So, VincentASM discovered how HM boosts are determined. Here is his topic at FESS.

Based on that, I calculated the average HM bonuses for recruitable units.

Code:

RUTGER 5 LEVELS -> 3.5 HP, 1.75 STR, 2 SKL, 2 SPD, .75 DEF, .85 RES, 1.5 LCK
CATH 6 LEVELS ->2.7 HP, .3 STR, 2.7 SKL, 2.4 SPD, .3 DEF, 1.2 RES, 2.4 LCK
FIR 7 LEVELS -> 4.9 HP, 2.45 STR, 2.8 SKL, 2.8 SPD, 1.05 DEF, 1.19 RES, 2.1 LCK
SHIN 7 LEVELS -> 4.5 HP, 2.1 STR, 2.8 SKL, 3.15 SPD, .84 DEF, 1.05 RES, 2.1 LCK
GONZALES 7 LEVELS -> 5.74 HP, 3.5 STR, 2.1 SKL, 1.4 SPD, .7 DEF, .7 RES, 1.05 LCK
KLEIN 8 LEVELS -> 5.2 HP, 2.4 STR, 2.4 SKL, 1.6 SPD, 1.2 DEF, 1.2 RES, 2.4 LCK
TATE 8 LEVELS -> 5.2 HP, 2.8 STR, 3.2 SKL, 3.2 SPD, .96 DEF, 2 RES, 2.8 LCK
MIREDY 9 LEVELS -> 7.2 HP, 4.05 STR, 3.15 SKL, 2.7 SPD, 2.25 DEF, .9 RES, 2.25 LCK
PERCIVAL 10 LEVELS -> 7 HP, 2.5 STR, 3 SKL, 1.8 SPD, 1.2 DEF, 1.7 RES, 2.5 LCK
GARRET 10 LEVELS -> 5.8 HP, 3.5 STR, 2.5 SKL, 1.2 SPD, 1 DEF, 1 RES, 1.5 LCK
ZEIS 10 LEVELS -> 8.0 HP, 4.5 STR, 3.5 SKL, 3.0 SPD, 2.5 DEF, 1.0 RES, 2.5 LCK

FE7:

Code:

GUY 5 LEVELS -> 3.5 HP, 1.75 STR, 2 SKL, 2 SPD, .75 DEF, 1 RES
RAVEN 5 LEVELS -> 4 HP, 2 STR, 2 SKL, 1.6 SPD, .9 DEF, 1 RES
LEGAULT 5 LEVELS -> 2.5 HP, .25 STR, 2.25 SKL, 2 SPD, .25 DEF, 1 RES
HEATH 5 LEVELS -> 4 HP, 2.25 STR, 1.75 SKL, 1.5 SPD, 1.25 DEF, .75 RES
GEITZ 5 LEVELS -> 4 HP, 2.25 STR, 1.25 SKL, 1 SPD, .8 DEF, .85 RES
HARKEN 5 LEVELS -> 3.75 HP, 1.5 STR, 1.5 SKL, 1 SPD, 1 DEF, 1 RES
VAIDA 5 LEVELS -> 3.75 HP, 2 STR, 1.5 SKL, 1 SPD, 1 DEF, .85 RES

I'll do it in table format later so it is easier to read.

Ditch the Constitution boosts, since they don't exist. ;>>

Beyond that, excellent work.

EDIT: If it's not too much to ask, can you please copy the post to here? For some reason, I'm apparently not allowed to veiw the page. ?_?

Since nobody really knows about them, other than the boosts are random, I thought I'd do some testing on them. I was further encouraged by a topic at GameFAQs where somebody got there before me.

I quickly determined that class growths are what affects HM boosts- for both enemies and recruitable enemies. That is, the boosts are just extra (class growth) level ups. By setting different class growths to 100%, I found the amount of extra level ups recruitable enemies received.

FE6:

Code:

RUTGER 5 LEVELS
CATH 6 LEVELS
FIR 7 LEVELS
SHIN 7 LEVELS
GONZALES 7 LEVELS
KLEIN 8 LEVELS
TATE 8 LEVELS
MIREDY 9 LEVELS
PERCIVAL 10 LEVELS
GARRET 10 LEVELS
ZEIS 10 LEVELS

FE7:

Code:

GUY 5 LEVELS
RAVEN 5 LEVELS
LEGAULT 5 LEVELS
HEATH 5 LEVELS
GETIZ 5 LEVELS
HARKEN 5 LEVELS
VAIDA 5 LEVELS

In summary, FE6 characters receive 5~10 extra levels depending on the time you recruit them. FE7 is just an extra 5 levels for all. A consequence is that later characters will be favoured by HM boosts, although for promoted characters, promoted class growths are lower than non-promoted class growths so it kind of balances out.

There are also "random boosts", which give +1 or -1 to stats and, on the rare occasion, +2 for HP. I don't really know what determines them. Using the minimum RN code (setting all Rns to 0?) nullifies them, which was handy for determining just the class growths. However I do know that they somehow depend on class growths- enemies with 0 class growths show no random boosts.

I haven't tested on normal enemies (they also receive extra levels, but I haven't determined the amount [the Bandits in FE6 Chapter 1 get 8 extra levels though]), but maybe someone might want to try. If so, don't forget that most enemies don't use just the class bases- like playable characters they have stat additions as well.

Anyway, just thought it might be useful to know. Not understanding something in FE just strikes me as odd for some reason (since we seem to know so much). Also it might be useful for debates, I don't know ^^;;;

Thanks a bunch, Kratos!

Hmm...that's pretty nifty. Now we have a standard set of HM bonuses to use.

Those don't make any sense. Unless you're using a method I'm unaware of, it just doesn't work.

Vincent's determining of the level ups do, but your stats don't.

For Miledy, I got 6.75, 4.5, 4.5, 4.05, 1.8, .45, and 2.25. For Miledy to have 0.9 Resistance boost, she'd need 18 level-ups.

If Bonuses are determined by growths, Raven fans just got a good 1-up on Harken.

EDIT: Insert mouth, open foot. I just realized it was CLASS growth, not UNIT.

Apparently, that should be luck, no con. Also, Vincent says that enemies won't get bonuses in luck, regardless of the class growth.

That's because in FE7 all enemies have a 0 Luck growth, so they can't gain Luck bonuses.

In FE6, they do get Luck bonuses, in FE7, they don't.

I want to express some doubts about this. I took several Miledy samples prior to this tournament. For Miledy's STR, she normally got a 5 point bonus. Not a 4 point bonus, as what a 4.05 would lead you to believe. Here are screenshots of my samples (one is thx to luke):
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/dark...dmodemiledy.png
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/dark...l/miledyhm2.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/dark...l/miledyhm3.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/dark...l/miledyhm4.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/dark...l/miledyhm5.jpg

Now, as you can see, 3 out of 5 times, Miledy got a 5 point bonus.

Another thing. She almost always got a 9 point HP bonus. Yet that says she gets a 7.2 HP bonus?

And yet another thing. She mostly got 3 points in DEF. Only missed 3 points in DEF once. Kinda odd, if the DEF bonus is supposed to be 2.25, eh?

My big beefs are with STR and HP, as what happend with my samples shouldn't happen, if bonuses like that exist.

How is +2 HP a "rare" occasion, if I hit 9 HP nearly every time?

And what exactly does he mean by "random boosts"? As in, randomly, a unit gets another +1 along with the HM bonus?

He made the enemy growth 100% for all stats, and took several samples. I think this should be as accurate as can be. Besides, perhaps you just got really friggin' lucky, I know I've never had Miledy's like that.
