The purpose of this topic is to give the Judges a uniform set of standards with which to judge the debates, in addition to the official rules. Recently, a lot of debates about debating have popped up in various locations, so I also hope to consolidate all of these arguments into a single topic, where it will be easier to keep track of things.

I would prefer this to be pinned, since we can refer to this after all the debating is finished.

Feel free to correct me on anything, or challenge me on anything.

This is the following set of standards/assumptions we currently have applied to the Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken debates:

  • http://rpgdl.com/FE.php -- This site is where the averages for all debates will come from. It is assumed to be the most accurate database and mathematically correct.
  • On a related note, decimal points in character stats are assumed to be valid.
  • 20/20 is the accepted endgame level.
  • Hector's Hard Mode (HHM) is the most valid mode of the game because it is the most challenging mode of the game.
  • Ranking runs are more valid than Non-ranking runs, because ranking adds difficulty, and Rank is something that can be quantitatively measured.
  • Because ranking is considered, arena abuse and boss abuse are not considered valid in debates.
  • Cheating, hacking, and glitching (including the Mine Glitch) are not considered valid in debates. Not only does doing any of the above activities reduce the challenge level, but some run the risk of permanently damaging or destroying game data.
  • The act of seizing isn't considered a valid arguement, however the effects of needing to seize are.
That's all I can think of for right now.
