I liked that one song that they made for the twilight movie cus she really belts out some good vocals but I havent heard it live so I don't know how much of it is modified. I also like the new single they made or whatever, the one with the video where they're in...a closet or something with one light bulb, haha.

I like Paramore, too, but they're not my favorite band or anything. Not to mention The Dear Hunter's and The Devil Wears Prada's releases earlier this year. I happen to believe both of those bands are far superior musically.

They're metalcore. The guitarist in TDWP definitely belts some sweet vocals. And the vocalist from The Dear Hunter is my favorite vocalist, and a huge inspiration. If you're not into the metal style at all, you might steer away from TDWP (Although you'd be missing out on some great music), but a lot of people dig The Dear Hunter, so you should check them out.

Death metal takes its name from a band, Death, and the fact that they are mostly derived from the musical style that Death pioneered. Screeching isn't a right descriptor. Guttural vocals is more accurate in that they are made from the back of the throat and 'from the gut.' (screeching is a head voice) Themes are also darker, etc. Metalcore is a fusion of metal and hardcore punk (particularly the tempo and themes from the latter). It mixes clean vocals with screaming, drums are usually heavy, guitars play a fast chord progression rather than more virtuosic arpeggio-dancing, etc. Some death metal fans are fucking nuts, so be careful about what bands you call "death metal." For example, Devil Wears Prada... is not death metal. Wiki's explanations are far better. Listening to the different kinds of music is also enlightening. Youtube "Arch Enemy" for a death metal band, "All That Remains" for a metalcore one.
