In. Old School FF games kicked ass. FF4 and FF6 are two of the best games ever made.

My personal favorites are, in order of the ones I've played, FFII (wth, right?), FFV, FFI, FFIV, and FFIII. I seem to be in the minority whenever I talk about FFII because I absolutely loved the system it had with leveling up spells and stats. That game had probably the closest thing to a create-a-character setup I've ever seen in an FF game. I liked FFV because of the ridiculous customization; there's only a max of 4 characters at any given point, but given the >20 jobs available by the end of the first...third? of the game, you had an immense amount of options to go with in the game. ((Not as many as FFII, IMO, but close enough.))

<paragraph break to defeat wall-o-text>

FFI had the job choice at the beginning and just has a nostalgic feel to it whenever you pop it in and start a new file. FFIV is ranked lowly on the list, but that doesn't mean I didn't like it; just that I liked the others more. FFIV just loses replay value after a few times because it's the same characters over and over with no customization ((except the VERY end of the game, where it really doesn't make much difference because there's still overcentralization toward the "core" party; and if you don't have the GBA version, you don't even have this)).

FFIII I don't think I've played more than 30 minutes. :D I played the DS version and I just plain old didn't like it. Maybe I was too quick to judge, but meh, it's my least favorite as of now.

I never really liked that part of the FF games like 2 and 5. I like the FF games where characters have a more defined, set role that they fill. I guess the customization is alright, but I liked FF4's system, and FF10 as well.

Count me in, I suppose. I really only like FF4, FF6, Mystic Quest, and FFT. The rest in the series are either decent or subpar in my opinion. Or I haven't played them, like FF1/2.

FFTactics was my favorite ever. I'm in. Make my class Dragoon.

The ones I've played (in order from most awesome to most fail) and my favorite character from each.

1. FFTactics - Delita, hands friggin' down. Olan was cool too, as were Gafgarion and Wiegraf, but Delita takes the cake.

2. FF6 - Locke
3. FF10 - Wakka
4. FF7 - CLOUD. JK SEPHIROTH. Actually, Barret.
5. FF12 - Need I say it? Balthier.
6. FF1 - FIGHTER.
7. FF8 - Zell
8. FFCC - I dunno
10. FFTA - Cid, I guess? Everyone in this game was pretty faggy.

FF10-2 (oh god forgive me)
FF11 (online)

FF Crystal Chronicles
FF CC My Life As A King

I also own Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (shut up), have seen Advent Children, and watched all four episodes of FF Legend of the Crystals when i was younger. I really wanna find those again.

my favorite FF character would probably be the villain, Kefka, how lame of me. Orrr maybe Cecil from 4. Or auron from 10. or Ramza from tactics. Or maybe just my Lilty character from Crystal Chronicles. I dunno.
Has been known as:
mrmastodon, Greth, MF Greth, L, Shu, Sailor Star Healer

Voted most manly last time, and most underrated twice in a row, shit yeah!

DO NOT WANT CLOUD FANBOYS :NomNomNom:

Woo good shit. Cloud wasn't actually too bad in FF7 itself, but in AC he was a fag.

Can we have Zack fanboys instead? :NomNomNom:

Favorite FF would probably be 7. I actually liked the whole storyline and everything, which is probably why I enjoyed most of the compiliation.

After that I really don't know. I enjoyed most of the ones I played but I always liked 5. But after going back and playing it I realized how slow it could be, still like it though, just not as much. PS1 ports fail for loading. D:

And my order of favourite-to-least-favourite (as well as my favourite character from each game:

  • 1. Final Fantasy Tactics (Gafgarion)
  • 2. Final Fantasy XII (Fran)
  • 3. Final Fantasy IX (Zidane)
  • 4. Final Fantasy VI (Gau)
  • 5. Final Fantasy VII (Red XIII)
  • 6. Final Fantasy IV (Rydia)
  • 7. Final Fantasy X (Kimahri)
  • 8. Final Fantasy Crisis Core (Zack)
  • 9. Final Fantasy V (Galuf)
  • 10. Final Fantasy III (Luneth)
  • 11. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (Cid)
  • 12. Final Fantasy II (Firion)

  • 16. Final Fantasy VIII (Laguna)
  • 17. Final Fantasy X-2 (Paine)
  • 18. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (Mog. =p)
  • 19. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (Benjamin)

I'll have more on my view of each game at a later date. :fox:

Yay to Yzarc for choosing a class, too. =p

Yeah. It allows for 'challenge' runthroughs (ex, FFI - All Fighter challenge, though that one's not very difficult, just an example) that the set roles don't necessarily allow for.

I liked the set roles as well because they were able to cover all necessary roles while taking some of the headache out of the customization.

Unfortunately for the games that allow customization, there is invariably one optimum party, which somewhat limits the practicality of otherwise viable combinations. For example, in FFV, any attempt to go without someone with !Control and !Blue takes a lot of fun out of the game because those few super-strong enemies in the first third of the game are nigh-impossible to defeat, and when the player returns later to the same areas -- sorry for vagueness, trying to avoid massive spoilers -- and your characters could kick the enemies' asses were it not for the fact that the enemies no longer exist, you're left wondering what might have been.
