I’ll start with supports. Thany’s options are… Tate: She is an overall pretty good character. She really wants Thany, because it’s flyier x flyier, it’s extremely fast (only 10 turns for a C) and because Tate in general has a hard time getting supports (Klein might want to support Dieck/Clarine/Percival instead). Yuuno: A piece of shit. Zealot: Not used outside earlygame. Dieck: A very good unit, but has other options. Lott: A pretty good character, he prefers Ward to Thany, but Ward is not used often. Ward: Crap. Roy: Horribly slow, but starts way early, he can easily get a C with her. We will give her A Tate/B Lott. Hugh’s options are… Niime: It starts way too late, and Niime might only be used for a chapter or two for staff use. Lugh: Good unit, but it starts way too late when he has other options. Ray: Ditto. Cath: An extremely slow support, and Cath is fielded on few chapters only. Chad: Awesome unit, but it starts way too late when he has other options. All of Hugh’s supporters take too long/ have other options. Thany easily wins supports, she has more options, all of which are fast, while all of Hugh’s supports are +1 and most of them have other options. Also, Lott and Tate in general miss a B/A support so she’s also helping her supporters. Thany’s initial damage output is rather below average. Compared to your army, she’s like Roy with a little less power but doubles more, so she’s better overall. More than a main damage dealer you’ll use her for finishing off things, a slim lance has 90 hit, so she has 98.10 real on soldiers, on archers she has 86.74 while on Mercenaries she has 82.30 and she doubles, so she has two chances to hit, she’s your safest bet when some of your units struggle to hit consistently. She, again, takes hits similar to Roy, except than she has more evade and 1-2 range. She has the best mobility on the whole team overall; Marcus can move further, but Thany flies, she can make use of her stats the most in general and because she can move again after miscellaneous actions she is useful for rescuing/trading/shopping/visiting villages. You will probably mention the weakness to bows, but massive mobility means she is less troubled by them that a foot unit would normally be. And mountains give her lots of hiding places. Lategame, she can one round them, and her mobility is larger than their attack range. The Delphi Shield also exists, but since Tate and Miledy are being played she won’t get it often, pretty much like 33% of the time she’s played. Early on, she isn’t a main damage dealer, but helps by doing miscellaneous errands, being your safest bet for damaging enemies and dealing with magical enemies. By the time Hugh joins, Thany has participated in 18 chapters. She could be like 20/2 (roughly 1.2 levels per chapter) by this point, let’s see how she compares with Hugh. 20/2 Thany, B Tate, B Lott. Silver Lance - 29.0 atk, 17.5 AS, 126.3 hit, 19.3 crit / 62.0 avo, 32.0 hp, 12.0 def, 14.0 res, 37.0 critavo 15 Hugh (10000 paid) ElFire - 21.0 atk, 12.0 AS, 101.8 hit, 5.3 crit / 34.0 avo, 26.0 hp, 9.0 def, 9.0 res, 10.0 critavo Thany is winning clearly in offence; first off, the res-def gap between most enemies is 5, so Thany is beating him in raw damage against most things. Hugh wins against Mamkutes and Knights (he doesn’t one round even when he doubles), but Thany beating out magical enemies counters that. As for AS, Hugh has spd on par with generic enemies, the only things he can double on his joining chapter are Knights, which he doesn’t one round and he gets doubled by Mercenaries. Thany has no such problems; she doubles every single enemy on the map except for Narshen and Mercenaries, and she can actually one round mages, bishops and fighters. Defensively, she beats him in every parameter, with nearly double avoid. A mercenary has 37.41% real hit on Thany and it’s a 3HKO, while it has 92.97% real hit on Hugh and one rounds. A knight has 9.03% real on Thany and 3HKOs, 48.51% real on Hugh and 2HKOs. And she’s nearly impervious to fighters when she wields a sword. The worst thing about Hugh is how he rapes the funds rank, to get his best stats (the ones used on the comparison) you have to pay him 10000, and because he is unpromoted you have to buy a guiding ring for him; that’s 20000 gold total. When you pay him the lowest, he gets doubled by fast mages, cavaliers, Snipers and Paladins, alongside the Mercs. Thany could pretty much use Silver and Killers for most of the game and not fall back in funds. Especially since Elfire + Heal is nearly the equal of Iron + Silver. Then lategame… Let’s make Thany 20/9 while Hugh is 20/5. 20/9 Thany, A Tate, B Lott. Killer Lance - 27.1 atk, 22.6 AS, 150.6 hit, 53.0 crit / 78.4 avo, 35.2 hp, 12.7 def, 15.7 res, 46.2 critavo Silver Sword - 30.1 atk, 23.6 AS, 150.6 hit, 23.1 crit / 80.4 avo, 35.2 hp, 12.7 def, 15.7 res, 46.2 critavo Silver Lance - 31.1 atk, 21.6 AS, 140.6 hit, 23.1 crit / 76.4 avo, 35.2 hp, 12.7 def, 15.7 res, 46.2 critavo 20/5 Hugh. ElFire - 28.7 atk, 17.1 AS, 114.3 hit, 9.6 crit / 48.4 avo, 36.8 hp, 12.8 def, 12.3 res, 17.2 critavo Against Silver Sword!Heroes…Thany doubles, Hugh does not. Thany hits the hero for 16 damage, so it takes her two rounds of combat to kill them. Hugh does 23 damage, so it takes him 3 rounds of combat to kill them. Elfire!Sage, Thany again doubles…and Hugh doesn’t; Thany does 21 damage per hit, so it’s a one round, Hugh only does 14 damage, so it’s a 3HKO. Hugh one rounds Knights while Thany one rounds Bishops. Defensively they tie def, Hugh wins HP while Thany wins res and avo. Wyvern Knights only have 4.06% real hit on Thany, so she’s pretty much impervious, on Hugh they have 35.70%, and it takes 3 hits for them to die. Wyvern Lords have 19.53% real on Thany and 66.79% on Hugh, and both die in two hits. Thany looks like the winner to me, and this is only against physicals, Thany survives better against magic. Thany’s offence is much more flexible thanks to her massive variety in weapons, she has WTA control, so it’s generally easy for her to get 10+ avo and 1+ atk against enemies. She can switch weapons for the situation, she can get Armorslayer, Horseslayer, Killer weapons when she can’t one round normally, or Lance Reaver so she can get WTA against Wyverns to further increase her avo. Also, because she has massive spd, she can switch to heavier weapons when she needs more atk without massive drawback, and switch to lighter ones when she can finish off something that way. She can also get 1-2 range. Hugh in general will only be fighting with Elfire for the whole game. He can use Aircalibur when fighting Wyverns though, but those tomes can only one round lvl 10 Wyvern Riders; against the Wyverns Lords it’s a two round. He can one round lvl 20 Wyverns Riders only if they have low spd and are wielding a Steel Lance. When he promotes, he gets staves; but he gets them pretty late, and only at an E rank. They can probably make up for some of his durability loses though, however, Thany rescuing earlygame counters this. Thany also takes you to Ilia, so Shin can now be used without having to be kept underleveled. This also helps Fir, who has trouble getting supports otherwise. It’s best mobility, rescue capabilities, taking you to Ilia, making supporters better, being better mid game and late game vs staves and two shotting Wyvern Lords. |
