FE6 pwns

Seriously, what an awesome game. Enemies rape in this game, and Bows actually are good here. Weapons in general are balanced, and the game is very forgiving when it comes to building supports due to long chapters. And the storyline pwns. And so does that playable Brigand Gonzales. The game even goes so far as forcing you to use fail units to recruit better units. That's awesome.

After playing this game and debating for it, screw FE7. This game is so much better in almost every way except the soundtrack.

Discuss.

I think most people agree on this. And I 100% agree with Sent's post.

The graphics and soundtrack make me want to choke on my own vomit, but otherwise FE6 is a pretty decent game.

Although FE7 probably wins the title for "favourite GBA FE" because it has somewhat better developed characters. And nicer graphics and soundtrack. And it also has chapters that aren't just "kill boss seize throne". FE6 was severely lacking in that department. ):

I loved FE 6, but i'm gonna give it to FE 8, I liked the art style and the detail they paid to individual characters, FE 6 characters were a little too shallow in my taste *cough cough Clarine*

I'm sorry, how exactly do you choke on your on vomit at the graphics of FE6, when every single GBA FE game looks exactly the same, except maybe for a new tile set every other level?

I think he means the characters don't blink. Ain't that some shit?

Except for some minor artwork changes here and there, all of the graphics are the same, guys. And the soundtrack in FE6, in my opinion, was pretty baller. Don't forget FE6 was the first of the GBA FEs. Don't judge it by silly cosmetics. It's a better game.

I've always thought that FE6 had poor instrumentation for its music. They fixed most of that in FE7 (actually, just scratch the theme "The Path to Greatness" since that got a little screwy in FE7)...at the expense of in-game difficulty of course.

er.

FE6 had absolutely horrid eye-searing battle-sprite palettes? this was vastly improved in FE7 and perfected in FE8. also a lot of the mugs in FE6 are below-par. not forgetting nearly all the bosses in FE6 were palette swaps? FE7 had a few of those, but it was nowhere near as dire.

Mrgh. So much of it just sounds... lifeless at worst, kinda generic at best. FE5's soundtrack really set the mood for the game, and FE7's was varied and actually sounded quite interesting.

I dunno. I'm just biased because FE7 was my first and favourite FE game. I concede that it's harder and all that jazz, but overall it just doesn't feel as polished as the others do.

And, like I said, it's rightfully so that it isn't as "polished." It was the first in a series. Of course things improve after you've done something for the first time. I think that's a silly reason. I don't care if a lot of the bosses were palette swaps. They weren't particularly important characters. For the record, they still did palette swaps in FE9 (They just changed a few things here and there on the sprites as well).

they did it in fe 7 too. I remember the boss in the level where you kill the magic seal, looking exactly the same as some other boss you fight early on.

Wtf are you talking about? They were exactly the same. There is fundamentally no difference between sprite work in FE6 and FE7/8, except different units are colored differently. FE7 and FE8 had tons of palette swaps too. Did you actually play FE6? Or FE7/8? Any changes in the sprite work between the two games is incredibly, unbelievably minor, and certainly nothing that would make FE6 vomit inducing, while the other two aren't.

Nope. Case in point: mercenaries, nomad troopers, sages, snipers.

FE7 had... a few. FE8 had none at all, unless you count the generic soldier mug that appears in conversations.

Pretty much all the bosses except for the last half-dozen were palette swaps in FE6.

Oooh, condensing much? Yes, I have played all three.
