Each country is entitled to one starting Emblem Key. Emblem Keys can be attained by killing the unit holding the key in battle. While leader units are the units which start off holding the keys, any unit may hold it. Attaining all the keys gives the key holder access to the Fire Emblem and collecting them is the driving force behind the countries.
