Why Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is the best Fire Emblem in the series. It has come to my attention that there are mixed feelings on which Fire Emblem in the series is, in fact, the greatest. In my opinion, there is no contest. Path of Radiance, the Fire Emblem on Gamecube, easily outdoes the rest. Now, that may or may not change once Goddess of Dawn is released for the Wii, but at this moment, I maintain that Path of Radiance outdoes the Blazing Sword, Sword of Seals and Sacred Stones, the latter by a longshot. I have no experience with any of the other Fire Emblems, but I assume that Path of Radiance is still better than them, and I will explain below. I say this with a heavy heart, though, and recognize that I haven't played beyond a few chapters of Fire Emblem 6, the Sword of Seals. I do, however, understand a fundamental difference that Path of Radiance has over it. That is a difference that I will get to near the end of the essay. Needless to say, however, I am slightly biased when comparing Sword of Seals to Path of Radiance, since I have played the latter, a few times. Hang with me, though. I'm getting there. So, what is this "fundamental difference" I'm speaking of? Could it be the fact that it's not on a handheld device? No, that wouldn't make sense. A lot of the earlier Fire Emblems weren't on handheld devices either. And besides, mobility is a pro, not a con. No, there must be something else that puts Path of Radiance a step ahead of the rest. Superior graphics? Well, that is certainly a possibility. But let me just tell you that, no, graphics are not the reason that I consider Path of Radiance to be far greater than any other. Forging? No. Maybe I'll just say it. The reason that Fire Emblem 9: Path of Radiance is better than any other Fire Emblem in existence is because of... *drum roll* Fixed Growth mode. Yes. I'm sick and tired of seeing people who play through FE7 again and get extremely angry because Oswin has 15 Defense at 20/20. It's too inconsistent to play because hardly ever do characters actually average what they're supposed to average. When I play a game based on stats, I want to be able to look at the game statistically and know what will happen with my own characters. FE7? No thank you. I'll stick with FE9. That is all. |

Why Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is not the best Fire Emblem in the series Because it depends entirely on opinon. Some people, including me, like the variety random stat gains produces. And when not in the mood for said variety there's always..... wait for it.... Prepromotes! It'd also help a lot if fixed growth mode was actually fixed, IMO. |

Fire Emblem 9 doesn't have savestates or a throttle. FE4 is better, since even though it doesn't have Fixed Growth Mode, half the characters in that game are so insane, God has to hate you for them to be bad. I mean seriously, just TRY and get a bad Leaf. |

Just find an FE9 Rom them. I'm sure there's one around. To me, no throttle doesn't make a difference; I generally don't like using Roms. Playing games on the computer screen gives me headaches for some reason. I guess that's the main reason why I made myself learn to play with no savestates. Leaf sucks before promotion.  On the main topic, yeah, I agree, pretty much. Except for the part about it being better than the games you've never played. FE5>POR, IMO. 3, too, and maybe 4. |

Emulating a system that's faster than your computer and then trying to throttle? Eh... doesn't work too well. |

You can get a FE9 rom (or more accurately iso), but good luck running it at fps greater than 10 or even saving, let alone using throttle or savestates XD Othin, you can get GC emulators and GC isos. The emulators are just undeveloped. |
