In every playthrough I've done in this game, I just haven't been compelled to use him. I understand his growths, along with Sedgar's, are really stellar (or so I've heard - I haven't really felt the need or desire to check), but when I get the both of them, I don't see what makes them any better than, say, Hardin. 'Course, I know they weren't nearly as exalted in the original game - as a matter of fact, I recall people saying that they were quite awful. Neither Wolf nor Sedgar have amazing bases, they both start in a generally bad class, and since you'll be playing with a condensed team regardless of mode, I see there being enough characters at this point who completely outclass them, even with reclassing. |

Wolf and Segdar are amazing. People don't use them for their base stats. And you know you can change their class, right? >_>; Most people make them Generals/Knights. And bam, two good tanks. |

Aren't they unable to promote? That automatically makes them FAIL. |

And? Their bases are terrible. They have level 1-3 unpromoted bases with insane growths...that still don't compensate for the lack of 19 levels to gain and no promotional bonuses. |

Wolf Default growths as Cavvies Wolf HP 160 Str 100 Mag 0 Skl 85 Spd 85 Luck 50 Def 65 Res 0 Sedgar HP160 Str 80 Mag 0 Skl 95 Spd 85 Luck 30 Def 85 Res 0 ALL of their growths are amazing. Except Mag and Res, of course. And Sedgar's Luck is kinda sad, but it's not horrible. They'll catch up and probably pass your better units in no time. Edited by Tiaro, Mar 16 2009, 10:00 PM.

No. There is easily a tier or two between them and Cain/Abel/Frey. Cain, Abel, and Frey have usefulness before those two join. Earlygame h4x is always good. They will join with level leads over Wolf and Sedgar as well as supports already building, and Cain and Abel support each other, which is Alan/Lance and Kent/Sain all over again; broken. Cain and Abel will have a C with each other and Frey will have a C with Marth when Wolf and Sedgar join. Growths don't matter that much. It's about how they translate into stats. Wolf and Sedgar will start off way worse than the three earlygame Cavaliers, then pass them statistically for a few chapters in the midgame, and then get surpassed in the lategame. 20/20 Frey HP: 52.4 STR: 22.3 MAG: 1.0 SKL: 28.0 (caps at 20/17) SPD: 25.0 (caps at 20/15) LCK: 19.1 DEF: 15.6 RES: 6.0 20/20 Abel HP: 48.7 STR: 23.2 MAG: 1 SKL: 28.0 (caps at 20/18) SPD: 25.0 (caps at 20/16) LCK: 11.5 DEF: 15.6 RES: 6.0 20/20 Cain HP: 52.5 STR: 22.3 MAG: 1 SKL: 27.0 SPD: 25.0 (caps at 20/18) LCK: 18.2 DEF: 15.6 RES: 6.0 20 Wolf HP: 49.2 STR: 23.0 MAG: 0 SKL: 20.45 SPD: 22.45 LCK: 13.5 DEF: 17.05 RES: 1 20 Sedgar HP: 50.4 STR: 21.2 MAG: 1 SKL: 24.05 SPD: 23.15 LCK: 7.7 DEF: 22.15 RES: 2.0 They are horrible by comparison. The Top Tier Paladin trio has much stronger averages due to the amount of levels they gain and their promotional gains. Unlike relying on powerful growths, they have a lot more levels to gain and promotional gains, meaning their guaranteed stats are much stronger. -Frey supports Marth, Paola (Palla), and Katua (Catria). All of them are mobile units, and all of them are actually good. -Abel supports Marth, Est, Paola, and Cain. All but Est are both good and mobile. -Cain supports Marth, Katua, Abel, and Est. All but East are both good and mobile. These supports are all convenient and all but Est are useful and practical. The Cain/Abel support is actually a two-way support. Katua has a two-way support with Cain and a two-way support with Frey. Paola has a two-way support with Abel and a two-way support with Frey. Katua has a one-way support with Marth. Sheeda (Shiida), another mobile character that has a two-way support with Marth rounds out this stupidly good team. Throw in Oguma (Ogma) with his one-way support with Sheeda and his two-way support with Navarre (Nabarl), Barts (Barst) and his one-way support with Oguma, Julian for thieving, Hardain for being good and having a one-way support with Marth, and Maric (Merric) with his one-way support with Marth, and you have an amazingly good team that supports each other like crazy, covers every area possible, and is composed of top/high tier units entirely. Wolf and Sedgar aren't even needed. -Wolf only has a one-way support with Hardain (Hardin). -Sedgar only has a one-way support with Hardain. While Hardain is most certainly a good unit, it's just one one-way support for each of them. That's pretty crappy, lol. Since Hardain is getting used almost all the time, I guess they can benefit from it and be pretty decent overall. However, they're not top tier. Not at all. Wow, I already know exactly how I'm going to rape hard mode in this game. Edited by Ema Skye, Mar 17 2009, 06:12 PM.

When measuring a character's worth, what does another characters ability when they aren't there have to do with it? This topic is "Measure Wolf" not "Compare Wolf". |

If you ask me Cain, Abel, and Frey aren't that great. Too unreliable. Unless mine just got super RNG raped or something. They look about even to me with those averages. Just depends on what your preference is. Also, I don't think the averages are accurate for those two. It's pretty easy for them to get RN blessed. And supports...Meh. Only an A is really worth anything. No conversations kills the point of supports for me. Edited by Tiaro, Mar 17 2009, 09:28 PM.

How the hell do supports even work in this game? Seems they took a major shortcut on that, too. ~ Kovu |

Wtf are you smoking? You've been here long enough and have known me long enough to know that personal experiences mean shit and averages are what matters. If something can be RNG-blessed, it can also be RNG-cursed, and this goes for Wolf and Sedgar as well. They're not even with those averages. They are all about the same in HP, Str, and Def. The Paladins have more Skl, Lck, and Res. lol @ "no conversations kill the point of supports" That doesn't matter when discussing how good the units are. Cain, Frey, and Abel have way more supports. They get lots of bonuses and give a lot of bonuses out. Wolf and Sedgar do not do this with anyone but Hardain, and they are only receiving bonuses without giving any in return. Fail. This looks like their cycle to me: Earlygame: They are mediocre when they join. Midgame: Wtfgrowths make them powerful quickly...if they gain EXP like unpromoted units, which I don't know yet. If they gain EXP like promoted units, they will just be normal here. Lategame: Still just normal, but definitely weaker than the earlygame Paladin trio. |

So apparently I didn't know that class swapping causes growth changes, making those two faggots broken as Generals. It looks like a banned list for a debate tournament would be pretty fucking big with this game. |

Wolf is great later in the game, he winds up being able to take zero damage from any weapon except magic, which is easily remedied with res stat boosts. |
