There have been some issues as of late, concerning people changing their names, and others not being able to tell who they are. One side of the argument thinks there should not be a rule concerning noting your previous identities in your profile or signature, as getting warned for something so small (which could eventually lead to a ban) is ridiculous. Then other side wants an easier way to tell who people are, as a courtesy from other members. First off, the staff HIGHLY encourages everyone to note what their former identity is. Please, if you change your name from what you are commonly known as to something else, please note who you are in your signature, avatar, profile, etc. The next change will try to help members be able to figure out who people used to be. Its basically adding a format to requesting a name change. When requesting a name change, one must note what their former name was, and then what they want their name changed to. Example: Former Name: Sentenal Please change to Trabant Those who do not follow this format simply won't get their name changed. Also of note; If someone comes directly to an Admin to get their name changed, the Admin will document the name change in the Name Changing topic. I realize that this probably won't please everyone, but I tried to do my best to get a compromise in. |
