With more and more FE fans looking at the older JP-only titles, I wonder if anyone here came across this one? Even the most battle-hardened FE fans sometimes shun this title for no reason beyond "the black sheep of the family". Excellent NES title. There's a dodgy near-complete translation patch available out there, but I'd definitely recommend against using it. A fun fact: This game takes place in the same world (not continent) as the original Fire Emblem and Monshou no Nazo, but without Marth. Hence the "Gaiden" in its name, and not "Two" or any equivalent variation. The only FE with a sword/magic/heal wielding lead character... Cellica owns all.  (You get to meet the statistically best arrays of FE characters in this game, too. Characters max most stats upwards in the 40s; more than anyone from later FE games could ever imagine besting. XD) |

I've played through a good portion of it so far, and I think its really, really good. Different in that you travel around RPG style, but still really good nonetheless. |

I like the game ^^. FEG handled the two "Lords" system pretty well. I was pretty disappointed when I found Eirika and Ephraim didn't truly split up like Alm and Celica did :/. Also the freedom of map walking was refreshing too

Yup, I had that kind of expectations too, when the news of The Sacred Stones first came out. But it's all right, Cellica's probably one of the best weapon/magic combination character that have ever graced Fire Emblem. Unlike classes like Mage Fighters/Knights who usually have below average STR, making their sword-wielding abilities minimally useful. (But I suppose Eyrios was pretty decent with both too, as far as hybrid classes are concerned, but nothing comparable to our mage lord) |
