Haar (Lv. 11 Wyvern Rider @ Ch. 23) HP: 47 (65%) Str: 21 (60%) Mag: 8 (5%) Skl: 19 (60%) Spd: 17 (35%) Def: 20 (45%) Res: 10 (20%) Luk: 12 (15%) Haar @ ??/20 HP: 52.8 Str: 26.4 Mag: 8.4 Skl: 24.4 Spd: 20.2 Def: 24.1 Res: 11.8 Luk: 13.3 Muarim (Lv. 9 Tiger @ Ch. 16) HP: 45 (145%) Str: 16 (70%) Mag: 4 (5%) Skl: 13 (70%) Spd: 15 (55%) Def: 12 (60%) Res: 5 (45%) Luk: 11 (35%) Muarim @ 20 HP: 60.9 Str: 23.7 Mag: 4.5 Skl: 20.7 Spd: 21.1 Def: 18.6 Res: 10.0 Luk: 14.8 Demi Band Transformation Bonuses Str +4 Skl +2 Spd +2 Def +2 Res +2 Full Transformation Bonuses Str +7 Skl +4 Spd +3 Def +3 Res +3 Let's see here. Offensively, while Muarim is capable to catching up with Haar's strength stat lead with his demi-band transformation bonuses, he can't change the fact that beorc weapons are stronger than those of the laguz. Both steel lances and axes have a couple points of might against tiger claws, and by the time Haar can wield silver weaponry (which shouldn't be too long considering he has Bs in lances and axes) he should be outdoing Muarim by 4-6 damage per hit. Haar also has plenty of skill to make sure he'll hit the majority of enemies, even though Muarim will have more accuracy. Muarim also has a slight AS lead, but there shouldn't be that many enemies Muarim can double that Haar can't. In all, Haar and Muarim are a relatively even match when it comes to offense. However, defense is a different story. Even with transformation bonuses, Haar'll probably have a 5 point lead or more when it comes to the defense category, and 2-3 point resistance lead that will trickle down towards being near even once they reach ??/20. All thanks to Haar's nice defensive base stats. Their evasion without supports are similar enough to make this a solid win for Haar. Then, there is Haar's skill, Guard. When Haar attacks, he has a 20-25% chance of not taking their counterattack. It may not be amazing, but it still pushes his defensive advantage further. Support-wise, Muarim has one excellent support and two crappy ones, while Haar has one excellent support and one good one. Muarim has Zihark, who is debatable with Stefan as the best Swordmaster, Largo, a Berserker with horrid defense and a really, really late joining time, and Lethe, a cat laguz with a terrible affinity. Haar has Jill, who is the best flier in the game, and Malakov, who has the benefit of being a decent Paladin in a game where Paladins rape. Zihark would prefer Muarim to Brom and Ilyana, so Muarim can take an A. Muarim with A Zihark grants him +1 defense and +22 avoid, some solid gains. Jill will likely have either an A or B with Mist, but can afford to wait for Haar since her only other option is Lethe with her terrible affinity. Makalov, similarly, will have an A or B with Astrid, and will have room for Haar since his only other option is Bastian. It's also worth mentioning that Jill, Haar and Makalov all have the same movement range, which certainly helps. A/B Jill & Makalov (doesn't matter since they both have the Thunder affinity) grants Haar +2 defense, +12 hit, and +25 avoid, while B with both Jill and Makalov (should they have As with the others) grants Haar +2 defense, +10 hit, and +20 avoid. Either one is more than a match for Muarim/Zihark A and they both further Haar's great defense. Both of Haar's supports are also amazingly fast at 1/2/4 and 1/3/5 - by the time Muarim gets A Zihark, Haar could very well have B Jill and B Makalov. And finally to end my first post, eyepatches are more awesome than do-rags. |

Whoa, wait. Catch up to? Try surpass. He reaches the catch up to mark 1 level after his base level. And his base level is 10.5 chapters earlier (counting each part of 17 as a chapter). Muarim is reaching way more than one level in ten chapters. He can easily get 5-6 levels, which puts his str at 20 before transformation. With his demi band transformation gains, that's 24 str, meaning he's beating Haar by 3.
They do indeed have more power, but Muarim's str lead means that Muarim still comes out on top by a couple points.
It takes 60 weapon exp to get from B to A, and since Haar won't be doubling much, it's going to take him a while.
Unlike in FE7, enemies in this game actually have avoid. Usually 0 AS loss this late in the game due to using str instead of con or something, and nonzero luck. A typical paladin on the chapter he joins will have about 38 avoid, and Haar has only 115 hit with a steel axe. Haar has only 77 hit with a steel axe and 82 hit with a steel lance. And then because of this wierd thing this game has called biorythm, both Haar and the enemies can have +/-5 hit and avoid, so 1/3 of the time, his hit is going to be 10 or 5 less than that, 1/3 of the time, it will stay the same, and 1/3 of the time, it will be 5 or 10 more. Haar's accuracy is definitely a disadvantage. Muarim, however, has ~140 hit at this point.
Their AS difference is about 3 when Muarim is demi'd. That's not HUGE, but the problem is that their AS is at a critical point. Muarim is a couple points above doubling most things, and Haar is a couple points below. Haar is doubling wyverns and generals, some warriors, and a few halberdiers. Oh, and bishops. Muarim is doubling all the rest except swordmasters and ravens. So far, Muarim has a huge win in offense. More attack, more hit, and more AS. And you also have the option of just letting him transform normally for even higher stats, and then only when he's about to detransform do you equip the Demi Band.
I dunno what level you gave Muarim, but it's definitely far too low. That looks like you gave him only 2 levels in 10-11 chapters. Anyway, I get Haar winning def by 3 and Muarim winning hp by 6 and avo by 7.
Largo comes only a chapter and a half after Haar, and his supports are even faster, so him coming late shouldn't be much of an issue. The only issue left, then, would be his defense. His def stat is indeed quite low, but it's no worse than your mages, and then his hp is huge, which makes him quite a bit better off. And his support with Muarim gives full avoid and half defense. So his defense is really not all that bad, and then his offense is incredible.
Quite solid indeed. And a B Largo would boost that to 2 def and 32 avoid.
Makalov and Jill would both definitely want an A with their first supports, so Haar would be getting Bs, yes. Now, there's one thing I would like to point out. Makalov is indeed quite good as a paladin once you level him up quite a bit, but he starts off pretty crappy. His problem is that he joins with no offense at all. His offense is about the same as Mia's is when she joins with her crappy offense 7 chapters earlier. That's pretty much the definition of suck. So Haar may very well only be getting B Jill.
Close. He can't get a B with Makalov until a chapter after that. But Muarim has a B with Zihark a chapter and a half before Haar even joins.
Fargus begs to differ: ![]() Now, I'd like to bring up another very important point: Muarim's performance before Haar joins. It's amazing. Chapter 16, Muarim, Demi Band: 29 atk, 17 AS, 131 hit, 7 crit, 45 hp, 14 def, 7 res, 45 avo, 11 critavo, 9 mov That's insane. For comparison, here's Stefan, iron blade: 28 atk, 25 AS, 129 hit, 37 crit, 38 hp, 12 def, 9 res, 55 avo, 5 critavo, 7 mov (Astra included in crit) and Titania (20/7), steel axe, B Mist, C Boyd: 27 atk, 17 AS, 122 hit, 8 crit, 38 hp, 15 def, 12 res, 48 avo, 14 critavo, 9 mov 26 atk, 17 AS, 117 hit, 8 crit, 38 hp, 13 def, 10 res, 48 avo, 14 critavo, 9 mov (without Mist, since she's most likely a cleric right now...) and Oscar (18/0), steel lance, A Ike, B Kieran: 23 atk, 13 AS, 112 hit, 7 crit, 34 hp, 13 def, 4.5 res, 81 avo, 9.5 critavo, 8 mov and while I'm at it, Ike (20/0), iron blade, A Oscar, B Soren: 24.5 atk, 17 AS, 114 hit, 8 crit, 33 hp, 13 def, 8 res, 86 avo, 13 critavo, 6 mov (lol, avoid) And... Muarim, full stats: 32 atk, 18 AS, 135 hit, 8 crit, 45 hp, 15 def, 8 res, 47 avo, 11 critavo, 9 mov I do hope Haar has something to match that. |
