Which character do you guys suggest as the BEST Swordmaster? If you would like I guess you could label Volke as a swordmaster (since he is fast and relies a lot on criticals...) |

If Volke is a swordmaster he's the worst. But he's not, since he doesn't use swords, and he certainly isn't a master of swords. Also, he doesn't get critical boosts nor weapons that provide a reliable amount to his initial critical chance. Thus, Volke is nothing like a swordmaster. Anyway, the best swordmaster is a toss up between Zihark and Stefan. They both have solid stats, with Stefan having a level lead on Zihark, but Zihark having a better skill and way better supports. Zihark's also around a lot more. Mia sucks though. As for the other two, you're fine going either way, but I wouldn't use both, since too many sword users in a runthrough is bad. |

Honestly, I'd say pick the one you like the best... they are all pretty good, in different ways. You get Mia really early, and she's got pretty awesome speed and skill. She also comes with Vantage, which is a great skill to have, and works really well in combination with other skills like Adept or Guard. She's probably got the best evasion of the swordmasters, and is among the better evasive units in the game. Zihark is pretty sturdy as far as swordmasters go... he's got decent strength and defense for the class, and also has the awesome Adept skill. His offense is pretty crazy. Stefan comes in way overleveled with solid bases (actually somewhat appropriate for his level, as opposed to the usual prepromote fare). He pretty much instantly becomes your best offensive unit, but will probably suck exp for a while. You might not want to use him immediately. He's got a lot of strength for a swordmaster, and is impossible to get rng screwed. You've got a pretty solid chance of capping str, skl, and sped. His only real weakness is that his luck is terrible, so his evasion and durability will be a lot worse than Mia or Zihark by the end of the game. Lucia is even pretty cool. Yeah, her base stats suck, but she's hot, and if you do level her, she's got great growth rates. You get this character really late though, so I wouldn't really plan on using her too much. |

Doesn't Path of Radiance have an item that works like an iron rune? If so I think I would just prefer Stefan over all those guys... yeah and It's also funny to see guy dress weirdly like him.

When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat.

swordmasters are my favorite class. i like them all except lucia. i usually have a descent swordmaster(s) much better than her by the time i get to use her. i would prefer zihark over both stefan and mia. you get him pretty early and does not suck exp. because i prefere my swordmasters to attack, i would prefer Zihark. |

He means an item that negates critical attacks. Now that I think about it, I don't believe such an item exists in FE9. That aside, it's not even really so much of a problem with Stefan getting critted, so much as his really low luck is giving him significantly less evasion for regular attacks in the end. Of course, you'll probably want to recruit Stefan anyway (even if you don't use him) because he comes with the only S rank sword you can obtain in the storyline (to my knowledge). |

Isn't Ragnell also S rank, despite only Ike being able to use it? Anyway, you don't even need to recruit Stefan to get the Vague Katti. Have any other unit than Lethe or Mordecai stand on the spot, and they just find the sword. Even so, I don't see why you wouldn't want to recruit Stefan. He gets you a free Occult, after all. |

There are no items that negate criticals, but some weapons can- Ragnell, Alondite, Gurgurant, Tibarn's Beak, Giffca's Claw and Naesala's Beak all negate (non-Wrath) criticals. |

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Occult scroll he gives you! So yeah, no real reason not to get Stefan, even if you won't use him =P. I always thought of Ragnell as a "Prf" - Profession weapon, since only Ike uses it. It's a semantic detail really; most Lord weapons would probably be considered S ranked weapons by virtue of their superior stats, if anyone could use them. |

Ragnell doesn't have a weapon level, so I see it as a Prf weapon. |

I think Stefan's the best swordmaster, but I love using Mia. I get pretty blessed with her a lot of the time. |
