Well, sometimes you need to make trade-offs. A processor that's marginally better is probably worth less to you than a good graphics card, is it not?

Processing power these days is pretty over the top. No matter what you get, it's probably going to be enough for pretty much everything in the public market. What most programs need these days is a ton of RAM and graphical memory.

well I think 3 Gigs of Ram is more than enough and 2.6 GHz is pretty good too. Plus I love the design. The thing is it would be nice if I had a better graphics card cus I would like to play those nifty free MMOs cus I never had my own "file" per se. I've played WoW but on my uncles account so...
I figured since I love playing on XBox Live. ......and I do use the full HD....Blueray at work is a blessing IMO. ...the novelty will probably where off once I get a PS3 (if the rumors of a new design is true)

Give me the specs of the Laptop your using. Go on, I'll tear them apart, as would any other computing student. And trust me, your not going to be using full HD on an onboard graphics card.

A Processor isn't everything, dumbass.

the specs I think are
3G RAM
320 Gigs of Disk Space
BlueRay player/writer and ofcourse the other stuff
1600x900 resolution
I think its between 16 and 17 in monitor size
2.6 GHZ intel dual core processor
ATI Radeon 1300
1080p HD
5.5 Hours battery life on average
I like the camera and the eye motion security thingy
I think the 2 extra years of warranty bumped the price up about 300 but hey, with my luck lately it was worth it
I don't know what other stuff to put down....neito keybaord and nice movie making software and stuff...
EDIT
my bad, its 4 Gigs of ram and my desktop (techincally my moms but I got it for her) has 3
I don't know if there is a way of measuring how fast the themperture rises during use of a laptop but it doesn't get that hot, then again I'm just putting little movies together, not making freakin' CGI masterpieces

The graphics card isn't that bad for a laptop.

But a whole lot of the price is in that Blu-ray player, I'm sure.

Yeah. Because your laptop with 2.6GHZ is better than a laptop with 2.5ghz running SLI Graphics cards, with 512mb each. Learn what your talking about before you go calling people dumbasses. At least do it if you know what your talking about.

where does it say 2.5 cus where I'm looking it says 2.o and tghe graphics card is just an ATI 3670. And that one is 100 bucks more than the ticket price of the one I bought. Sure it has more disk space but the warranty only covers 2 years. (thats the only XPS I would get). The other one that is good is a Promise Pink one...I wouldn't get and wasn't even available back then. Plus the XPSs cost more last year than this year.

The Gaming XPS I'm looking at starts at about 1,500 with an invidia 8700. I heard an invidia 9600 was the only really affordable graphics card that can run WoW without lagging every once in a while....

wait
https://ecomm2.dell.com/dellstore/basket.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&itemtype=CFG&oid=ec0956bf-933a-43e5-9e55-787e1de3f45f#~1
So this being the only XPS I would pick out of the bunch, has a higher ticket price than my laptop did, and this discount wasn't offered last year.
Also, there would be interest on this laptop unless I followed the guidelines listed there. I already had a best buy credit csard and I don't have to pay interest for 2 years and its being payed off next month....
And no, I wouldn't get the other XPSs. I'de honestly and I'm not kidding, would only go with the XPS 16.
looking at this page of the gaming XPSs
http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/notebooks/xpsnb_m1730/pd.aspx?refid=xpsnb_m1730&s=dhs&cs=19
the only one I can afford (or could've back then )is the first one of the three and it has hella less memory and less RAM and its ugly as sin.
I don't know if you're looking at the little ones but but trust me I looked around before buying mine and no XPS had that much memory and was less than 1,500, honest to god.

(and whats with them having to be a specific color, I thought they came in hella colors)
