when I play games, like rpg's, I use my mind to think of where to go, and I actually use it. Games like Harvest Moon don't help you out though.

I don't belive RPG's give much to intelligence, it's most of the time blatantly obvious, but little mini-games that you have to use your brain for are useful. In my view, FPS's are better, it trains your eyes and hands to react quicker, which can give you more agility so to say when doing everyday activites. Puzzle games are the most useful, contributing to problem solving skills and learning techniques to use later in life, good for kids.

I have not played a single game in over a year. They have completely screwed my life up. I am pretty shy, and rather anti-social. That could of course be hormones, but I do not know yet. Who knows what my first game that I ever played was? Mortal Kombat II. I thought it was soo awesome, I dedicated my life to it. I thought it was so cool, whenever I went to a friend's house I would say, " Hey, let's play Mortal Kombat!" I was 4 at the time. I only broke his arm really bad. Quite frankly, games have also shown me a bright side of my future.
I am going to get emancipated pretty soon. And when I do, I will be ready. Games have hardened my personality; I am kind of sour. So, I can take cruel punishment, whatever for the real world. The point is, games are good and bad, but there are sacrifices for both.

As for violence in Video Games, violence, even in a realistic context, itn't necessarily bad. But games like that need only be played by those who can understants its just a game. For example, I'm 19, I can play GTA, enjoy it, and then not go murder people in the street, rob stores, etc etc, because I understand that GTA is simply a game, that its fiction. Younger children would be more impressionable, and Parents should keep them away from games like that.

The greatest violence by video games isn't impressions that violence is okay. it's normally, "Let's play James Bond! Let me get my dad's pistol!" or "Let's play Fianl Fantasy! You can be Cloud; take this kicthen knife!"

Well if a kid is really that stupid then that's just sad. I babysit and I have never met a child that dumb. Anyway it's the parents fault for letting a child that young play those video games. They're not really appropriate for children under 12 at least. At kids that age don't say "Hey let's play James Bond". They have labels that say T and M for reasons. Just like movies. Parents generally don't let their 7 year old watch R rated movies.

If a kid gets so badly affected by a game that they would stab someone, they need to either go to juvy or have extreme therapy. I think violent games aren't good for anyone because it provokes opinions such as, "Wasn't that sick when his arm got cut off?" I too am guilty of this.
