Posts: 14 Group: FEFFer Member #2,324 Joined: October 14, 2009	ok so i kinda like spriting and i decided i'd make a fire emblem sprite type thinger. i haven't made one of these before, so i was a bit taken back by how difficult, yet simple they are o_o. I kinda did it pretty quick, so forgive the sloppiness. I also got lazy towards the end and didn't feel like spriting her clothes, so i just plopped her on top of Farina's body, so don't mind the odd head tilt. And the lower part of the hair is pretty clunky, mostly from the rushing. tell me what you guys thinnk~~

Posts: 9,958 Group: Veteran Member #603 Joined: February 2, 2006	For your first sprites just stick to recoloring. Splicing requires some more understanding of how spriting goes. And as a spriter you're supposed to fix head tilts and what have you. XP But it's really not that bad. Although, I don't think the ribbons in her hair should be the same color as said hair. >_>;

And I love making my own crap so for now I'll probably just stick to half splicing and eventually move on to fully custom. The body is just a temp. right now, so the head tilt'll be gone once I decide to get off my lazy bum and sprite her some pretty clothingg. And those aren't ribbons, they're actually little pigtails, so I'll work on making that more apparent XD. Thanks for your crits though♥ I appreciate it~~

Watch your shading - I zoomed in and noticed that you lack an outline on the hair (which is fine if you're going for an anti-aliased look), among other issues. I'd suggest that you look at how Fire Emblem sprites are shaded, because you've got some pillow shading on the hair overall. Her left (our right) eye is oddly bright and the shading between the hair and face is off. I can give you more advice via MSN or PM if you're interested. Keep it up, I'd love to see more of your stuff.

I took your advice with the shading and outlining and tried to make it better, and I also removed the poor pigtails and gave her some healer-befitting clothing like I originally intended :x. She still has the annoying titled head, but I have no clue how to fix that. Maybe she's just very relaxed and lets her head tilt :x I may try and do a battle pose thinger and see that that fares later tonight xP. Edited by Trout Lips, Oct 17 2009, 11:41 AM.

Posts: 14 Group: FEFFer Member #2,324 Joined: October 14, 2009	Thanks for all your advice guys, I went ahead and spent quite a bit more time into perfecting it and I /think/ I've worked out the majority of the kinks. I worked on shading the top part of her hair more, but there's really not a whole lot i can do,since it's sleek and not all rough and messy. @Adam: They're actually strands of her hair pulled back. I realized the left one (our right) was a bit dwarfish so I thickened it a bit. @Renegade: Thanks for the critique! The brightness of the hair is actually FE's fault, as I did take the color from Lute. I went ahead and played around with a few new colors and found some I liked. I also tried to make the eyes a bit less choppy, so here's hopin'! Edited by Trout Lips, Oct 20 2009, 01:28 AM.
