But I think RPGs are gay...!  I don't mean to be confrontational here, I actually have a point here. It's great that the forum has a revitalized RPG that people are participating in. (seems that way, anyway.) Yet, I would assert that the entire community isn't necessarily interested in the RPG. The Fan Art board is pretty much dead, and aside from a few topics being updated every now and then so is the Spriting board. Hell, people hardly post in Chit-Chat anymore. That being said, there has to be something other than an RPG to stimulate posting. It's stimulated maybe a little more activity from members, but when I look at the online list I sometimes wonder "are they just staring at the screen?" Aside from the Awards thing going on, there is pretty much NOTHING going on outside of the RPG. Now I'm not saying there always has to be something constructed to keep posting alive, but certainly in a "posting recession" (XD) that we're in now some effort should be made. This is my first forum, and is queer as it sounds this place means a fair bit to me. Yet, tbh it's getting boooring. I don't want it to be boring, I want to have fun here like I always have had in the past. To be honest, I don't have any real ideas, but I want to help; I want to see some change. I certainly would love to collaborate with SOMEBODY that's willing to actually do something about this. Wtf are we gonna do? ;_; |

Another forum I visit, they don't have a website or an RPG, or awards. Or anything like that. It's just members who like to talk about.. stuff. I'm fairly new to the site but it has been going strong since '06. And it's one of those forums with no specific purpose, talk about anything. Really, it's less about what events are sponsored and more about what the members want to do and see. I kind of wish we had a fresh group of newbies all show up at once so that the average newb doesn't feel alienated, as well we'd have some fresh perspective (topics, discussion etc.) on the forum. That said, the RPG is making the biggest contribution to forum activity at the moment and it always has been, while active and rolling. And heck, it's just started. Honestly, I've noticed that too. Unfortunately, the real things I'd like to talk about aren't popular subjects among the members here. I'm interested in music and recording technology, but no one here seems to be willing and/or knowledgeable enough to discuss it. =/ Bosco, what ideas do you have to make this place un-boring? I'm curious. Maybe if we all put forth some suggestions or something like that, we could agree on something a large portion of the membership likes? Maybe there's something else I could be interested in that I'm not thinking of at the moment. The reason I've lost activity is that I've become less interested in gaming over the years. Most of the people here have discussed Fire Emblem to hell, even though many of us don't even play the games anymore, or as much. The only games I really play anymore are Halo and Soul Calibur, and even that's rare these days. I've been busy with work and my band all summer. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing some music/production/recording discussion around, but I doubt that'd happen in any big way. |

You say this place is boring, and we should try to do something to get more activity, but how exactly do you think it would be unboring? Alot of people like the RPG, and it is generating a decent amount of activity. Thats at least something that we are doing, that is proving to work. Like, what forums to do you visit, that you think are fun to be at, that aren't boring? And what is it about those forums that make it that way? We are trying what we know how to do, but we can't do something that we don't know about. Otherwise we would probably be doing. For example: I post alot on Teamliquid.net, which is like the largest english Starcraft forum. It is incredibly active. It covers the Korean pro-scene very well, which is its core. The strategy forums there are active, they have live report threads for games, a huge database of SC games/vods, etc etc. All this generates an active userbase, who in turn generate the activity around the entire board, especially in areas that don't have anything to do with SC. Is there something like that we can do here? Fire Emblem isn't nearly as popular as that, and pretty much everything we could do regarding FE is already done on FEP. We have our RPG, and our members, but what else do we have, or can we do? If you have suggestions, let us know, but like I said earlier, if we knew some way to make the board unboring for people who don't like the RPG, we would probably be doing it. |

Crysta and Sentenal: ...that's exactly what I knew you would say. =/ Like I said, I'm not just complaining for the sake of complaining. I created this topic in the hopes of creating a discussion on what can make this forum more interesting OVERALL. I understand that I haven't presented a plethora of ideas to be utilized right away, but that being said: "Complaining's fine, but suggestions are even better," is quite possibly the most useless statement that could have been posted. I wanted people to communicate their ideas; this is a community after all. |

@Bosco: As far as suggestions go, what else does everyone here seem to enjoy talking about? Maybe you or some of the staff could browse through the more successful threads of any real subject matter and see if you can come up with something that way? Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything in particular though. It seems like random subjects and happenings in current events tend to get people talking lately, and that the RPG really is the center of the revitalization of the forum. Regardless of whether you like the RPG or not, what Sent said does seem to be true. |

Well... the gist of what you posted was a) RPGs are gay, b) there's nothing around to entertain you and this needs to change, c) you don't have any real ideas but you want someone to think of one. So unless someone thinks of something, we're more or less discussing the same problem we've been having since the beginning of the year with no real solutions being thrown our way. The only things I can think of that may stimulate things are fanfiction and the GFX contests -- and I don't recall any fanfiction authors or GFX artists hanging around here any more.

I'm not saying you are complaining just to be complaining. I understand that if people don't like the RPG, obviously they are going to be bored here, because other than that, and what limited general discussion that goes, there isn't much that appeals to them. Its just that if I knew of something that would fill that gap, we would be doing it. Its been a problem known to the staff for a while now. Its good to communicate ideas, but the problem is that no one is really coming forward with ideas. It isn't just you, but no one has had any, other than the people who are working on the RPG. |

I have a suggestion: just let it go. FEFF is a dead forum thats only get deader. This forums seen the most activity its gonna get as far as I'm concerned. With the exception of the RPG, not much else really goes on here. Heck, if it wasn't for that I wouldn't even be here as its the only reason I post anymore. If it ever tanks, I'm gone. But I don't see that happening anytime soon. And Bosco, didn't you migrate to Feez's forum? |

I can't be on two forums at once? o_o For the record, I'd be willing to try and get contests together in the Fan art sections.. however something tells me it's not a lack of somebody willing to support it... but lack of participation. >_> Also what about like online tournaments and shit. Like Smash, Halo, Pokemon, or some shit. Doesn't the knew Fire Emblem support Wi-Fi?
