I've failed to come up with something witty, so I hope you will enjoy this filler text instead.

Alright, lemme write something up. B route isn't that bad, really. It's not like Echidna or Bartre will be used normally, so who cares about losing Echidna to get Bartre? Noone, that's right. You do care about the higher leveled Gonzales, though, but he still cap rams Str and HP, big time. And he still gets amazing Spd. All it'll have any significant impact on is his Skl, where he'll end up with 1 point less. However, this doesn't really matter, I just felt like saying it. Inui has stated that my task simply is to prove that Bartre>Ward, if both are being used. And that's what I'll do. Here we go. Bartre, ??/2 Warrior HP: 48 Str: 22 Skl: 11 Spd: 10 Def: 10 Res: 3 Luck: 14 Ward, lvl 14/0 Fighter HP: 37.0 Str: 14.0 Skl: 8.4 Spd: 7.4 Def: 6.6 Res: 0.6 Luck: 9.4 Oh snap. Bartre raaaaapes Ward. Way better offense and defence. There's not a stat Ward isn't owned in. Anyway, too lazy to write much more, Bartre obviously keeps a level lead if you use him, so yeah, here's a final comparasion (bet I couldn't spell that word). Let's say it's chapter 21, that makes sense considering the levels I'm about to show. Bartre, lvl 20/12 Warrior HP: 55.0 Str: 26.0 Skl: 13.0 Spd: 13.0 Def: 12.0 Res: 3.5 Luck: 16.0 Ward, lvl 20/8 Warrior HP: 54.7 Str: 23.4 SKl: 17.2 Spd: 12.0 Def: 13.5 Res: 1.2 Luck: 15.3 Aww, look at that. Ward's only slightly inferior now... when we're nearing the end of the game. So, what can we establish from this? Well, Ward is inferior to Bartre until, like, chapter 23, where they tie. So obviously Bartre's better in this regard. In the end, Bartre is perhaps just an improved Ward, who doesn't cost Exp and a 10000 K promotion item. I think it's fair to say Bartre is better than Ward. |

For Ward to promote in Chapter 15, he gains 18 levels in 14 chapters. That means roughly +1.3 levels per chapter. That puts him at LvL 15 at the start of Chapter 11, and since Bartre joins liek halfway through the chapter, that should be time enough for him to get up to LvL 16 by the time Bartre joins. Also you forgot supports. So try again: 16/0 Ward(A Lott, B Dieck)—??/2 Bartre Atk: 19/22 Hit: 36/29 Crit: 22/5 AS: 8/10 Hp: 38.5/48 Def: 9/10 Res: 3/3 Avo: 51/34(wtf?) Already debatable. Bartre probably has better offense, but not by alot(both these guys use Axes so 7 Hit counts, and 17 Crit definitely counts too), but then Ward’s defense is better(17 Avo > 9-10 Hp + 1 Def, Avo beats Hp in equal amounts, and here the Avo is much higher). But wait, there’s more. Ward’s supports are also making Lott and Dieck better. Overall, Ward’s presence adds 23 Atk to your team(19 from Ward himself, 3 to Lott, 1 to Dieck); 48 Hit; 39 Crit. Bartre adds 22 Atk/29 Hit/5 Crit, and has 2 more AS. Winner: Ward. Then look at defense. Same thing but even worse. Ward gives +15 Avo to Lott, +10 to Dieck, +1 Def to both. That totals to +25 Avo/+2 Def, on top of the 51 Avo/9 Def that he already has. Now the Avo he brings to the table is steamrolling Bartre completely(76 vs 34 lol), and he’s even giving you more overall Def and Res. So Ward wins already, even when Bartre is six levels and a promotion ahead? Indeed. And things get worse for Bartre from this point on, since Ward will just be catching up more and more.
Huh? No, that makes no sense. Bartre’s offense is barely better than Ward’s even when they first joined, by the time Ward promotes, his offense is better. By that point you have to be setting kills up for Bartre in order for him to kill as much as Ward(since his offense is worse). And if he’s going to be ahead in levels then he gets less Exp per kill, so he has to actually kill more than Ward to stay ahead, and you have to set up even more kills for him. Not happening. Then when Bartre’s offense can still be argued as better(Chapter 11 and shortly thereafter), it’s the reverse, except Bartre is overlevelled by alot there, and you want to keep overlevelled units out of combat as much as possible, both for the Exp Rank and just for the sake of making better use of your Exp. So that counteracts and probably actually overcomes the fact that his offense is a little bit better. So basically, Ward will catch up by endgame easily. Well before that, probably. And on top of all that, just add on Ward’s supports and he’s better even at your skewed levels. |
