I don't have much experience with either, so, I'm trying to decide which I should choose. He's currently level 16, and only has 10 speed...Doesn't even double some monsters. I looked, both promotions have the same speed cap and growths. I imagine at the very least Summoner can have a good use... |

Knoll does have the best summons of the 3 possible summoners in the game. Ewan also generally makes a better Druid if you promote him that way, so, Knoll will probably be your Summoner. If you even want to use Knoll, that is. He's generally considered around the bottom tier. |

Well, he's 17 now and still has 10 speed....Plus, I noticed he has 1 luck.....Is this why he's low tier? |

With such low luck and speed, his evasion is terrible. Not to mention his rather low defense. Knoll's defense parameters is like the economy of Malawi: Terrible, and not likely to grow at any significant rate. However, his summons turn out really nice, so if you're dead-set on using Knoll, keep him in the very back ranks with a staff and some summons, so he can act as a healer and summoner. |

In a word, Yes. His appallingly low luck means he is the frequent victim of critical attacks. |

So I see. I promoted him to Summoner, so, he'll have a small use of summoning and healing. I'll give him a Dark tome or two so he can defend himself. |

For future reference: different promotion paths still have the same growths - those are set to units. It's caps and promotion bonuses that differ. Knoll is only good for Summoning and it isn't even that great, but if you want to continue using him you might as well do that. If you still have some stat boosters lying around you can feed him those I guess. |

IIRC, Knoll was never too good. But how does he compare to Canas? |

Canas L8 Shaman HP: 21.0 Mag: 10.0 Skl: 9.0 Spd: 8.0 Def: 5.0 Res: 8.0 Luk: 7.0 Con: 7 Arrives at 17x, so between 11 and 32, that's about at around a fourth of the game. Knoll L10 Shaman HP: 21.0 Mag: 12.0 Skl: 9.0 Spd: 8.0 Def: 2.0 Res: 10.0 Luk: 0.0 Arrives at Ch15 out of 20 chapters total, so about 3/4 of the game. You know you suck when your stats are (arguably) worse and yet you arrive so much later. |

The biggest difference is Luck, which Canas has more of. Otherwise, they're virtually the same. Do you have the 20/20 stats for them? |

Like I said before... I am perfect.

20/20? They're never gonna be at the same level at the same time. Knoll's wins in Mag and Res don't outweigh Canas's Def and Luck, and even if they did characters in FE8 have higher stats than in FE7. Knoll is far worse. |

Knoll = phail Canas = "okay" For some reason, Knoll reminds me off Niime, who is phail too. Don't ask me why, though.

At least Niime is low maintenance in EXP and promotion item, and considering she's in FE6, she's relatively even better. |
