This is to discuss anything regarding music, any genre, etc. Feel free to analyze works using theory, or just say "I like this style of music because it sounds good." Or anything in between, of course. I was actually surprised no one has started something like this already, so I jumped on it. This can also be an opportunity to ~~shamelessly plug~~ share local or little-known music for those of us that, like me, are into that kind of thing. ---- As for me, I've played piano for about nine years now (though I'm no good because I never practiced). I'm currently one of the vocalists and guitarists of Repress the Cadence, a Virginia-based experimental band. I'll post the link if that's alright. If it's not, a moderator/admin can just remove it. http://www.myspace.com/repressthecadence I also play bass and clarinet. Music I'm into currently includes The Dear Hunter, The Receiving End of Sirens, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Muse, and Circa Survive, among many others.

絶望した！！！ Posts: 1,213 Group: FEFFer Member #1,306 Joined: June 11, 2007	i love to play musik! i started alto sax in 4th grade and played it for 9 years. i picked up guitar in 10th grade and played it for 4 years. just last year i bought a bass so i became a bass player. Currently i only play bass for my church band but i'm trying to start an actuall rock band. i like to listen to metal, but like to play softer stuff. (Chill musik)

Swarley Posts: 1,767 Group: Veteran Member #1,035 Joined: January 2, 2007	I played Saxophone for Symphonic and Jazz band. Alto AND Baritone sax. Also, I kinda like all types of music from Jazz to Classical to Rock. I usually stay away from Metal or Heavy Metal (except Dragonforce) though.

Speed Metal, Viking Metal, Symphonic Metal mostly, but I'll listen to mostly anything out of the genre. I like the old metal too, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, and Dio are wtfwin I also like classic rock, like Pink Floyd, Queen, and shiz. Generic pop rock is okay too. Basically Ill listen to anything if it sounds good, though.

絶望した！！！ Posts: 1,213 Group: FEFFer Member #1,306 Joined: June 11, 2007	My Sax is nothing special. Bundy II. it a beginner level honestly. But i did enjoy learning how to read musik with it. It was really my intro. It got me started with learning beats and scales. I started guitar on my dads old 35 year old guitar that he played when he was... like...20. but then i got my own beginner level California stratacaster. I still play it with my Washburn 20 watt amp. nothing special, but it's alright for jamming by my self. I fixed up my dad's old 12 string guitar. I have no idea what brand it is because there is no brand name on it anywhere . but it sounds like a dream come true! everytime i play it i feel unworthy. I later bought an Oscar Schmidt (off-brand Washburn) and it plays better than the piece of crap acoustic i started out on. My bass i am probably mostly proud of, and use most, performance wise. I have a Washburn XB100 Bantam Series. it was cheap, but plays well. Buying online is smarter after all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaz5AVkps-Y (THis is not me...but it is the same bass) i play on a Crate BT50. 50 watts, and comes with octave and distortion! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ as for my musik taste...i respect all musik as art. i can atleast understand why people prefere one genre over another. whatever floats your boat. but what i like the most when it comes to my metal taste is stuff like: Avenged Sevenfold, All That Remains, Shadows Fall Apocalyptica, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Seether, Puddle of Mudd, Three Days Grace, Trapt, 3 Doors Down, System of a Down, however, i do find Dream Theater, Rush and DragonForce fun to listen to when the mood strikes. and as far a foreign musik, i like Rammstein, Maximun the Hormone, Hyde, L'Arc~en~Ceil, ofcourse there is Megadeth and Metallica too....lets just say i like everything...to an extent. oh...and Andy Mckee is the best guitar player ever!...period

Cant stand that. Maybe cause of the dicks that drive with their basses blaring all around here. but I finally got the disturbed albums 10 thousand fists and indestructible and love them,

Check The Blueprint... Posts: 1,271 Group: Veteran Member #60 Joined: June 9, 2005	I'm joining. I play guitar and bass guitar. The story of me playing instruments is kinda weird though. I started taking electric guitar lessons when I turned 11, and got hooked. I played a lot and became fairly good (I'm no music prodigy however damn 9 year-olds on Youtube playing Rylynn and stuff), and picked up bass at 13. I stopped playing music like 9 months after that (which I regret having done) because I thought that football, soccer and boxing took up all of my free time. I started playing again like 2 months ago, and I'm very out of practice. x_x I'll get to correct some of my bad playing habits from before, which is good, but still. I pretty much spend 2-3 hours playing guitar everyday now, and sometimes play bass too. I own an Ibanez Gio GRX20 electric guitar, a Peavey Milestone BXP 5-string electric bass (don't really play it much, but it sounds funky and I like that XD), and a 40ish year-old Vicente Tata y Tomas classic Spanish guitar that belonged to my mom (it sounds pretty clean and deep despite being old). I also have a Digitech RPx400 pedal and a Fender Frontman 25R amp. Oh and I listen to everything but country. Absolutely every kind of music. XD I like punk rock and metalcore/post-hardcore the best though.
