He needs to post to help out our activity... @Kovu: You were around for ECW's death. The entire process, literally. Psio was as well. Right? What went wrong? What mistakes were made that we shouldn't repeat? Sadly, I left for a bit right before it died and it died while I was away, so I wasn't around to help or watch what happened. |

ECW was an RPG that happened to have a forum attached. Eventually the RPG interest died and thus the forum went with it. Having long time members like Eagle and Psio quit part-way certainly didn`t help. ECW`s fatal flaw was that RPG > forum. FEFF has some issues, but that certainly isn`t one of them. ~ Kovu |

I think I owe an appology, I havent been the most active, but at one point, I liked to think myself as a fairly active member, I may not have posted, but I pretty much read everything that was relevent at the time. Now that Im hopefully back in action, I think its time for a major over-haul. The problem is simple, FEFF has gone stagnant, and people have gotten bored. I'm thinking a complete new look, a new name even. New RPG, new layouts, new advertising. FEFF Squared or somethin lol. Bring in an oekaki board for artists to come in, what we had was something even i enjoyed, something that even I strayed from EotZ from, which i was determined to stay loyal too... I all but left EotZ permanently for FEFF, and i want to see it succeed again. Peoples interests will always ebb and flow, the best part is that now we're recognizing that we have a problem, thats the first step. I think an Oekaki Board/Paint Chat Board would work over quite well, attracting more artists (like myself) and once things get rolling, monthly contests. RPG contests (once a new one gets going) as far as, tankiest character, prettiest character, fastest character etc. etc. I know theyre relient on rng stat rolls, but if we have a list of the top five characters in each category, that would maybe give something for people to work towards and encourage them to be active. Maybe have like random drops of epic equipment after battles, so you never know what your really going to get after... Making more like a real-time gaming experience? I dunno... Figured I should post something... |

The RPG Staff will certainly take the RPG-relevant thoughts into consideration. And yes, if there is to be a second RPG it will certainly involve the players more-- as promised, using a mechanic that worked back at ECW. As for EotZ-- I kind of had to let that one go last May when things started picking up irl. Needed to dedicate what little 'net time I had to this place. You don't have to concern yourself with that place anymore as I merely keep it as a means of looking back and to keep logs. Something to appeal to artists more? Well, I'm all for that. Not being one myself I wouldn't be able to contribute to that department myself. ~ Kovu |

What happened was that it never got to the main dish. We had plenty of involvement for the appetizers, leveing up, grindan like nubs with shit, learning which stats mattered more and then abusing them. Everytime, though, when it finally came to the player vs player stuff, the big guild on guild stuff, nothing came of it. Player against player, in that community where the RPG was central, caused a ridiculous amount of inter-participant stress and tension. I would have to consider any statistical (or even written) system be restrained primarily to participants vs faceless mooks and NPCs. For the actual death, well, enough people saw it wasn't gettin anywhere so we left, because the forum had nothing else. For that matter, what -does- FEFF have, other than the struggling remnants of a crumbling social group? |
