-Iran gets a nuclear weapon. -Israel attacks them (rightfully so). -Muslim world takes Iran's side and uses this as an excuse to attack Israel. -North Korea, Venezuela, and other random American enemies take Iran's side. -Russia and China do nothing. -America and the UK jump to Israel's aid. Etc. Who thinks this or something like it is seeming really possible right now? Obama's not being strong enough on Iran and North Korea and isn't supporting Israel enough. You mean Iran gets Nuclear Weapons, right? Israel and the middle east is a powder keg, even if Iran doesn't get nukes. It could be started by something like Israel responding to terrorist attacks, and going into Lebanon, sorta like it almost happened last time. I don't know if the US would jump to Israel's side under the Obama adminstration, and I doubt the UK would if the US doesn't. I don't think places like North Korea or Venezuela would do shit though, I don't think their presence in a war would do much of anything, unless they tried to invade the US or something stupid like that. |

I'm not all that worried about Iran, I'm convinced that North Korea is gonna start off WW3. He's just an unstable little fruit who probably gets off to the idea of starting a major global conflict. |

Yeah, made a typo. Fixed it. Makes sense. I don't think Congress would allow Obama's administration to stop our country from helping Israel. I think it'd look horrible for Obama to not defend Israel. He has to, and then the UK will follow. I think both of those nations, as well as a few others, would love to take a shot at America and her allies, so I wouldn't be surprised if they jumped in. Their presense would obviously matter, especially if North Korea has nuclear weapons, even if they're weakish. |

The President is the Commander in Chief, not congress. Do you think they would vote to declare war on whoever if Obama won't send troops? Obama's base are the crazy left-wingers, who are largely anti-Israel. He would lose his base if he supported them. Why do you think he hasn't really been supporting them like he should up to now, and would rather go around apologizing for America to the Middle East? Maybe if a war started, Obama would say something like "Hey guys, stop that, make love, not war", but that would probably be the extent of it.
The only way their presence in a war would matter, in terms of actually contributing to military victories, is if they had nukes. And even then I'm not sure if that would be considered "contributing to military victories". |

I think Israel would kick everyone's ass, just like their inaugural war when they were first established. Right Luke? Pwned all the Middle Eastern countries and took land from each of them, lolol. I agree with Wirt, though. Only North Korea is batshit crazy enough to stare the world down with their one lone ICBM. Iran is held in check by the fact that Israel probably has more nuclear devices than anyone realizes. It's that mutually assured destruction deterrent that will keep them honest. |

You do realize that the power to declare war lies with Congress and not the president, don't you? |

When was the last time congress voted to declare war on someone? And why would a Democrat-controlled congress do that? |

If shit's going down, I'm sure the "democrat-controlled congress" will not be afraid to pull the trigger. The majority may be Democrat but since when does that mean that the "liberal" side has a 100 percent guarantee that what they want happens. I don't truly pay enough attention to any of this, but I would assert that there are likely a lot of Democrats who are extreme left wing liberals, but perhaps many moderate liberals. Regardless of that, we absolutely need to come to Israel's aid in that given situation. Similarly, we need to be there for South Korea (or whoever that nutjob decides to blow up). I am most worried about North Korea to be honest. I'm worried in general, of course, of Obama. He's not what he's hyped up to be, and from the sounds of it he's apologizing to people for everything the US has given him. lol. I don't know if he can really be a great Commander and Chief. =/ |

If shit is going down, and it directly effecting the US, they wouldn't be afraid to. But do you honestly think a Democrat-controlled congress is going to hold a vote to declare war on Iran, because Iran and Israel are in a war, when congress hasn't declared war on anyone since WW2? |

The last time Congress voted to declare war was when we invaded Iraq. A Democrat-controlled Congress voted for both World Wars, IIRC. |

Congress hasn't made a declaration of war since World War 2. Democrats back then are different from Democrats now. The Confederacy was controlled by Democrats back in the Civil War, and I doubt you would consider those Democrats the same as current ones. |

I think if Iran is threatening Israel (or pretty much ANY country for that matter) with NUCLEAR weapons we'll be involved some how. Side question: If we haven't declared official war since WWII what exactly are we in now with Iraq and Afghanistan. They're obviously referred to as wars in the media, etc but what exactly are they considered legally? |

Congress granting permission to the President to deploy troops, if he deems use of force is necessary. It was a trend started back in Vietnam, I think. The President can send troops in, and if he wants to keep them there, he has to get permission from Congress. |
