This club is about evaluating anime like some big shot funny movie reviewer. Like those robots who watched old movies and talked trash about it through out the showing. The point of this club is to The rules are as follows: 1. Respect your fellow FEFFer. We know you're an anime Connoisseur, but you don't need to be a dick about it. 2. Write more than "dbz is teh awesomeeeee!!!111 any1 else duznt thnk so sux" because not only will you be kicked from the club but probably hunted down by the masses of FEFF... Or burned by Da Niggaz or Yzarc. 3. I agree that Gurren Lagann is a fantastic anime that makes hair grow in your chest, but you're encouraged to review other anime that may not be quiet as popular like Lain... Who the hell has heard of Lain much less had the sanity to watch all of it? 4. Have fun. I wouldn't make this club if I thought it wouldn't be. 5. Avoid uber spoilers... Like telling the big secrets and stuff. People might hate you if you ruin the anime you were excited about. |

Title: Kyou Kara Maou: Got Save Our King (?) Genre: Action, Bishounen, Fantasy Watchability: Bad (Sometimes Toxic) Story: Once upon a time Yuri Shibuya was your average He is mystically sucked into the tolet and into another world. There he thinks he's in some theme park while some plot stuff happens that I don't care about. His godfather and soon to be child molesting advisor arrive to tell him he is the king of the Demon Tribe and take him him off to do royal stuff. It gets better. When he gets to his sweet Something compelled me to keep watching, perhaps it was my love for pain that Tiara has forced upon me. It takes a while for something of a plot to form; even when the ball gets rolling I couldn't help but be bored with it. The few episodes I liked were balanced out by the fact the main character was a retard and those around him had a little more sense than he did. The girls are mildly hot in this series. But being the king of his own land he doesn't impose his royal self upon them and shag them. Instead we have more gayness than I can handle and I'm proud about how much gayness I can endure before having to enjoy my 500 MB folder of busty women. This anime is not even an interesting gay. Gayness aside they managed to keep things moving enough for me not go into a coma. Now comes the question of "Should I watch the rest of season two and start on season three?" The answer is the same to the question of "should I bring my pet toaster into the bathtub with me while plugged in?" Story: D Characters: C Art: C Recommended: No |

Title: Kaleido Star Genre: Comedy, Drama, Fantasy Watchability: Good Story: The story starts off with young Japanese girl, Sora Neigino’s arrival in America, with the By a fluke, she is able to join Kaleido Stage even though she is late to the audition and is kicked out of said audition (the reason why allowed people to see her do a flip over an entire fucking street). She joins because the Boss of Kaleido Stage, Kalos, recognizes her potential; also classic. Now, Sora has an idol; Layla Hamilton. Layla is hot and is a world-class acrobatic who makes several women throughout the course of the show become lesbians for her. But that’s beside the point. Sora’s first major obstacle is a bet with Layla. A week to master a technique that won the world over or she leaves Kaleido Stage. The trick? Layla’s famous Golden Phoenix. Now, the funny thing is the fact that even though she is acrobatically amazing, she hasn’t learned… anything. So she has no experience with the trapeze, which is necessary. So a week of SUPER hard work passes, and she does the Golden Phoenix. Kind of. She doesn’t catch the other trapeze. Even though she “failed” she passes as well. The main plot of the first arc is subtly revealed by the show’s most amazing character, Fool. Fool is the SPIRIT OF THE STAGE. He’s small, super perverted, does tarot, and is, simply put, a spirit/ghost. Now, the only people who can see him are those WHO CAN PULL OFF THE SUPER LEGENDARY MANEUVER. Too bad you don’t even find out what it is until the last 8-ish episodes of season 1. Why? Fool doesn't tell her because if he told her then she'd try to do it and she would die like those before. She's gotta be "confirmed" first, with one other person... Still cool though. Now, you must be wondering. Why, in hell, did I watch this and enjoy it? Because I liked a lot of elements of the show. It might have something to do with the fact that a lot of the womenz were hot for animation 5 years ago. It might also have something to do with the fact that I’m a fan of Cirque du Soleil. Actually, it has a lot to do with it. The Circus in this anime is very similar to Cirque du Soleil. There are a lot of very daring tricks. Another reason why I highly enjoyed this anime enough to watch all 51 episodes and the OVA under four days was the main character. Most animes have the main character win at life every time, yet in Kaleido Stage Sora fails a lot of times. It’s more realistic (besides the omg wtf h4x tricks) than many drama animes such as this. There’s an epic Diabolo Performace, and so much other things. Now, that’s just general stuff. Season 1 was very good to me, because well… simply put it was good. Season 2 started off ok, but was very annoying for some time due to some gay shit that happened, but ended on a very nice note. The music was very good, except the only good opening was the first opening. Character depth was also very good, and development was decent as well. Story: A for Season 1, B for Season 2. Characters: B Art: C Music: B Recommended: Yes |

Welcome aboard. Maybe I'll try this anime out. Sounds fairly good. =D I always have a taste for the odd or unusual or just right out something different. Edit: However in a way it sounds kind bleh. An anime about a circus? But you have high praise for it, I can't turn it down yet. |

Title: Darker than Black Genre: Supernatural, Sci-Fi(?) Watchability: Decent Story: I'll just copy Wikipedia here: "Ten years ago, an inscrutable and abnormal territory known as Hell's Gate appeared in Tokyo and altered the sky and decimated the landscape. The heavenly bodies disappeared, replaced by false stars. During this time, people who possess various special abilities emerged. Kept secret from the knowledge of the masses, these individuals, known as Contractors, are able to murder in cold blood. Various nations around the world use Contractors as spies and agents, often resulting in violent battles for information. Each fake star has a corresponding contractor, and they vibrate when their contractor's power is being used. As such, contractors are usually identified by their star's Messier catalogue number. However, their abilities are gained at the edge of their humanity. They are implied to lack human emotions which includes no aversions to murder, and they are regarded as extremely rational and logical in their decision making. Contractors are thus named because of their need to always complete a remuneration or payment each time their power is used (ie. eating flowers, breaking fingers, drinking blood). Contractors usually work for one of various rival Syndicates as spies and assassins." The story is actually pretty deep and interesting if you care to follow along closely. This isn't an anime where you just casually watch--you must pay attention to what's being said or you WILL get confused. The story moves in arcs; every two episodes will encompass of a single arc, and this trend lasts for a good part of the series, until the end, where the final phases begin. That said, this show had a nice set of characters. You have Hei, who's pretty cold, yet he can change his personality at any time he wishes, and this makes for some enjoyable comedy. He's pretty ruthless and carries out his mission to the best of his ability, whatever the cost. Then there's Mao, the talking cat. This guy is hilarious, awesome, you name it. He's always following Hei around, popping out at random times and giving him advice on things. He's a contractor, despite being an animal, and he has some nifty powers. Oh yeah, he can talk too. There's Huang, the old guy who's pretty much the leader of the group. He's NOT a contractor, so he acts pretty coldly to Hei and the others (until later, that is), and he generally dislikes contractors, yet he works for the Syndicate, and as ordered, gives Hei missions to accomplish. He's in general a pretty awesome guy, and stays one. The doll who never talks, Yin, is also an interesting character. Her backstory is revealed rather late into the series, in my opinion, but nevertheless, it's fun to see her character slowly grow and develop. I wish they would have given her more screen time and developed her further, for then she could have become a really good character. November 11, arguably the best character in the show along with Hei, also makes several appearances. The police woman (forgot the name), is pretty important as well, but I never liked here. There's also Amber, who looks a lot like C.C from Code Geass, and you'll either find her annoying, adorable, both, or well...yeah. A warning to the reader; since this anime works through two-episode arcs, there are several characters that only appear in the said arcs, and then disappear for the remainder of the anime, only to make some appearances later on, but nothing major. However, there are major characters that appear for the whole series. The music is great, the voice acting is great. I especially loved the first opening "Howling", sung by Abingdon Boys School. The fighting is great as well. It's awesome to see the various different powers each contractor in the show has, and it takes a little time before the viewer realizes what Hei's true contractor power is. Some of the fight scenes are breathtaking, while others aren't, but all-in-all the action was awesome. For a Bones anime, I rather liked Darker than Black. For the misinformed, Bones is responsible for creating Eureka Seven, an anime I rather despise (despite the fact that I am a huge mecha fan). But hey, if you're familiar with Bones, then by all means try this out. Story: B - A little hard to follow and confusing at times. Characters: A Art: B Recommended: Yes ...I hope I did that right? |
