He was crying his little eyes out as Sayid tried to feed him. Nancy offered to help and she carefully held Aaron and hugged him. She sang him a beautiful lullaby. It was an infamous French lullaby that Shannon recognized from her time in Paris. Aaron calmed down and began to fall asleep. Shannon got out of the bed. "That was beautiful Nancy." Sayid agreed. "I thougt Aaron may have been hungry. I have never really taken care of a baby before." Shannon sat in a nearby chair and placed her right hand on her chin. "Claire..." Sayid went to comfort her. "Claire would have wanted us to take Aaron out of this island. He would die." Shannon hugged Sayid. "All the people we are leaving behind... we don't even know if Jack is dead or not!" Aaron began to awaken and Nancy quickly started to sing the lullaby again. Seeing the ruckus she was creating, Shannon excused herself and went outside. She stood at the end of The Elizabeth. Looking out into the horizon. The island wasn't even visible anymore. She remembered promising Jack that she would never leave him and yet here she was on this boat leaving him. There was no point going back if he was not going to be with her. She couldn't possibly tell the people to turn this ship around. They wouldn't listen to her. Her only hope was to jump off this boat... "Hey." Shannon turned around to see Nathan. Her eyes were still watery. "Don't do it Shannon. Jack would have wanted you to live. You have his kid. He loved you very much." "I promised him I would never leave." "I promised Hurley to tell Locke about Danielle, but I guess sometimes promsies can't be kept." Shannon remembered Hurley telling Nathan to warn Locke about Danielle. She wondered in her mind why Hurley would tell them that. "Do you think Locke's life depended on this warning?" Shannon stared directly into Nathan's eyes. Nathan tried to fight the guilt away as he stared away from Shannon. "I hope not." The two stood there quietly looking at the ocean for a while. "Why are you going back Nathan?" "I am going back because even if my life was just pathetic before I crashed onto this place there is still a chance I could change it." "Your life couldn't have been as bad as mine." Nathan stared at Shannon and then put his right hand on her left shoulder. "I knew your brother Boone. We were best friends once." "Oh.." Shannon didn't know what else to say. "He's the one who told me to save you and Kate." Shannon was really emotional now. Nathan hugged Shannon and the two shared a very emotional moment. "This island brought us all together Nathan. What a coincidence that you happen to run into Boone in the same plane. Or find your brother Ethan. There has to be a reason for all this!" "Or your lover..." Nathan stared at Kate who was on the other side of The Elizabeth drinking coffee with Donald and Jason. Shannon also stared at Kate. "You knew her even before you crashed on this island?" "Yes. Weird huh? The island brought my best friend, brother, and the girl of my life back."
