Character Name: Noddy VIII Nickname: Noddy Race: Human Class: Bartender Gender: Male Alignment: Tavern Good True Age: 21 Apparent Age: 21 Height: 6'3" Weight: 238lbs Birthplace: Mackily, Agustria Appearance: notably broad and muscular, a rather chiselled face for one of his age. His skin is tanned, but with the look of the windswept rather than the exotic; his clothes are also plain and rugged. He has golden hoop earrings from his pirate days. Personality: Noddy is friendly and rather bashful for a standard barkeeper, let alone a Noddy. He makes mistakes and is embarrassed by them, and lives in perpetual fear of his swashbuckling mother and her terrible clogs. He enjoys a drink more than he enjoys giving sage advice from behind the bar, but would never admit to this - he is determined to carry on in the tradition of his forefathers. Biography: The eighth Noddy in the line, Noddy VIII is a descendent of the original, immortal barkeeper. No Noddy in the line since has been immortal, and aside from the great man (who now runs the continent-spanning chain The Tavern Co., and the even farther-reaching Grog Enterprises for pirates) only Noddy, his father and his grandfather are left alive. Noddy VIII was viewed with some suspicion by his mother - not a descendent of Noddy, but a woman of aggressive temper and prodigious skill in the art of clog-fighting anyway - and was thus treated to the 'Noddy family progressive education'. This involved being bundled onto a pirate ship commandeered by his own mother at the age of four. Noddy had to scrub decks, drink absurd amounts of poisonous pirate spirits and fight for his food. He did all three with admirable spirit, particularly the last; Noddy is, like his ancestors, ridiculously strong. He grew up good-natured despite the noxious company he kept, for whenever the pirates put into port, Noddy had a place at a popular tavern - The Devil's Bagpipes - where he would laugh and drink with the friendliest of cutthroats, smugglers and prostitutes. In his darkest moments at sea, it was the memory of these friendly villains and outcasts which kept Noddy going. Having been on land for three years, in which time he has toured the continent with his grandfather being shown the way of the pugulist, Noddy has now been taken into the family business. He is on his two-month trial before he is given his Gold Keg - the symbol of a quality Noddy barman, and is terrified of failure, not least because his mother is 'overseeing' his progress. Moreover, Noddy can't quite account for the fact that he doesn't seem to have had any training in what drink is what, yet - he has already minorly humiliated himself with a show of inexpertise in front of what hope to become a regular crowd. Nonetheless, he will try - and if that fails, he can at least make sure there is nobody left to tell the tale. |
