So, I just got a DSi 'cause my DSLite top screen is so messed up, I end up spending more time trying to get it to work than actually playing. I love it and I was wondering... If I have the FE6 game on my Laptop, and have an SD slot on it, is it possible for me to copy my fe6 game onto the SD card can then play it on my DSi? I remember seen GBA cartidges for sale that you can put your ....downloaded games on so you can play them on the GBA, so I was hoping there'd be a away to sorta do the same with the DSi. |

I would think you need homebrew, because that's how it works for the Wii.

You would need homebrew for it. I use my R4 to play games on my DS but maybe there is some kind of program you can use on your SD |

The problem with GBA games is that the DSi isnt really backwards compatible anymore. So you'd need a GBA emulator to play GBA games on your DSi. I know there wasnt one for the regular DS (Had to do with the memory use differing between the GBA and DS slots, so GBA games couldnt be properly accessed from a flash card), so I kind of doubt there's one for the DSi. But regardless, even for DS roms you'll need homebrew stuff to play them. Worth a Google, I guess. |

See, I heard of R4 thingies but I'm kinda scared to look them up 'cause I've been to a few sites that looked a little unsafe, and even though I have protection..it's still a pc <__< but yeah, I heard of the R4 things that are like blank DS cards that hold your games and stuff. I don't know how to go about getting started, what I need, how to get my games onto it and if it'll ruin my DSI when I put in regular games. I want to put on GBA games onto it since I can't play GBA games on the DSi I miss Mario and Roy

Uhh, you have to REALLY COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FAIL to get your DS(i) bricked. That doesnt happen, since for example the R4 is tried and tested. Ive used one on my DS Lite for over a year, no trouble whatsoever. And you cant really transfer your games onto them. You just d/l ROMS and put them on the card. Then you play them from Homebrew software. And all you need it the flash card itself (R4 for example), a MicroSD Card (they usually ship with one) and the software which is easily downloadable on a myriad of sites. BUT the DSi has different security stuff compared to the DS, so make sure your flash card is DSi compatible... else you'd be wasting your money. Other then that, it's quick and easy. And if its just for GBA games, I'm not sure it'll work period. |

Ok kool cus I heard some horror stories (for the ds light, I haven't heard any for the dsi) I already have the games I want on my laptop, but I'm not sure if all I have to do is copy the file onto the card. (asking cus I know where I can get one in person but they don't have the manual for it) and...is Homebrew on teh R4 card? like, will it open up and be like "Play Games" and other options or is it something for the computer? 'cause I already have an emulater for my comuter which I'm sure most people use. I'm not exactly software savy with this sorta stuff. I still have trouble with syncing shit to my psp |

Horror stories tend to be exaggerated by people who dont know what the fuck theyre doing and dont read the manual. I swear to god it's like a 3-step process, and people STILL fuck it up. All you basically do after getting the card is c/p the homebrew shell (think like a mini-OS) to your SD card. Then you can use it as a ROM-player. You c/p the ROM files over (I use a Roms folder to store em in, but anything goes). The Flash cart is for in your DS only. You transfer files with a card reader, so it's just drag n drop. It's kind of like your computer. You can browse folders then you select your ROM. But unlike no$gba the flash cart has MUCH better compatibility. As in, if you can get past/crack any piracy protection, it should play flawlessly, as if you owned the cart. |
