So, for the past month or so, all I've seen on the news is bad news and yeah, I feel sad for the times and the US. I really felt sick to my stomach when I read this "A horrific weekend — and month Much as one wanted to, you couldn't escape news this weekend about a trio of slayings. On Friday a man shot and killed 13 people at an immigrant center in Binghamton, N.Y. On Saturday a gunman in Pittsburgh wearing a bulletproof vest shot and killed three police officers responding to a domestic disturbance. And the bodies of five children were found in a Washington state mobile home, shot by their father, James Harrison, who had just been told by his wife that she was leaving him. In the past month a string of shootings has taken 53 lives in the U.S. Yahoo! News provides ongoing coverage. " -yahoo article That along with Korea's missile launch and Obama's fight to end nuclear weopon production. I just see bad things happening now and in the future and quite frankly, I feel sick and sad at the same time. When I heard about the cops being ambushed I almost started to tear up. I know it might be a little too sensitive but I just feel like (I know, way too religious for a forum baord) "what does god think when he loosk down at us?" I dunno. My mind is all over the place and I feel out of touch with myself and all these things happening is just making me so sad. ...just venting your thoughts? |

Yep, everyone's going mad nowadays. I think we all feel the same as you do. Dwelling on it won't do us any good, though, remember that. |

Yawn. Call me apathetic, but things socially are no different now than they were in 2000. |

those who pay attention to world events would notice the changes and probably be scared. but those who choose to remain uninformed about what is happening just keep going through their everyday routine like nothing has happened. this is also why the general public is utterly retarded when it comes to important desicions involving international crisis'... or voting issues. unfortunately, i am more apathetic when it comes to many of the international events. however, i am not exactly blissfully ignorant either. This is the world we live in. You'll have to take the talents you're given, use them, and make this world a place worth living in. Yeah, it's paraphrased from a Genesis song, but it fits so well it's ridiculous. |

I lost cable a few months back. I only use the internet for hockey-related news. The only other "news" topics I read are ones I'm linked to. Suffice it to say I'm in my own little world. Ignorance is sometimes the best way to deal with things. At least for me. I have my own problems to worry about, I don't have room to take the weight of the world onto my shoulders. Just try to not let it affect you too much. It's sad, but not your problem. I suppose I agree with Shinobi. ~ Kovu |

the problem with saying its not your problem now is that it may very well become your problem later. It's a very complicated, annoying, and particularly vicious cycle that constantly repeats itself. "Forcing ignorance and complacently to shield one's self is in truth arrogance and stupidity." I'm not saying that applies to anyone here(especially those internet, computer, and cable cursed like Kovu), but feigning that nothing is going wrong is a big mistake. Just as long as you realize that the world is sick, then its fine. That admission is decent start. This is also part of the reason I'm considering the JAG Core in the army after college and graduate school. Edited by Askio, Apr 13 2009, 09:55 PM.

well here goes another one http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090417/ap_on_re_us/hospital_shooting I'm kidna worried that it'll happen closer to home. I saw "Bustamante" and almost wigged out cus I thought it was a teacher at my old highschool (the one my little brother goes to now) but then again Mr. Bustamante last mentioned his age was 40-something and I don't know his first name, so I'm just thinking "what if? " like I always do. I really hope it doesn't happen anywhere near where I live or where my parents work. I would expect it to happen at where my dad works (UC Davis) cus I could imagine a hella depressed asian kid going crazy after getting a B on some test cus he couldn't afford to keep his car and lost focus....I dunno. Crazy shit happens at UC Davis according to the stories I've heard. My mom works at Sutter Davis Hospital, so anyone can go just about nuts around her office. I've already seen someone try to kill themselves at my school (when I was in highschool), so.... you nver know. ... sorry I just hella ranted |
