parents and peers teach you matter too. |

True, where I live it's pretty much 100% European ancestry, and i do seem to feel uncomfortable around other races when i have no reason to, I do not understand it. |

People just love feeding off of each other, and demeaning them when they can. At least, some do ;). It just makes them wanting to do it more. I am about 75% Irish( I am Irish-American) and people are constantly calling me "Drunk Trash" "Wild Idiot" etc. Don't let them know it disturbs you. It only makes things worse. |

That's exactly what I mean. In my area, just about everybody is either a poor hispanic or a poor asian. Naturally, they're envious of the rich people in town, which are the white people. Growing up like that, they disagree with white beliefs and just turn racist. And that's another thing...when a white person stereotypes, it is racist, but when any other race does it, it's usually a joke. I find that odd. |

Rofl... Anyways, I agree with what Pendant said, it's about personal experiences, and you will sometimes people will stereo type based on what a certain race does around THEM. Maybe some kid grew up in the ghetto, and always saw black people shooting each other up, and thought all black people were like that, because the ones around them were. Maybe someone grew up around a bunch of smart asian kids who knew matrial arts, and thus thought all asians were smart, and knew martial arts. |
