On the one hand I think Hilldog is somewhat qualified for the position and indicates that Obama seriously intends to compromise with people who had run against him and don't necessarily agree with him. That being said, I'm not sure I enjoy the thought of Hillary Clinton having any position in Obama's cabinet after the holdup she caused in the primaries even though she was all but mathematically out of the running, bringing about more division in the democratic party and suggesting that she would rather see herself in power than work with others to ultimately change her goals. We'll see how this goes.

This choice is actually good, imo. It's not a left-wing nutjob.

Don't make silly judgments like that just yet, because comments like that are likely to blow up in your face. The man's not even president yet, and all the fussing needs to stop. We have a president and he's not Dubbya. We should be thankful and not whine. Just saying. On the topic of Hillary Clinton becoming Secretary of State, I can't say I'm really surprised. I didn't particularly like her, but I can say she'll probably do a decent job, I guess. I don't exactly know how well she can handle foreign policy, but I'd rather have faith in the future of this country.

A lot of the stuff McCain got to use against Obama, Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers, Michelle's inane comment about being proud of her country, most of it was first used by Clinton. She conceivably could have lost him the election. The fact that she endorsed him after she lost means nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if Hillary bartered for this position in exchange for her support in the election. That's not a crack against the Democrats, Lieberman probably did the same thing. It's just politics as usual.

If Obama really wanted to choose a good secretary of state or secretary of defense, he should go with Powell, especially after the guy got stabbed in the back by his own party and he was forced to retire out of disgrace. And very few people can beat a 4 star generals experience in runnig a country. Plus Obama really owes him one for the endorsement. And if they really wanted to put hillary in a good place, then it should be on the supreme court. Two justices will most likely retire within Obama's first term, so he should have put her there. With that position, she could be affecting decisions that are very important to our nation for easily 30 years. A much better deal for democrats in my opinion Edited by Askio, Nov 24 2008, 12:43 AM.
