So, I was dragged off to see this movie tonight. Before getting in, it was utter lunacy outside and I was already in a bad mood because of some unwelcome news from a prospective employer. After the arduous three hour wait I spent, the film was actually worthwhile. Unlike the last two train wrecks, the pacing was very good. And remarkably, the film is only a little over two hours long. It felt like a lot got done, so much so that the movie actually seemed longer than it actually was. The plot was coherent and insular enough that it didn't depend on the audience having seen or read anything about Harry Potter before. It was also entertaining and engaging that way. There's little fluff; everything either moves the story along or develops the characters efficiently. The writing is good, very witty with a strong delivery. The maturity of the actors is best displayed in this installment of the series. Overall, a very excellent movie. You don't have to be a fan to enjoy it. Fans will get the extra mile out of it, especially with background information scattered here and there, but everything that is critical to the movie's plot is explained within the film so that non-fans can enjoy it as well. I have not enjoyed a Harry Potter film since Prisoner of Azkaban. I really, really must suggest seeing this film.

I was really reluctant about seeing this because I thought it was going to be awful. HP6 is one of my favourites in the series, although that might be because it came after number 5... ick. I guess it'll be worth a look though. Can't be worse than Transformers was, anyway.

My sister re-read the book before seeing this and apparently hated it. ![]() So I wouldn't be surprised if it pissed off many a pothead. |

I saw it yesterday with my sister and her friend. It was a good movie, possibly one I'd see again, but it was solely average on conveying parts of the book into the film. My biggest beef: Spoiler: click to toggle

This is turning out to be like this: Book fans = HAET Non-fans = LOVE My sisters seem to be the exception. They're huge Potheads, but they loved the movie too. We got free passes to the IMAX premiere, so we're going to see it again sometime soon.

I agree wholeheartedly with Bryars. Though my gf re-read that part of the book and said it wasn't really as epic as I remember, I did think that it was definately missing. |

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that the other Horcruxes weren't even alluded to? Scene from Deathly Hallows: Harry: We have to go after Slytherin's locket, Hufflepuff's cup, and Voldemort's snake! Hermione: ...how do you know that? Harry: ... I don't know. |
