Troll Posts: 8,613 Group: Advisor Member #47 Joined: June 9, 2005	Before I start, I want you all to read this post from the staff board voicing my suggestion in response to countering what seems to be a decline in activity for FEFF, which Santi keenly brought to our attention. This idea, as you might read, was heavily inspired by Phil's course of action in the Suggestions/Questions board. Staff Board New Suggestion: I think we should go public about our desire to increase activity with our members. This allows us to gain more valuable input, input the sixteen in this room may overlook or deny, as well as develop member loyalties to ensure activity stays. Before "no bad idea", I urge you to view this topic. The members want FEFF to be as active as WE want it to be, shouldn't we listen to their input so more members strive to make suggestions like Phil's? This only goes to show that we aren't going to think of everything and expanding to the members only serves to aid our cause. This isn't meant to allow everyone into the staff board - to reject the immediate thought - but to get members involved in something. My point? Wouldn't it be peachy to get the members involved in designing projects that get members involved? We're Calling on You! We're trying to find ways to get FEFF more active and get people involved and doing all sorts of fun activity around the boards, and why not grab our activity at the source? You. If you have any suggestions as to what changes you want to see at FEFF and what kinds of activities would make you more active at FEFF we want you to post it. Right here. Now. Your contributions will make FEFF more active and certainly a better place, so don't hold back and show us what would make the forum a better place. Post away comrades!

Advertise us as a general community, who has a knowledgeable and strong FE fan base. The reason I say this is because less than half of this place actually talks about FE anymore, and it can turn off potential members.

So if one member from each of a billion random forums joins we're a success rather than drawing a few temps from FEP or FEE or whatever. Expanding our horizons is ALWAYS going to be a good thing.

Otherwise it's just joining something you could hopefully fit into. We're a Fire Emblem community that has plenty of other stuff to keep people occupied, so I don't see it as fencing us in. That and it's kind of hard to say that when you have Fire Emblem in your forum name.

If someone came here expecting some sort of general community and saw stuff about FE everywhere, I think that could serve just as well for a turn-off.

Maybe twenty of them are consistently active these days. This isn't an easy "problem." If it were, I could tell you the solution right away. We have Fire Emblem in droves--but not many people seem that interested in it. Fire Emblem is rather niche when you compare it to more popular communities like... Animal Crossing, or Pok�mon. That's probably because with Fire Emblem, you can talk about the game. And that's about it. Don't think there's much we can do about that ourselves. Like Crysta says, a forum can have a central sort of theme, but that doesn't necessarily dictate whether or not that's all the forum is about. If you want a general forum, go to AOHell or MSN. You'll come out scarred for life. I don't think that's the kind of activity I'd want around here.

Instead of saying "we are a Fire Emblem forum", say "we are a Fire Emblem forum, as well as an active general forum". It may sound worse, but it's the truth. FE discussion pales in comparison to other things around here. Most prominent members don't even play the games anymore.

This is going to sound pessimistic but there isn't much left to do. Look at the boards there are. Global Announcements, Website Contribution, Introductions/Leaving, Suggestions/Questions aren't really places where "fun activities can take place" All the FE boards already have debate forums. There's not much else you can do with them. I think it's quite obvious to every intelligent member that the activity in the RP and RPG boards kinda depends on the activities on the members or those boards are pointless to go into. Fan Art and Sprites already have competitions. The remaining boards are Fan Fiction, General Discussion, Gaming/Smash, Media/Literature/Technology, Chit Chat/Forum Games, and Debate Forums. I don't think enough people would be interested in a Fan Fiction contest since any form of contest would have to limit the creativity of the writing to a specific genre or have a certain word length and I imagine that would make it a bit less entertaining to write. General Discussion...good luck trying to come up with something besides the fusion awards. Gaming/Smash already has a Wi-Fi tournament series. I suppose it could be expanded to include other games besides Brawl but that would require that a decent number of people own and play another online game for it to be an enjoyable experience. Media/Literature/Technology the best idea I can come up with is having some sort of trivia contest with very obscure questions so you can't just google the answers. Other than that, I can't see much happening with these boards unless you can magically coerce people to be active in them. Chit Chat has Forum Games and hardly needs more activity. Debate - Last post was April 2nd 2008 lolol. It might be a good idea to have debate contests with a limited number of posts because otherwise you can eternally argue for/against [something].
