Yep, just got this in the mail off of Ebay(User was in Tailand). After almost 2 weeks, when I bought Blazing Sword on the same day and got it last Wednesday. It's definatly pirated, to my dissappointment, but, works fine, so, I'm happy. All that aside, is it easier or more difficult than the blazing Sword? I must say I like the beginning and Eirike more than Blazing Sword's and Lyn. |

FE8 is somewhat unique in that it is an "open-ended" system. That is, it has infinite gameplay, unlike other FE games which end after the campaign is over. A few chapters in, you open up a place called the Tower of Valmi which can be repeatedly raided, as many times as you like, for exp, items, and gold. This tends to make the game very easy because you can level units as much as you like. After the game is over, you can continue to explore the map and fight random engagements, as well as unlocking a second, very difficult repeatable dungeon. You could even level every unit to 20/20 if you wanted to spend that much time. If you choose not to exploit the towers for their extra exp, you make the game significantly harder. I would say normal mode FE8 is about as hard as Normal mode Eliwood route on 7, assuming you don't use the tower. Hard mode FE8 is somewhat difficult at the beginning, and gets easier as time goes on. |

Hmm...I agree with most of what Blackbird said, but I'd actually say FE8 HM gets more difficult as time goes on. Promoted enemies in FE8 HM aren't super powerful or anything, but they tend to come in swarms in the last few chapters and they have the strength and accuracy to actually cause damage; enough, in fact, to kill someone when they appear in the large swarms that they do. There are two chapters in particular where promoted enemies appear every turn, and of those, one has 6-7+ promoted enemies per turn, in Fog of War...but thankfully that's just a survival mission and by far and away the most difficult chapter (as in, the rest lacks difficulty). Pound for pound, FE7 (especially factoring in Hector Hard Mode) is more difficult than this game. Blackbird's spot on, nonetheless. |

The Tower of Valni completely makes the game easy as HELL No matter what difficulty. If you're lucky, the Tower of Valni repeatedly spawns monsters that drop runeswords and spears which are very useful and $$$ when sold. Also the characters tend to raise alot more stats compared to FE7 but maybe that's just me

No, you're right. That's another thing: on average, units gained ~20% more in total growths compared to the average FE7 unit. That also makes it a bit easier. |

This, mostly because it's longer. FE10 > FE7 > FE4 > FE9 > FE8 |

It's hard to directly compare Fire Emblems, but yeah, I generally agree with Sety's "Difficulty tiering". FE 4 is hard for different reasons than GBA FE's, I think... lots of running around big maps to kill bandits in annoying locations =P. Another factor to consider is that FE6 and 7 add an optional second layer of difficulty in the Rankings system, which makes the game much more difficult if you choose to play for S ranking. FE8 doesn't really care how you win... in fact, there is no penalty at all for completing a mission as slowly as possible! |

FE 4 has hard rankings. FE 5 > FE 6 > FE 4 > FE 10 > FE 3 > FE 9 > FE 7 > FE 8. Ranks and hard mode considered(except for 10). Ranks bumped up the first three by a lot. |

Lol, so true! FE6 is pretty darned hard, even on normal. But that is mostly because the majority of enemies hit hard, you occasionally fight enemies that are actually hard to hurt, and most of your units suck (compared to later GBA FE's, anyway...) =P. I'll have to check out FE4 hard, eventually. It's on my list, but I'm trying to complete 6 first. |

Yes, FE 6 generally gives you bad units and very strong enemies. The enemies in FE 6 have the highest HP and Atk of any enemies in any FE games. They're not as durable as FE 9/10 enemies, though. But, anyways, yeah, sucky units ftl. Dieck's top tier and he's got worse stats than like...Harken of FE 7. XD FE 4 is gay due to the ranking requirements being hard to meet. |

How does the growth rate of units in FE8 compare to those in FE9? And I think FE7 is a bit harder than FE8. If you abuse the arenas in FE7 when you get the chance, its not that hard. And the fact that you can fight enemies any time you want in FE8 makes it even easier than FE7. FE9 wasn't too difficult because almost every unit in your army is strong. |

FE 9 growths are obviously higher due to both STR and MAG on every unit. >_>; Discounting that, FE 9 growths are better anyways. XD Arena abuse, lol. |

I'm pretty sure FE4 has much higher HP on everything. Every single class has 100% or more HP growth, and the general bases in that game are insane. That said, the same applies to your own characters. For Atk, FE4 does have some holy weapon enemies, but generally weapon might isn't that much different. For the general topic, generally people measure a lot of the difficulty in how hard it is to beat the game (in the Hardest Mode), because a few games don't have ranks to begin with. And without ranks, FE4 is by far one of the easiest FEs. With ranks, I'd say all ranked games are pretty much the same except FE5 (being very fucking hard). FE6 has somewhat lousy requirements for tactics and no EXP cut, it just has a harder combat rank and harder enemies but that's it. |

I meant in comparison to your team. Enemies in FE 6 have more HP than your team, while everyone has pwnage HP in FE 4, including magic users. |
