(I know there are too many fusion fics hovering about...but I did enjoy writing this one in my head. So here's the first chapter, after a round of edits. Enjoy)

Chapter 1

The soulless smile of the crescent moon hung high in the air above the city, hovering gently over the teeming masses of Fef City. Its tall buildings at the center of town towered high above the rest of the city. Usually they were a welcoming sight to the populace of the city, but in the night time they appeared unusually foreboding. Especially tonight.

A young man walked alone between the bustle of the city’s nighttime populace, his eyes straightforward, as if he were searching for one thing and one thing only. The wind tousled his scruffy brown hair playfully as he made his way through the crowds, almost not noticing the multitude of people he was bumping in to, and even more oblivious to the many rude gestures made his way. One particularly gruff man grabbed his arm and spun him around. His comrades, equally gruff looking, started to circle around the brown haired stranger.

“Hey, asshole! Watch where yer walking! Now apologize t’me before I kick the shit outta ya!” There was no reply. “You serious there, punk? You gonna step on these feet and not say a word to me? I’m Darkhero, leader of the Wanderers, you got that? You don’t walk inta me and expect to get off scott free, ya know?” Still no reply. “Clearly you’re new here. Not no one who lives in this city who ain’t heard of me!” The Wanderers none-too-gently herded the stranger over into an alleyway and shoved him towards the back, facing him and slowly beginning to draw weapons. “Alright” Darkhero stepped forward again as he produced a pair of brass knuckles from his pockets and began to slip them on “I’ll give ya one last chance to apologize before I beat it outta ya, ya hear?” The brown haired stranger finally looked up, his piercing stare boring right into Darkhero’s eyes. The fierce brown eyes shone angrily

“Is this the finest humanity has to offer?” the man clenched his fists tightly. He was trembling with rage. “Is this all we humans are capable of!?” His voice was rising; the Wanderers slowly began to back off. “I cannot allow you filth to defile this earth much longer. She screams for revolution, and I will be the one to answer her call!” Lightning began to course along his arms, occasionally streaking out to strike the alley walls and dance along it. The Wanderers froze in their place, never before having seen such power.

“WHa…wha…” they were all too dumbstruck to formulate anything beyond that. “Who are you!?” one of the gang managed to call out.

“Leon, the Lightning Master.” He closed his eyes, and when they shot open again they danced an electric blue “and I will be the one to wipe you from this world”. The man at the back of the group who had been quietly edging away broke into a full run. Leon lifted his arm up suddenly, as if grasping at the sky. A blue bolt of lightning burst up from the ground, bursting through the man’s body and out his back as it lifted him clear into the air. His entire body coursed with the electricity as a silent scream escaped his lips. He landed on the ground, bloody and smoking. Leon glared at the remaining men. He slowly lowered his raised arm, forming a long, thin rapier in its wake before grasping its ornate handle. “Sleep, worms.” He said slowly, between deep breaths radiating his anger.

His instincts told him to run, but Darkhero knew that if he ran, he would be easy prey to the lightning strikes. More importantly; he would lose all respect of the local gangs. He rushed Leon, the smaller man still in clear vision despite all the static about him. His vision faded quickly as a sharp pain in his left eye exploded in his head. Leon slowly and deliberately pulled the thin blade from Darkhero’s head, letting the guild leader slump to the ground, dead. The remaining men started to back off, but Leon only shook his head.

“Pathetic.” He swept his free hand to the side, a long, thin stream of lightning streaking forth to cut through each of the remaining men. They fell to the ground, terror writ all over their faces, now black and twitching from the raw power that had cut them through. Leon stepped over their carcasses disdainfully, the rapier slowly disappearing into his hand. Wordlessly, he left the alleyway and resumed his walk into the streets.

Chapter 2

Father Time knelt before the shrine at the Temple on the outskirts of Fef. His face low to the ground so that his majestic beard splayed out gently on it. He lifted his grizzled head to the great statue of the FE Lords. He gazed upon each of their noble countenances, knowing deep in his heart that even their spirits would not be enough to quell the rising tides of the battle for the end.

“So approaches the end” he sighed sadly, leaning back on his haunches, his flowing robes shifting slightly as he did. “The 7 guardians…the 7 seals…they are all gathering.” The aged seer slowly stood and turned to the door, speaking aloud to the shadows “as destiny as foretold…so shall it happen. The future is uncertain at best. Who will prevail? The guardians or the seals?” he strode out into the center of the courtyard. “The stars of destiny are aligning…my students…Reaver…you are gathering the 7 guardians to you…and Sentenal…you bring the 7 seals to your side. My poor children…friends while under my care now turned bitter enemies…destiny was indeed cruel to the both of you.”

Father Time gently sat himself down by the small waterfall in the garden, watching his image shimmer and wave in the pool of water beneath him. “I see them too…the fire master, the earth master, the ice master, the shadow master, the forest master, the string master, and the bone master…the water master, the wind master, the lightning master, the light master, the iron master, the card master and the chi master…their powers are now fully awakened. They’ve felt both the surge of their own strength and the call of their leaders…the will of the heavens and the will of the earth…” he shook his grizzled head gently “…what twisted threads they all weave…the tapestry they create will be most beautiful, laced with sorrows and loss, traced with joys and loves…but the final outcome…the final outcome is still uncertain.”

* * *

She walked with an unerring grace about her. The air about her chilled as she passed. Her eyes stared dead ahead, quiet and always observing though never moving. Everyone in the quaint little bar turned to stare at the beautiful woman as she left. The room instantly warmed as she stepped out into the cool night air, brushing back her hair.

“Who was that?” a man turned to ask his friend.

“Heard her name is Crysta. No man who ever tried his luck with her ever came back the same.”

Unbeknownst to the conversationalists, Crysta had heard. With a stifled giggle, she started the walk through the park so as to return home. Now that she was alone in the dimly lit park, she sighed a soft sigh of relief. All the frigidness left her as she strolled along almost half-merrily, a soft smile on her face. Suddenly she tensed again, all the former iciness returning in an instant.

“Who’s there?” she called without a hint of uncertainty or confidence. From the shadows, several sunglass-suit clad men stepped out silently and watched her intently. “oh…just you paper spells again. Whoever keeps sending you must really want me dead.” With a flick of her hand, a long leather whip slashed out into the air, wrapping one of the men around the neck. She gave it a light tug and watched the man stumble forward. With a snap of her free hand, an icicle shot upwards through his face, dissolving him instantly while she deftly drew her whip back. “You heard the men at the bar, I’m sure. No man who ever tried his luck with me ever came back the same” She laughed light heartedly, sending her whip whizzing at the charging men. In a matter of moments, all that remained of her attackers were the pieces of paper they had been summoned from.

“You’re very impressive” another woman stepped out from behind a tree. Her dark brown hair fell to her shoulders and her green eyes were surprisingly bright. “Those paper spells were nothing to you were they?” Crysta coiled her whip with a single flick and pointed it at the new woman.

“was it you who sent them?”

“I’m not gonna lie” the woman shrugged “I don’t know where they come from, and the seal on them is very strong. I can’t trace them.”

“So you’re like me, aren’t you” Crysta lowered her weapon hesitantly

“Yes…I’m one who’s involved with the end of the world” The woman opened her eyes and smiled. They were a warm blue “My name is Pendant. What is yours?”

”Crysta”

”Crysta, pleasure to meet you.” Pendant bowed slightly. As she did, a pair of circular blades appeared in each of her hands “However, I’m afraid this pleasure will be short lived”

“You’re a seal.” Crysta said, as blankly as she could muster.

“Yes. And you’re a guardian.” The conversation ceased as the two women stared at each other for what seemed an eternity. Almost without any sort of signal, Pendant sent both her chakram soaring towards Crysta, whirring angrily as they flew towards her opponent. Reacting quickly, Crysta jumped aside and flicked her whip, knocking one then the other off kilter and off course. Much to her surprise, they seemed to pick up their momentum and streak towards her again.

“Wind Master” she cursed under her breath as she stomped her foot to the ground, sending a large icicle spike upwards, neatly deflecting the two whirring blades. Her respite was short lived as her senses kicked up. She jumped upwards, executing a neat flip as a wind blade streaked just underneath her. Landing gently atop the ice pillar, she snapped her fingers, ice crystals exploding in many jagged spikes in full radius behind Pendant. Pendant threw herself aside, grabbing her returning chakram in the process. After her roll, she crouched there, staring at her opponent.

“I expected no less of a guardian.” She retorted.

“I expected more from a seal” a sneer in reply.

“Funny! You’re all about the caustic retorts aren’t you?” Pendant started to run forwards, flinging her chakram out to each side. They curved heavily and whirred in dangerously towards Crysta’s neck. Consequently, Pendant slashed her arms in an X motion, causing two equally dangerous wind blades to fly out at the pillar Crysta was standing on.

“Shut up” The Ice Mistress leapt up as her little tower crumbled. With one deft flick her whip wrapped around one of the whirring chakram and swung it around into the other one, knocking them off course again. Knowing, this time, what they were capable of, she thrust out her hand, small icicles shooting forth from her hand, fast enough to pierce Pendant’s skin, and small enough not to be immediately seen. Pendant reeled back from the first little wave that pricked her, drawing blood in various places on her torso. In defense she crossed her arms over her chest, causing a small vortex to rise up around her, neatly deflecting the little blades. “Enjoying yourself, Miss Pendant?”

“Very much so” the wind mistress sneered in reply.

“But I’m afraid this battle must conclude” a new voice. Suddenly a gust of water rushed out from the woods at Crysta’s back. Without so much turning to look at it she froze it in its place. “Figured you would to that” The voice was monotone, and had almost a dead feel to it…but it belonged to a young girl. She slid over the top spinning a pair of tonfa before releasing a strike at Crysta’s head. With the slightest tilt of her head, Crysta let the tonfa and the girl slide by over to where Pendant stood heaving.

“Another Seal.”

“Correct. I’m Dragon_Sniper, the water master of the seven seals.” The girl had short blue hair and very calm blue eyes to match. She was dressed in typical schoolgirl outfit, only she was armed with tonfa. She turned slowly to Pendant “Miss Pendant…we are required back at headquarters immediately. This battle can resume at a later date.” Pendant nodded and summoned her chakram to her. With a little flourish of her hand, the two disappeared in a sudden spiral of wind.

As soon as they were gone, Crysta broke into a smile and a laugh “well that was fun” she picked up a few of her things that she’d dropped and continued on her way home.

Chapter 3-A

"Report, Ladies" he stood at the back of the dark room, still mostly obscured by shadows. One hand rested upon a jewelled pommelstone of a great blade, bigger than the man himself as it rested slightly at an angle on the ground.

Pendant and Dragon_Sniper, having just recently appeared, knelt down before him.

"It seems the Guardians are beginning to appear in Fef, just as you had said, Sir." Pendant bowed "I engaged one in combat. Crysta, the Ice Master."

"And I tailed the man called Soja, the Shadow Master." Dragon Sniper stood up, staring at her leader without trace of emotion.

"So as of right now..." the shadowed man rubbed his chin pensively "We know on our side, we have the two of you, and the Lightning Master and the card master are currently headed here as well. that makes four of the seven seals. Of the guardians, we have caught wind now of the Ice Master, the Shadow Master...Reaver must be struggling to call out to them if only two so far have shown up."

"Master Sentenal, I'm quite sure the rest of us are already in the city." Dragon Snpier's monotone seemed to cut the pensive air clean in two. "I'm already sensing the presense of the other elemental masters."

"Which ones?" Sentenal immediately gripped his sword "Give me their locations at once...so that if they are indeed of the Seven Seals they will come immediately."

"..." Dragon Sniper closed her eyes, the air around her warping. Pendant joined as their two energies mixed in the air.

"The Earth Master is currently in the Fef military Barracks. A man called Rock." Dragon Sniper announced. "That is all I can gather at the moment."

"our two new arrivals should go meet this Rock, fellow while you two rest up." Sentenal turned to the door. "Ah, they're here now." Stepping forward he revealed his longish brown hair, resting gently on the shoulders of his white trench coat. Everything he wore underneath was black. he hefted his sword upon his shoulders and took up a stance facing the door. Several lines appeared in the door, with light spilling through. The three in the room felt a sizzle of energy, and soon the door was blown apart. Two figures walked in...one coursing with lightning, and the other had a small sphere of playing cards floating around him.

"Welcome gentlemen." he sized the two up. The electric man wore a black shirt and denim jacket with a pair of raggedy jeans. The smaller man had a long coat, a sleeveless shirt beneath it and a pair of khakis. "Neither of you look like a threat, now do you?"

"You." Leon raised his rapier, the thin blade occasionally emitting a few sparks from the tip.

"That wasn't a very nice introduction"

"How about this one then!" The other one flicked his wrist deftly. The playing cards in the sphere went flying out at Sentenal "Stop invading our dreams!" he yelled.

With surprising agility for one weilding a blade so large, Sentenal repelled the flying cards with ease. Without ceasing his motion, he leapt up into the air and slammed the massive weapon down, causing a tremor in the earth itself. Leon and the Cardmaster struggled to regain their balance, but not before they noticed Pendant between them with her circular blade to each of their necks.

"Peace." Sentenal rested his weapon on the ground "I assume you're here because of my summons, yes?" The two men nodded.

"So then you're Leon...he who wields the power of the thunderstorm. And you...a reknowned gambler and assassin...Zephyr, was it?" The man called Zephyr nodded. His blonde locks falling over his eyes a little as he did so. "So, Zephyr, Leon, welcome to the fold of the Seven Seals. You already know why you're here...even if you refuse to admit it."

The two men nodded slowly, silently.

"Then you already know of me." more nodding.

"Fine then, bobbleheads. I'll give you your first assignment. There is a man called Rock currently stationed at the Fef Military Headquarters. Give him an interrogation. If he is on our side, bring him to us. If not, then dispose of him."

* * *

The bar had been good to Rock. It always had been. The tall man sat at the bar, still in his military fatigues. He had left the base earlier in search of a drink, and he had reached his quest. For all his apparent manliness, he did enjoy a good Mai Tai now and again, and he finished his second one with apparent, albeit silent, relish.

As if he had expected it, a tingle in the ground itself caused him to stand up and face the door. Other patrons looked at the tall man quizically, wondering what he was up to. The door opened, allowing a cool night breeze to disperse the beer hall stank.

"Major Rock. Come with us." Wordlessly, and betraying no emotion on his face, Rock left some cash on the bar and strode past the two men.

"What do you want with me" he said in a rich baritone as the two walked alongside him.

"You're involved with the end of the world, are you not?" the shaggy blonde asked.

"And what if I am?"

"Are you one of the Seven Guardians, or one of the Seven Seals." asked the brown haired one.

"Depends on who's asking."

"Members of the Seven Seals" the blonde asked hesitantly, instinctively reaching into his pocket. The brown haired one to Rock's left clenched his fists tightly, the air already starting to tense up with static electricity.

Never one for words, Rock's answer was swift and brutal. The two Seals suffered a heavy punch each in succession from the powerful man. The two went hurtling across the empty street from the sheer force of it. They both hopped up and nodded at each other. "Leon, take left, I'll take the right."

"Shut up." Leon muttered and went straight at Rock, drawing his rapier from the air "The dumb brute must not be very fast if he's that strong." Much to his chagrin, his initial thrust hit nothing and a heavy fist descended on his back. Zephyr shook his head and threw the cards up into the air, watching them form a pentacle. He began to charge his spell when a large pillar of earth rose out of the ground at a sharp angle, hitting him square in the stomach. Focusing his energy, he yelled something in a foreign tongue, and watched as the pentacle formation broke apart into many streaks of light, rushing at Rock at terrifying speed. Rock stood there, paralyzed for a moment; he had never seen an attack like that...more or less from playing cards. But just before the beams could hit, something seemed to swallow them up. Rock's face finally belied his surprise. Before him, a man wielding a large golden scythe seemed to rise out of the ground...as if he were on an unseen elevator.

"I'll handle it from here, Rock." The Red Haired man turned and looked back at Rock, giving the slightest hint of a smile.

"Soja...you son of a bitch...you're a guardian too?"

"Yeah. Who'd have guessed?" The man called Soja levelled his scythe at Zephyr and Leon who were now standing up. "Now the playing field is even, wouldn't you say?"

Chapter 4

He had always been fascinated by the moon. His pale grey eyes reflected the ever mysterious moonlight that he had been studying for hours. The shafts of light that so gently pierced his mind seemed to drift over the very clouds of his mind. A dainty hand held a bell between two slender fingers. Between the crease of the bell, a single string slipped out with a faint chime. With an almost imperceptible flick, he used the string to turn off the light. The string receded into its holder immediately afterwards. Sighing, the man leaned against the balcony of his apartment balcony, staring at the moon, wishing for destiny to undo itself.

"...this was never my wish...to die fighting for cause I don't care for." he straightned up slowly, pulling back his hair and gently wrapping a hair tie onto it, forming a ponytail that fell to his shoulderblades. He gazed longingly up at the moon again "you up there...you have no cares...but all you do is watch as we muddle lazily beneath you. I envy you." He turned and retreated into his small apartment. He leaned down to brush off his jeans before grabbing a leather jacket to wear over his white t-shirt. "I suppose it's time to go."

The strange man began his slow walk through the streets, gingerly avoiding contact with people in every regard. He got many stares from men and women alike...all of them wondering if he was a potential lover. How delicate he seemed...a small, slender man weaving gracefully through crowds and crowds of people. He kept his unmoving eyes to the ground, it was a wonder he ran into nothing.

"Stringmaster Kamaitachi?" a voice sounded in his head "It is time to gather. Beneath Raven Co's headquarters. You know where to go." Kamai only sighed in assent and continued the direction he was walking "As you wish, Master Reaver."

(I'm writing between finals, so this one might be a little harried)

Chapter Six

"I'll take the fencer. You take the blonde." Rock commanded. For a man his size, he was surpsingly quick, but still too slow for a prepared Leon. Two powerful fists streaked by his weaving opponent, who aimed his next attack at the back of Rock's head. Again, calculating that he had another second to charge his attack, he was once again surpried by a powerful straight kick to his stomach, followed by an uppercut to his chin.

Zephyr was having no luck at all with the shadow master, who seemingly blurred in with the darkness of the empty street. The thought idly occurred to him that Fef's busy nightlife was strangely quiet where they were, but that thought quickly left him as a scythe whirred dangerously passed his face.

"Focus on the fight" Soja growled at him "at least make this interesting" Zephyr swung his arm, his playing cards forming into what resembled a sword, which somehow withstood the force of Soja's next scythe blow. 'Neat trick."

"Thanks." As Zephyr stepped back, the cards disassembled and all flew towards the shadowmaster's body. With a graceful spin, Soja slipped out of the way and leapt forwards, wrenching a terrifying upwards swing at Zephyr's face. He watched in fascination as the cards seemed to attach to his weapon and pull it off trajectory and letting the scythe swing harmlessly by. Soja spun the staff of his weapon and sent another upwards swing at his opponent, who neatly sidestepped, sending an arcing kick at the side of Soja's head. Soja reeled back from the kick, and then thrust his arm out, sending what seemed like a shimmering black spear at Zephyr's chest. "holy shit!" he cried as he threw himself aside, escaping the dangerous attack. He cursed his decision to dodge that way as he leapt into the arms of Rock, who now had a very large, very dangerous looking golden axe blade at his throat.

"Get out of here...both of you." Rock whispered dangerously "The time for us to battle is not now." He tossed Zephyr towards Leon. Both of the fighters stared at their opponents before stumbling off into the night. "Let's go. Raven Co. Now." Soja nodded at Rock and slowly faded his scythe into the darkness as Rock did the same. The two walked side by side in silence towards their goal.

Chapter 7

"The end of the world approaches..." Both of them heard the words, but each of them heard a different voice.

"Destiny's a bitch ain't it" the man at the bar turned to his friend. His hair was short and white, his eyes a blood red.

"Seriously" the man next to him shrugged, downing the rest of his bourbon. "you know what else is a bitch?" He was the opposite. His hair was short and black with piercingly blue eyes.

"The fact that we're on opposite sides." the white haired man sighed, handing the empty glass to the bartender. "Another round, Bosco. This one's on me."

The bartender smiled his cheerful smile and went to pour another neat scotch and another Jack on the rocks. "Ah Mr. Zaikanrut, you've always been the generous one. But this is new...your friend here isn't a lady"

"Psio 'n me have been buddies for years."

"Partners in crime, you might say" Psio laughed a little at his own joke. Bosco, friendly as ever, laughed along with them.

"Hehe, we've never actually been seen together in public ever since we met." Zai sipped his drink. "This is the first and last time. So we're celebrating."

"Last time?" the bartender straightened his bowtie "Well then this is a big deal then isn't it?" He gave a slight bow "The tonight gentleman, that last round was on me." the bar was beginning to slow down a little. It was 1:45. "Why exactly is it the last time?"

"World's ending" Psio shrugged nonchalantly. Zai nodded with a slightly drunk smile.

"He's right you know."

"Never have been wrong about these things"

"I dunno" the white haired Zai wagged a finger in his friend's face "You predicted that I'd be the one to kill you, then I'd die protecting a lady shortly thereafter. You haven't been right about that one, yet."

"Keyword yet." Psio finished off his drink then stood up. He looked as if a long night's drinking had not inhibited any of his ability to stand and speak. The same went for Zaikanrut as he stood up. "Here Bosco" the two handed the bartender a large wad of bills for his troubles.

"Nice knowin ya Bosco"

"A pleasure, Bosco." And the two left the bar. Bosco stood in silent awe at the huge tip they had left him. Between them he'd received nearly four hundred dollars.

* * *

"So...this is where we part ways?" Psio turned to his companion. The moon was starting to disappear behind the tall buildings.

"For now" Zai said. "You should go. Looks like I have company." A slender man stepped out of the shadows, bells between three of his fingers in each hand.

"Master Psio" The man looked up, his unmoving grey eyes an unnerving sight. "Please head to headquarters. I wish to test the prowess of the seven seals."

"Ah Kamai...you of all people don't seem like the eager type." Psio shrugged "I'll head over to Raven and Co."

"Kamai you haven't changed a bit" Zai laughed, clenching his hands into fists and taking up a stance. Metal bracers formed on each of his fore-arms.

"It's nice to see the three of us together one last time" Psio sighed "Guess this officially ends our friendship, eh Zaikanrut?"

"Yeah. Kamai? Psio? It was nice working with you both" As Psio walked out of sight, Zai turned to Kamai. "Well, I figure this is your way of saying goodbye?"

"yes." a chill wind filled the sidewalk.

"My idea of a goodbye would be you taking me to a club or something."

"So you could look up young ladies' skirts? Hardly sounds like a decent farewell."

"You wouldn't look up their skirts, Kamai? It's paradise down there!"

"I can't look up girl's skirts."

"...oh...right.." Zai sighed "I always forget you're blind"

"And I always forget that more often than not, you're an idiot"

"Yeesh" Zai rubbed his forehead "Never one for subtlety, are you, Kamai?"

"Nope." the grey eyed man smiled.

"Well...at least let's take this away where people can't see." Zai looked around "My apartment's right around the corner. Why not we duke it out rooftop style, huh?"

"Fine."

The chill breeze followed in their wake as the two walked side by side, heading towards the battered old apartment complex.
