True enough I suppose. What would be nice is if there were less arena and more quest battles. It seems quests usually get more attention than the arena. That or someone make a program to make arena battles easier to do.

Hmmm, maybe. I need a requirements document of some sort. In short I want to know how you want it to work.

How do you want input to be handled? What will input look like? How do you want output to look like? What should the interface look like? etc. The guts of it won't be too hard, just the data handling.

Something akin to this could work, only FE-style and does the battle for you. That way a judge just could copy/paste.

Implementing terrain and skills would make it a step above calculators in the past.

Terrain would be easy. Skills are something else... <<; I'd really have to think how to implement that.

So only one unit vs one unit?

One versus one would be a good first step, since it could also be applied to quest/campaign battles. The three versus three can come later.

I figure the interface will be simple. Kind of like this:

Weapon Stats (players could perhaps just use this instead of the above, but putting in 0's for most of the stats and filling in the totals here, the above can be used to generate initial stat blocks in case there may be some mathematical errors)

Critical: [input]
Uses: [input]
Base Range: [drop down - 1/1, 1/2, 2/2]
Range Used: [input - typing in 1 would assume the weapon is being used at close range (1/1), typing in 2 would assume the weapon is being used at a distance (2/2). If the unit countering has a 1/2 base range on their weapon, they will counter regardless.]
WTA/WTD: [drop down - none, WTA, WTD -- obviously both units can't have WTA or WTD]
Effective: [check box - yes/no]
Ailment: [drop down list - lists the possible status ailments that will be inflicted on the target if the unit manages to hit]

Other Stats
Skill #1: [drop down]
Skill #2: [drop down]
Support Affinities: [drop down - various support combinations]
Support Rank: [drop down - C, B. A]
Terrain: [drop down]




Possibly produces two stat blocks, so this could also be used to make keeping track of those easier too.

Battle sequence yadda yadda shit happens.

Battle results + gains. Possibly generate a new, updated stat block.

Possibly indicate if a unit levels up, though generating the actual level up may be a bit much (since it'd require also inputting growths). Indicate if a unit is slain.


That would get most of the grunt work done, as well as make things more accurate and less mistake-prone.

I'm not sure how easy it'd be. I'm not a script guru obviously. :NomNomNom:

EDIT: Or you could just make a drop-down list of all the weapons. >>;; But that takes a lot of work on your behalf.

I finally gave in and decided to make some program for this site. It's supposed to make battles a little bit easier by calculating battles with certain input. It's mostly for the arena since that is solid number grinding.

This is the thread for discussing that. It'll take a while, so we'll see how far I get.

Eh, worst case I just drop the project. I'll dump the code and maybe someone in the future may pick it up if I quit it.

Well, it just seemed silly we were doing all this math by hand.
