~Chapter One~ Legendary Blade On the continent of Elibe, on the endless plains of Sacae, there is a lone hut that belongs to a single woman named Lady Lyn. She has a slim figure and is of average height and weight and carries a katana, a unique sword she received from a merchant named Bryars two years ago. As she steps out of her hut to enjoy the fresh Sacae air, she notices a crowd gathering at the near by church. By the time she reaches the church, she notices that the crowd has quickly reached numbers in the hundreds. As Lady Lyn contimplated this bizzare gathering, a priest leaving the main temple approched the confused crowd. He was clearly the head priest by the elegant robe he was wearing and the staff he was holding was adorned with a rare gem, signifing his rank. "Welcome to St. Binah's Warriors Festival. I'am the head priest, Phil and today we will be holding a once in a life time event to award Elibe's finest swordsman with our most valuable weapon, the Mani Katti." As Phil signaled for the other priests to retrive the blade, Lady Lyn then knew why there was such a large crowd; the Mani Katti was a legendary weapon said to be the twin blade os the Sol Katti which was one of the weapons used to end the war against the dragons 1,000 years ago. An air of excitement took the crowd as Phil unwrapped the blade from ite elegant cloth which had beed made with extreme care. Lady Lyn wondered why the church would give such a valuable weapon to common warriors. The origin of the Mani Katti is that it was forged along side the Sol Katti during the time of the ancient war and was given to the prince of Sacae at the time. However, the war was over before it could be used so it still retained its condintion and regal beauty even after 1,000 years. The Sol Katti as well as the other two legendary weapons, Armads and Durandal, vanished after the war. When Phil held the Mani Katti it was obvious to all that it was indeed the finest blade in all of Sacae, possibly more than in Elibe. "Registration will be held today followed by the actual event tomorrow. In the mean time the church would like all participants to prepare and get plenty of rest.'' Phil said. Lady Lyn thought of entering but saw a gruff man weliding a huge battle axe. He was clearly the most frighting one there. Lady Lyn chose not to be intimadated and entered, then returned to her hut. She spent the rest of the day training and preparing for the festival. Tomorrow, the Mani Katti would be hers. End of Chapter One |

~Chapter Two~ Before The Storm The following day was quite busy. The news of the contest reached every corner of Elibe. People from Ilia to Bern all came for the Mani Katti. In just one night, it seemed as if the entire continent was there. The numbers were clearly over 1,000. As Lady Lyn saw this, she began to lose hope. The confidence she once felt was gone. Almost everyone there looked strong. They were either soldiers or long time mercenaries. How could Lady Lyn, a common Sacaen nomad with virtually no battle experience, stand a chance? But it was too late now. Lady Lyn would have to keep a strong face and show no fear. "I can do this.", she thought. "Don't show fear. Don't show fear." As she approached St. Binah, she saw many Pegasus knights and Wyvern riders in the skies above. This event had attracted alot of attention. Of course the prize was a very valuable weapon, but such things can often attract the presence of thieves. Naturally, the church knew this and had many guards stationed around the area. Though even that would not be enough to stop the greatest thief in Elibe. Soon the head bishop, Phil, emerged from the main temple. "Warriors of Elibe, can I have your attention please?" Phil said to the large crowd. "Welcome to the St. Binah's Warriors Festival. The tournament. will now begin. Please check the bracket to see who will be fighting who. Please keep in mind that while our priests and bishops will heal any wounds, it is possible that some injuries may be fatal. If any of you happen to die, this church will not be held accountable. With that said, please put on a good show and may the best warrior win." The possibility of death didn't seem to effect the crowd much at all. Only Lady Lyn seemed to be disturbed by it. "The tournament bracket will now be posted." said some lowly ranking priest. "Whats it say?" some Ilian Pegasus knight said. "Who's head head do I get to chop off first?" said a rather large, gruff man. Lady Lyn noticed it was the same intimidating man she had seen yesterday. Round 1: Kamaitachi v.s. Lady Lyn That was the first match of the tournament. After everyone had viewed the bracket, another priest directed the crowd to the nearby coliseum. Mean while outside St. Binah, two cloaked figures planned to steal the Mani Katti. "CATS, are you ready?" "Yes, Yzarc. Are you sure this is a good idea? I mean, this place is almost as heavily guarded as Bern!" "We talked about this last night. If we don't steal this weapon and stop the tournament, the Black Fang will destroy Elibe. We can't let that happen. Plus, St. Binah is the largest church on the continent. Its bound to have riches rivaling Bern's treasury. Do you understand?" "Yes, Yzarc. I'm sorry for questioning you, especially considering all you've done for me." "I understand. Lets go." End of Chapter Two |

~Chapter Three~ Preparations It didn't seem long for the participants to reach the coliseum. For such a large crowd, they all seemed to move fairly fast. It would seem odd for a sword to have so much hype, but the Mani Katti wasn't a normal weapon. It was over 1,000 years old, and quite possibly the strongest weapon in Elibe today. The coliseum, surprisingly, was large enough to fit the huge crowd. Particapaters and spectators alike filled its gold and ivory covered halls. It looked like some king's castle, even though it was a common arena. Everywhere you looked, suits of armor were placed accordingly and systematically through out the interior. Red carpets with golden highlights covered every inch of the floor. The walls were covered with ivory and windows and doors were made out of pure gold. Another oddity was that guards in heavy armor were scattered all over the place. They were covered from head to toe in armor. In their left hand they held fairly large shields and wielded lances in the right hand. It seemed extremely bizarre why a place designed for fighting and bloodshed would look so much like a castle, though no one except Lady Lyn seemed to notice. They were all far too focused on the Mani Katti. When they reached the fighting area, it looked exactly the same as the interior. Everywhere you looked, you saw almost nothing but gold and ivory. There was no stone, and the only thing not made out of them was the large iron gates. How could a church possibly afford something like this? Once the crowd gathered in the center of the fighting area, the head bishop, Phil, emerged from the area of the arena where a noble or an important guest would sit and watch the match. "Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of the church of St. Binah, I am pleased to see so many of you gathered here today. Before each and every match, the participants will have a brief ten minute intermission to prepare themselves. Please use this time to do just that." Once Phil finished speaking, he signaled a guard to retrieve the Mani Katti. It would seem he intended to display the Mani Katti like a trophy through out the tournament. Once the heavily armored guard brought the sword to Phil, he openly displayed it. He mounted it on a stand so everyone could see. "As of this time we would like to ask the spectators to be seated and the fighters to get ready. Good luck." Meanwhile, nearby the coliseum, the two cloaked figures were approaching their destination. "Yzarc, how are we going to infiltrate the arena and steal the Mani Katti?" "Thats a good question, and I suppose its time to plan our next move. Do you have the blueprints I gave you?" "Yes I do. Its right here." CATS then reached behind his cloak and pulled out a rolled up sheet of paper and handed it to his accomplice. Yzarc then knelled down and un-rolled the paper. It detailed every nook and cranny of the arena with amazing detail. It was very easy to read and understand. Who ever made it knew exactly what they were doing. "As you can see, there are guards stationed in the north, south, east, west and everywhere in between. I'd estimate there are at least 200 of them." CATS looked at Yzarc. "200! Thats more than any of can handle. Maybe we should request reinforcements from Lord Soja." "Theres no time, you idiot. We have to do this now. Now, theres only one way in, and it would be impossible to enter from the sides seeing as there will be guards patrolling the area. Not to mention those positioned on the walls above. They would surely see us coming." "Then how are we supposed to get in?", CATS asked Yzarc. "Theres always a back door if you know where to look. Right outside the St. Binah church, theres an outside shed thats usually used for storing minor equipment. However, it also serves as an emergency underground exit that connects directly to the arena. On the back wall, theres a hidden switch that opens this tunnel. Thats how we are gonna get inside. Unforteantly, while there will be little, if any, guards, I'd imagine it would be sealed off somehow." "Then how are we going to get past that?" CATS asked Yzarc. Yzarc reached in his pocket and pulled out two small talismans and gave one to CATS. "Were going to use these. While worn, they let the user slip through solid objects." "No doubt given to us by Lord Soja." CATS said. "Actually, he only let us borrow them. He expects them back." Yzarc replied. He then brought out a secondary rolled up sheet of paper and placed it on top of the first. It was transparent, and showed the placement and movement patters of every guard there. It was made in conjunction with the blueprints and was very accurate. "The-" "I know what they are.", CATS interrupted. "I'm not an idiot." "It seems I've taught you well, then. Any questions?", Yzarc said. "What if we somehow are found and the guards are alerted?" CATS asked. "If that happens then we turn to plan B." "Whats plan B?" Yzarc unsheathed a hidden sword he carried under his cloak. "This, also a gift from Lord Soja, is known as the Devil Sword. Its an exceptionally strong sword that comes at a price. You see, every time the wielder kills an enemy, the sword drains some of your life. With this, I can easily handle the guards, but if I have to use it, I may lose my life." "You sacrificing your life? Thats very unlike you.", CATS said. "I have my reasons. Is that all?" "Yes.", CATS replied. "Then lets head to St. Binah and find that secret entrance." ~Chapter Four~ Fight! The skies were blue, not a cloud in the sky. A beautiful spring day. No one expected the tragedy that was to come. As the spectators got seated, the fighters prepared for battle. There were over 30 of them of varying shapes & sizes. No one looked noticeably nervous, save for Lady Lyn. She was up first, fighting a mounted warrior by the name of Kamaitachi. It didn't seem fair to have some one mounted fighting one on foot, but according to the rules, this was allowed. As she was getting ready, a knight wearing green armor approached her. He wore a sly smile which was complimented with his sly expression and boyish good looks. He certainly didn't look like your typical knight. "Excuse me miss, but may I have a moment of your time?" "Yes, but make it quick",Lady Lyn replied. "I couldn't help but notice that one so beautiful as you here among these all these fine warriors. You wouldn't happen to be participating in this little event, would you?", said the green armored knight. The confident smile he gave Lady Lyn suggested he was trying to win her affection, and she knew it. "...Yes I am. Does it seem odd that a woman would be seen in a place like this?", Lady Lyn said. "N-no not at all. I was merely pointing out that it would be a shame if something were to happen to that pretty face of yours. But take no offense. I am sure you are good with a blade. But accidents are a part of fighting and I would truly hate to see one as attractive as you scarred in the midst of a battle." "I thank you for your concern, but--" "Kami! Where are you, Kamaitachi?" Lady Lyn's conversation was interrupted by a similar looking knight, though his armor was red, and he looked quite stern. "Kami, there you are. I've been looking for you. Where have you been?", said the red armored knight. "Damn it, JediSSJ. I was jus--" "Trying to smooth talk some more girls, huh? I swear your so predictable. If your tongue was was sharp as your spear you could be the finest knight in Lycia. By the way, who is this your talking to? "Ah, this lovely lass is....oops, forgive my poor manners, but what is your name?" "Its Lady Lyn. Who are you?" "I, my dear, am Lycia's most famous knight. The infamous Kamaitachi. Perhaps you've heard of me?", Kamaitachi said confidently. "Nope, can't say I have.", Lady Lyn said with a chuckle. "You haven't? Well, I'm still a bit new. Oh, and this is my cock blocking friend, JediSSJ." "Hello there miss. I apologize for my friend. You see, he always finds the prettiest girls in the area and uses his self-proclaimed 'silver tongue' and charms them. We are both knights in service to Lycia and are assigned to the same unit.", said JediSSJ. "Really? Well, its okay. I guess I should just take it as a compliment that he would talk to me, then." "Thank you. Again, I am sorry for my foolish comrade. On behalf of the country of Lycia, I am truly sorry." JediSSJ then turned his attention to Kamaitachi. "Now as for you, you need to get ready. Honestly, your a knight of Lycia! You need to act with--" "Oh, jeez. Here we go again. Mr. high-and-mighty is gonna start with more of his boring lectures. I get it, okay. I'm a knight. I won't do it again. Seesh...", Kamaitachi said with a sigh. "You must act like a proper knight. Don't dishonor your country by acting like some gaudy fool chasing women everywhere we go. Now, your fight is coming up. Get ready." "Okay, fine. But after this, your treating me at the local pub. I haven't had a good drink in a while." "*sigh*...you'll never change..." Moments later, a guard entered the area where the fighters were located. "Attention, warriors. The fighting will begin now. Please follow me to the arena." With that, the fighters all proceeded to move just as the guard has instructed. When they reached the center of the battle area, an announcer proceeded to announce the first round. 'Ladies and gentlemen, the St. Binah church will now begin the first round of the St. Binah's Warriors Festival. The first round will now follow. The fighters in the first round are: Kamaitachi and Lady Lyn. Will the two mentioned fighters please stay behind. The rest may wait until the match in concluded." With that, the two warriors stayed behind while the rest went back to the waiting area. When the gates closed, the same guard then explained the rules. "This is a single round fight to the death. Victory is determined when one fighter kills the other. In the event of a draw, the one with the most wounds loses, There can only be one winner. Do you both understand?" "Y-yes.",said Kamaitachi nervously. "I do.", said Lady Lyn. "Then....begin!" Meanwhile, outside the St. Binah church "Okay, this is it. The shed we are looking for is right there. As you can see, there is not one guard there. They must all be at the coliseum." Yzarc said. "I guess you were right. Its all going according to plan, huh?" CATS asked his mentor. "Yes it is. Lets hope it stays that way. Here, its the talismans I told you about. Don't wear it till we reach the blockade. It will no doubt be located in the middle of the tunnel. Now this is important. You must NOT remove it till its safe. If you do, you will die a very gruesome death. Understand?" "Yes, Yzarc. I do. I won't remove it until were in the clear." "Alright, then. Lets go." CATS & Yzarc then entered the shed. "The switch is located on the back wall. If we press it, it will reveal the tunnel connected to the coliseum." ... ... ... "Here it is!", CATS said as he pressed the switch. Soon after, the wall began to shake. It then sank into the ground, revealing a staircase. "Good job, CATS." "Thanks!" The two cloaked figures then went ahead down the tunnel. It was very well lit with torches placed along the walls. Moments later, they reached the underground blockade. Yzarc then handed CATS the talisman from Lord Soja. "Remember, don't remove it till were safe.", Yzarc told CATS. "...." They then fastened them around their necks. Instantly, they started to take effect. Yzarc tried to touch the wall to see if it worked. But instead of feeling the soft dirt, his hand passed through it. "It works!", CATS said happily. "...Yes it does. Well, lets begin the operation." "Right! We'll steal the Mani Katti and bring it back to Lord Soja.", CATS said. Back at the arena, Lady Lyn began her fight against Kamaitachi... "Well, it seems we are fated to meet on the field of battle. Who knew it would be you I had to face first. It must be destiny that two lovers would have to--" "Would you shut up already. I admit I'm surprised fighting you first, but I have no intention of losing. Get ready!" "Ah, so thats how it is. I guess I have no choice but to scar that gorgeous face. Such a waste of beauty." Kamaitachi then gave the signal to release his horse. "What!? You're fighting me on horse back! Thats not fair!", Lady Lyn said. "According to the rules, it is. I've been trained to fight on a horse. In all the dules I've had with JediSSJ, I've won 50 times and lost 40 times. My skills with the lance are unmatched. If you want to give up, nows the time." "Yeah right. Like I'd ever surrender to a wimp like you. Your bark is worse that your bite." "Outrageous! If you won't give up peacefully then I have no choice then to destroy you." With that, Kamaitachi then began to rush at Lady Lyn at full speed, spear pointing directly at her. She then got ready to evade. Just before the blade of Kamaitachi's lance pierced her, she evaded his attack via a cart wheel-like motion with one hand. She used her free hand to quickly reach into the pouch she carried and throw a throwing knife at Kamaitachi's horse. It connected, hitting the animal on its right thigh. It let out a sharp cry. "Hey, no fair!", Kamaitachi said. "You hurt Sylvester. Now I'm gonna kill you!" "Heh, we'll see.",Lady Lyn said with confidence. If I can take out his horse, I can beat him. Hes no match fighting on his own two feet. As long as I evade his attacks I'll be fine. Kamaitachi then rode to the other side of the arena. He then charged at Lady Lyn, but this time with slightly less speed. As he approached, Lady Lyn then began to make her move. However, before he made contact, he shifted his spear from his left hand to his right. This caught Lady Lyn off guard and she couldn't properly dodge the attack as the lance grazed her skin, tearing a piece of her shirt. "Ha! Missed again!", Lady Lyn said mockingly. "Not quite." Kamaitachi then held up his spear. It had her pouch caught in it. "Without your silly projectiles, you won't be making any more cheap shots." "Dammit! You little bastard! I still have my sword." "True, but I doubt that will be very effective when you have a 234 pound animal charging at you at full speed. But don't feel bad. If I wanted to kill you I could have done so with that last attack." "Then quit playing around and fight me!", Lady Lyn shouted furiously. "I plan to, my dear. I told you you wouldn't be able to beat me. When I kill you, I shall dedicate all my futura endeavors in your name." With that, Kamaitachi began to rush at Lady Lyn again. This time, he planned to make this his last attack. Lady Lyn then placed her hand upon the hilt of her sword, preparing to strike... End of Cahpter Four |
