I don't see why you'd be upset, Light. It was a dumb rule made in an effort to protect gays from those in their units that might harbor hostilities. It's kind of like regulating flamebait on a forum. However, the rule was frequently abused to 'out' homosexuals in the military, usually as some sort of retaliation, and it was usually the gay person in question that was discharged from the military, not the one who outed them. So tell me, how is that fair in any way? also, this topic is a little more srs than chit-chat imo; moving

Now if Russia wants to draft me thats a different story.. and i'm worried what kind of protection he'll offer to gays in the military. In that group, gays are particularly harassed. >.> but i'm not a political science major so I got nothing

I'm for this, though the obvious repercussions are more open hostility, but perhaps also more protection to fight this. This also brings the question of military service. If you can die for your country, I believe you should be able to vote, drink, drive, and do whatever the hell adults do. Obviously some regulation is needed, but I never have liked the difference here compared to Germany in those regards. This does bring the idea of if you can volunteer to die, shouldn't you be able to pursue whatever relationship you want? Besides, its mostly just sex life. I don't see the dominatrix's and their slaves getting discharged out of the military, and I think that is crazier than most things.

Only openly admitting to being gay in the military. I'm sure that disciplinary standards won't change; harassment is harassment, and platoon leaders will enforce discipline in a military environment. Discipline is important because, in the field, you're going to have to trust your squadmates with your life. Also, Svetie, expatriates can't be drafted by their home country, so you're fairly safe. I say fairly because if the U.S. and Russia war, they may opt to either export or restrict all native immigrants from Russia.
