Swordmasters vs. Heroes This argument is solely statistical. Not which class is cooler, not which characters in each class are cooler, etc. All stats are based off of accurately calculated averages of characters at level 20. All stats are stats in Hard Mode for Fire Emblem 6 and Hector’s Hard Mode for Fire Emblem 7. Thus, it is possible to have a stronger or weaker unit than that listed here due to the fact that Hard Mode bonuses vary. Fire Emblem 6 # of PCWS(promoted characters w/Swords) – 25 # of PCWA(promoted characters w/Axes) – 20 # of PCWL(promoted characters w/Lances) – 16 # of PCWB(promoted characters w/Bows) – 10 This matters because swords are used by both Swordmasters and Heroes whereas Axes are used only by Heroes. Winner - Hero Average Total Stats of Characters Fir – 206 Rutger – 203 Karel – 192 Dieck – 209 Ojay – 201 Echidna - 163 Average Swordmaster Total Stats – 190.3 Average Hero Total Stats – 191 Winner – Hero In following table, stats are based off of optimal weapon. The optimal weapon for the Swordmasters is the Killing Edge whereas the optimal weapon for the Heroes is the Silver Sword. The optimal weapon for each class deals the highest damage but does still gives the wielder two hits. ![]() Number of turns for supports Fir Bartre - 7/20/27 turns Noah - 25/30/40 turns Karel - 10/20/27 turns Rutger - 59/60/80 turns Shin - 30/30/40 turns Rutger Clarine - 25/30/40 turns Dayan - 59/60/80 turns Dieck - 50/60/80 turns Karel - 59/60/80 turns Fir - 59/60/80 turns Karel Fir – 10/20/27 turns Bartre – 20/30/40 turns Rutger – 59/60/80 turns Zeiss – 59/60/80 turns Noah – 59/60/80 turns Dieck Ward - 25/30/40 turns Lot - 25/30/40 turns Thany - 25/30/40 turns Clarine - 59/60/80 turns Klein - 20/60/80 turns Rutger - 50/60/80 turns Ojay Lilina - 25/30/40 turns Barth - 25/30/40 turns Lalum - 59/60/80 turns Wendy - 30/30/40 turns Bors - 30/30/40 turns Echidna Geese - 59/60/80 turns Lalum - 20/30/40 turns Gonzales - 59/60/80 turns Ward - 59/60/80 turns Lott - 59/60/80 turns Average # of turns for Swordmaster to reach A support – 141 Average # of turns for Hero support to reach A support – 153 Winner – Swordmaster Summary of Fire Emblem 6 Less Promoted Characters can use Axes than Swords. Heroes average better than Swordmasters. Swordmasters deal 5 less damage but have 5 higher hit, 47 higher critical, and 9 higher dodge then Heroes. Swordmasters take less time to reach an A support than Heroes do. Heroes take less damage from weapon wielding units. Swordmasters take less damage from magic wielding units. Better class in Fire Emblem 6 – Swordmaster; Echidna drags Heroes down and the critical bonus for Swordmasters is insanely high and critical is rolled before hit. 2 Swordmasters receive hard mode boosts, no Heroes do. Heroes average better than Swordmasters. Swordmasters deal 10 less damage than Heroes but have a 4 higher chance to hit, a 46 higher chance to critical, and an 11 higher chance to dodge. Swordmasters take less time to reach an A support with a character. Heroes take less damage from weapon wielding characters. Swordmasters take less damage from magic wielding characters. Which class is better in Fire Emblem 7 – Hero. Heroes average higher total stats and receive hard mode boosts. Use of axes and swords is more useful than a critical bonus due to heavy population of lance wielding enemies in hard mode. Best Swordmaster – Guy Best Hero – Raven Best overall – Raven -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heros win. All Swordmaster fanbois, STFU. Not Waving but Drowning Nobody heard him, the dead man, But still he lay moaning: I was much further out than you thought And not waving but drowning. Poor chap, he always loved larking And now he's dead It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way, They said. Oh, no no no, it was too cold always (Still the dead one lay moaning) I was much too far out all my life And not waving but drowning. -Stevie Smith | |

This pretty much reinforces what I've thought all along. Heroes can dish out high enough damage without relying on stronger weapons, unlike Swordmasters. Plus they get the ability to use axes on promotion, making them more versatile. And if I may be allowed to rant for a moment, I just have to say that Swordmasters make no sense to me. They're supposed to be the ideal sword-users, but I don't think they are. Swords are weaker than lances and axes but more accurate. Maybe it's just me, but the ideal swordsman would not have low strength and high skill, but would have high strength and enough skill to hit enemies. I'm done ranting now. |

Thank you for taking the time and effort to prove that. I simply put all of my heros on one team, and my swordmasters on the other. Heros won, and so I did it between heros. Raven crushed Harken. |

How did Raven "crush" Harken if Raven only averages two higher total stats...? Oh. Wait. Probably crappy normal mode. |

Heroes are tanks. Swordmasters are fairies. Lloyd's pretty hot though, with that trenchcoat and all. My reasoning? Wo dao translates into "Fairy Knife" or something. And swordmasters have such crappy defense, they tend to die CONSTANTLY. |

FE4 swordmasters and FE9 swordmasters are very much so superior in every aspect. FE5 swordmasters are a little better. |
