http://twm.co.nz/hologram.html So, apparently electrons have the ability to communicate with other electrons instantaneously, regardless of distance, which directly contradicts Einstein. Thus, the universe is not real. |

Hmm... I suppose my only gripe with the argument lies in my current understanding of a hologram: as an image created by light with no substance. Consequentially I struggle to think of my brain as a hologram, espeiclaly when it has mass and volume which cannot be condensed. |

Brains in Jars/10 The latest false universe theory always feels so much more authentic because we seem to be making so much progress in the field of science. Cool find :3 Edited by Myke, Nov 12 2008, 11:22 PM.

Wow, way to inspire an existential crisis in me for like the fourth time this year, science. I love-hate these kinds of discoveries and theories, because it's all so fascinating but then I think too much about it and get really depressed. >___>; |

Agree mostly The other day, for whatever reason, I began to think about the beginning of everything, and how if there was a beginning of existence, there would have to be a time when existence was not. It really fucks your mind over if you actually try to think about that kind of stuff. |

I'd really recommend taking an intro to philosophy class when you guys get into college if this crazy kind of thinking interests you. |

And then talk to me, cause I've declared a philosophy major. I actually take stuff like this and reason it into a positive light instead of this depressing crap. |

This is rather mind-blowing. I don't really fret about whether we exist or not, etc. I had a meltdown about that back int 2006 after reading an article in Time magazine about the nature of consciousness, which was at the same time fascinating and yet the stuff of nightmares. |

This is unnecessary and contradictory. If the universe isin't real, then wouldn't that make everything in it unreal as well? |

I think I read that article. Time is pretty nice besides the liberal bias. Fucking Joe Klein and his gay smirk in every article he writes. |

*Shrugs* It didn't really blow my mind. The whole "this reality isn't really reality" doesn't really astound me. Call me when they find what's creating this "hologram" when that happens, then I'll be impressed. |

My grandpa minored in philosophy. My mom took a class and hated it, but I think it's much more up my alley than hers. I'll definitely take the class, but I already have like five other things I want to major in. But yeah, I also freak out when I think about how things began. I mean, we just can't know everything. I hate to quote Rumsfeld, but there definitely are known and unknown unknowns still out there in spades. |
