Locke Day 27 Entry 1 The beach camp seemed empty. Everyone was gone. Not even Claire was present. Locke looked uneasy towards Hurley who also looked wary. What had happened here? Had the others attacked them like they had attacked the tempest? These questions remained unanswered as Locke searched every shelter and Hurley every immediate surrounding jungle. “Could they be in the Hatch?” Locke asked “The Hatch? Do you really think they would want to be in that place? Why wouldn’t they stay on the beach?” “That Hugo is what we must find out” “I think I will stay here. You will be okay on your own won’t you dude?” “I understand and I’m sure I can take care of myself. I will see you later Hugo” Departing him Locke couldn’t help wonder if he himself should stay on the beach with Hugo. Needing to find someone, anyone, he proceeded towards the Hatch and uncertainty. |

There's a Man in My Pantry Jin guessed that Libby and Claire hadn't really taken Michael out into the jungle - he supposed they knew what the answer to Sayid's question was going to be and knew it was best that Walt didn't hear. Looking around at Danielle, Sayid, Artz, Sun, Steve and Ana, Jin swallowed a lump in his throat and prepared himself to break the bad news that another one of them had died, when Rose unexpectedly spoke. 'They killed him. My Bernard, he's gone now and it's their fault and there's nothing we can do about it. He was tricked - they tricked him and he's not coming back.' Jin was stunned at how clearly she had just spoken. He was about to continue when she once again interupted him. 'So there's one less of us,' Rose had marched straight over to the open plan kitchen beside the seating area. Sun and Steve turned on the sofa to follow her, Sayid took a step forward but then hesitantly looked at Jin to see if he knew how to proceed. Artz appeared glad the attention was just off him. Jin was about to speak again when Rose banged down a bag of flour on the countertop. 'One less of us - but we've got one of them in our pantry,' she mused, pointing the rolling-pin at the homemade cell, 'and that's something.' Impressed by her pro-active approach, Sayid asked 'So we're agreed then? Raise your hand if you believe the man in the pantry is an Other-' Sun lifted her hand into the air, followed by Ana. 'If we didn't fly with him, we shouldn't side with him' contributed Steve enthusiastically and another raised hand. 'AMEN to that!' proclaimed Rose thumping a ball of dough with her fist from the kitchen. Jin and Danielle both nodded their agreement, throwing uncertain looks at Rose. 'Mr. Artz, would you care to partake in the democratic process?' queeried Sayid under a raised eyebrow. 'Funny, I didn't think your lot was all that familiar with the democratic pro- Never mind,' said Artz with a sigh, 'It's the 'no fly' 'no side' rule I suppose...' 'Then it's settled. The man claiming to be Henry Gale doesn't leave his cell. On to the next item of business...' suggested Sayid to the group. There was silence uintil Sun decided to speak. 'Are you okay Ro-' 'I'm fine Sun,' replied Rose with a little too much emphasis on the 'fine'. 'Rose you've just lost-' 'Your husband may have forgotten Mrs. Kwon,' snapped Rose brandishing a whisk in Sun's direction - but the flash of anger passed and she returned the instrument to the mixing bowl as she finished her sentence, 'And God bless him, we can excuse him of that after what he's been through, but when we were taking care of the garden two weeks ago, you told me it was your birthday tomorrow, and I haven't forgotten. So I'm baking you a cake.' The room hadn't expected that answer and looked on bewildered. Rose meanwhile took no notice, giving her full attention instead to the mixture she was now pouring into a baking tray. 'So Steve, I expect you to have found that Pictionary board by the morning,' chimed Rose as she slid the baking tray into the oven and set the timer, 'Heaven knows we should be clebrating the life the Lord gives us, and not bemoaning the life he takes away. Now if it's all right with the rest of you,' she said with a forced smile as she took off her apron, 'I'm going for a lie down. Sayid, be a dear and make sure that man in the pantry doesn't eat the icing sugar.' And with that she had disappeared into one of the Swan's bedrooms, leaving Jin and the rest of the room in complete and utter stunned surprise. |

Day 27 ermm....3 I think. The details of this may change tomorrow with an edit or two, but the essential content will stay the same. And Heimdall, you ain't got nothing on me in terms of post length...) Leslie Arzt It was late in the day and most everyone had moved out of the hatch to escape the stuffiness. Locke, a latecomer to the earlier meeting, had been assigned to 'guard' Henry Gale. Locke. Hmmm... that's one face that hadn't been cycling through his thoughts lately, ever since that scary lady had begun entering his dreams and whispering to him. I'm not a murderer he remembered telling her. You can't change fate, she had responded, just as he thought he had heard a whisper, Fate approaches. He almost could feel the whisper on his skin, and he batted at what felt like a fly. Arzt slowly trudged down the tunnel, unsure of what he was going to do. Could he do this? he looked at his hands. he reached a small cubby in the tunnel, and he looked at the wall. There was a drawer, and he opened it. Like he expected, it was empty. He recited what Beatrice had told him. He pressed down and shifted the wood clockwise, and a circular hidden panel was revealed. And under the panel was a pistol with a silencer. He removed it, and something clicked as he saw it. This was part of his mission. Both missions. He could do this. He had to do this, for Jennifer, for Henry, and for Karl. Out of his bag he pulled out another of his weapons. Bea didn't know he had this. He had gotten it from Hank, the real Henry Gale, before he had died. He walked through the kitchen and saw the cookies Rose had made earlier. Deciding he was hungry, and not sure if the Others had anything good to eat, he put his gun down and took a cookie. "Mr. Arzt," Locke's voice said from around the corner. "You going to eat all of those?" "Me?" he asked sheepishly. "No," he said, terrified that Locke had found him out. "No need to be scared, I was just asking," he said warmly, walking over towards him. The pistol was out of site, but the other weapon was very visible. It was a hand sized rod that used ultrasonografic waves to incapacitate a foe. It was the same weapon he used on the Smoke Monster, dialed down to human settings. But to work on humans, it had to be placed directly on the bone behind the ear, the mastoid. "What's that?" Locke queried, visualizing the sonar weapon. Cringing, Arzt stepped forward, hoping to keep the pistol hidden, "Oh, this? It's just some... thing," he said as if that cleared everything up. "Where'd you find it?" Locke asked, appraising the device. "Well, it's a sound thing, I think. It makes this funny buzzing sound," he said as Locke snatched it from his hands and he panicked. "Isn't this the same thing you used on that monster?" Locke asked as he put it up to his ear and pressed the button and it let out a high, but soft, pitch. "Uhm, yeah. But it doesn't work that way," Arzt said, resisting the urge to take it back greedily. "It goes back here," he pointed at his own mastoid. "Here?" Locke asked as he pressed the button and collapsed as the frequency knocked him out. "Yeah," Arzt nodded, relieving Locke's limp hands of the weapon. So he didn't have to kill baldy. That was good, considering all the problems that Locke had. Finishing his cookie, he walked over to the pantry and entered in the passcode. The door opened. "Ah, Mr. Arzt," the man said simply, "I didn't get a chance to thank you earlier." Arzt was puzzled. "Thank me? For what?" he asked sincerely. "For getting me locked up in here," he replied, exasperated. "Obviously there's no place I'd rather be." Arzt found this as odd, but didn't know how to respond. So he said, "You're not Henry Gale." "That has been well established." "Do you know where he is?" "So you do know him?" the man queried, and he looked mildly puzzled. "I'm surprised that I didn't know that. I figured you were sent here from my people to rescue me." "Who says I'm not?" The man responded by simply looking at his bonds. "This leather sort of speaks for itself." There was a short pause. "Oh, Jennifer!" he said in revelation. "Jennifer Gale was your old friend. And she married Henry, and that was how you know him." "How do you know that?" Arzt asked, becoming agitated. He had put away the sonar weapon, he did not want the Others to know about that. But he now held the revolver, and it was slowly rising towards the captive. "So Gale's alive and on the island somewhere then? Is that what this is all about? What, are you here to kill me? You've got to be joking - Leslie Arzt, assassin?" Ben let out a cold laugh. "Many have tried, Mr. Arzt, but I must confess, this is the closest anyone has come," he cocked his head to the side in consideration, "Quite embarrassing, really. I can think of five better assassins, three of which are on the island right now, and a fourth that was on your plane. Although I do believe the fourth failed in his most recent mission. But I get caught by... well, you!" Arzt wasn't sure what should happen next. He decided to stick to the plan. His plan. "If you get to that part of the mission, Arzt, don't trust him. Whatever you do. You'll have to travel with him a ways until you can get off the island, so you can't carry him, and there isn't any way you can brainwash him. You just have to keep safe from him, but control him. Force is the only way to do that," Hank had said. "Untie yourself," Arzt ordered. The man looked ready to object, then smiled coldly. He shifted his arms a bit, and the bonds seemed to simply melt off of him. He rubbed his wrists and stood up. "I don't think we've met properly, Leslie. I'm Benjamin Linus," he said, reaching out his hand. Arzt shrugged and shifted the pistol to his other hand, and suddenly found himself locked in a struggle for the revolver. it went off once and Arzt marveled at how quiet, yet not silent, it was. The two fell to the floor and the gun slid away. Arzt's backpack tripped him up and he reached for it as Ben reached for the gun. The backpack's strap caught Linus' foot, causing him to stumble, and as he did, Arzt was dragged in the direction of Ben and the gun. Somehow the two reached the gun at the same time and were wrestling again, until - "Oh my gosh, what are you doing?" some Latino girl demanded, "He's going to kill you, Arzt!" "Actually," Ben replied, "He was trying to kill me." "I was not!" Arzt protested. "I was rescuing him." "Rescuing him/me?" the Spic and Ben echoed. "But why?" Fighting for the words, Arzt responded cryptically, "Because this isn't the place he needs to be." The Mexican kid considered this. "You're right," she said. "Whatever is going to happen to him, it isn't here," she said darkly. "Well, I hate to interrupt this colossal meeting of the minds, but we had better get going. I think your buddy Mr. Locke is stirring, and I know that at least three others are in the living quarters here. Follow me," he commanded. The girl shrugged and followed, saying, "We can't let anyone catch us, Arzt, let's go. Watch our backs," she ordered, and Arzt was becoming a little miffed that first his prisoner, then this Spanish woman were ordering him around. Nonetheless, Arzt was now responsible for their rears. He took the responsibility very seriously, so Arzt began waving his gun around reminiscent of how Magnum PI used to do it. He was soooo like Tom Sellick, that he really wasn't sure how they didn't come and find Arzt to play him on the show originally. "Through here," Ben said as he opened a door that was somewhat hidden, and as he did so, two things happened simultaneously: Firstly, a large one legged black man on crutches hobbled through the doorway, collapsing onto Ben, and secondly, as Arzt swung his pistol around, he hit a wall, then saw the big black behemoth and panicked. Either he squeezed the trigger, or the gun went off when he hit the wall, but he preferred the latter, because the bullet lodged itself firmly in the black man's neck, and copious amounts of blood soaked Ben and spattered onto Ana Lucia. "Henry!!!" Arzt whispered desperately as his two conflicting missions fought with his caring for his friend. "Arzt..." Henry gurgled. "I'm done. Do what you have to," he whispered as he died. At that moment, Arzt had to run. So he did. Right through the door, pushing past Ben and Ana, and right up the tunnel where this leg of his journey began. He stopped to vomit, then proceeded to run back to the Barracks, screaming and crying, half crazed, the whole time. Edited by DarthHaggis, Nov 17 2008, 06:18 AM.

DESMOND Day 27 Entry 2 Desmond and Karl meandered their way up to the Barracks. Desmond found Karl to be surprisingly helpful and candid. "So you're one of them?" Desmond inquired. Karl responded with a straightforward "Yep." Desmond probed further, "Who are you people?" "Well, most of us were brought here, to study the unique properties of this island... Me? I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut." "Study? So you're a group of scientists?" "I guess. I don't really know. I've lived here with my Mom for as long as I can remember." There was a pause in their conversation as Karl seemed to focus on their whereabouts. He then continued, "So what about you? Were you in that plane crash?" Desmond cracked a little smile, "Wish I was. At least then I'd know why I was here." "What do you mean?" "Well, much like your people, I was brought here." "Are you a scientist?" reckoned Karl. "Not unless you consider drinking a science." remarked Desmond. "So who brought you here?" "Do you know a man named Kelvin?" "Yeah, I know Kelvin. He brought you here? That's weird. Usually the only person who brings outsiders here is---" "I need to see Kelvin's living quarters." Desmond vehemently interrupted, "Do you know where that is?" "Umm... Yeah." "Can you get me in?" "I suppose. There's not too many of us around at the moment, so it should be easy enough to sneak you in. Follow me. There's a window that I always leave unlocked." Jack Shepard Day 27: Early Morning Jack awoke from the comforts of his cage. He didn't get much sleep last night because he kept on hearing strange noises and all he could think about was Shannon. He lay there taking Juliet's advice and just thinking about all the happy thoughts he could remember. Their picnic, Claire giving birth to Aaron, Jack and Jin smoking outside the hatch at night.... so many good thoughts came to his mind. "Hi Jack. Would you like some coffee?" Jack turned around to see who was calling his name and to his surprise it was Cindy! She was accompanied by an elderly looking lady. Jack didn't know how to react to this. After a minute of thinking things through he realized he could use some coffee so he accepted the offer. It was still hot and it smelled really good. "Be careful Jack it's still hot. Amellia you make some great coffee!" Cindy was drinking her own coffee. After a few sips Jack thought it was time for some questions, but before he could ask any.... Amellia asked Cindy if she could help her feed the animals in the zoo. Cindy was most pleased by this and quickly replied positively. "I would be honored to help you feed the animals Amellia! I'll see you around Jack! Bye!" The two were gone. Jack sat in his corner and just drank his coffee. About a half an hour later Juliet arrived. She seemed very happy today. Seeing her smile brought even more hope to Jack. "I see somebody woke up on the right side of the bed, I however do not have a bed to sleep on so please excuse my behavior." Juliet laughed softly to this incredible joke. "I have some good news Jack!" Tears came out of her face and she quickly wiped them away. "What is it Juliet? Don't keep me in suspense!" Juliet held his hands and gripped them tightly. "Shannon is alive!" Jack could not believe this... tears of joy came out his eyes. He hugged Juliet and thanked her. "Oh my god thank you Juliet!! I thought Isabel killed her!" "The reason she is still breathing is because she is pregnant with your child! In here, pregnant women are very important! The important because... oh never mind it's just a long and boring story! Congratulations Jack you are going to be a father!" Jack was feeling so many emotions right now... he was finally a dad and Shannon was alive! He felt like he won the ultimate prize. "I want to see her Juliet. Please let me see her." Juliet put her face down staring at the ground and Jack already knew the answer. "I can't Jack. I will try my hardest so you can at least pass by and see her for a moment, but right now you are not allowed to speak to her. Until you start to obey Isabel and Richard you are forbidden to see her. Would you like something to eat Jack?" "Yes please I am starving. Thank you so much for this news Juliet! I really mean it! I will try and be on my best behavior from now on. Oh my god I am a dad now!!" Jack held his head tightly and smiled. For a few moments he had forgotten he was a prisoner and was inside a cage. Juliet went off to get Jack something to eat. Now more than ever Jack knew he had to escape this place with Shannon. Edited by slick14805, Nov 17 2008, 08:56 PM.

Juliet Burke Day 27 ~ Scene 1 Day 26 FLASHBACK: Juliet arrived at the medical center near the zoo. It was a very nice place that was powered by solar powered energy. It was one of the few places that still had any power. It was just a matter of time before the people working on the coal mines worked double shifts to fix that problem. Juliet entered one of the patient rooms fully expecting the pregnant patient to be Kate when to her surprise it was Shannon! Shannon lay there on a bed crying. "Hello Ms. Rutherford my name is Juliet Burke and I will be fully responsible for the birth of your baby." "Just please leave me alone! You people just want to torture me!" "Ms. Rutherford I am not like the rest. I have some great news that will cheer you up. Jack is alive and well. In fact he too is feeling just like you right now wondering if you are okay." Shannon was pleased to hear about Jack and she was now crying because she was happy. "I also have even more good news for you. According to Bonnie you conceived just a few days ago so it is still too early to know if your baby is a booy or a girl, but I think it is safe to say who the father is..." Shannon hugged Juliet and thanked her for this news. She was now very happy. "Oh my god... I am carryng Jack's baby! I can't wait to see him and tell him this!" Juliet placed her hand on Shannon's shoulder. "I am afraid you cannot see him right now. However if you wish I can tell him the news for you. I am sure it will please him just as much as it pleased you. I have a feeling he can use this piece of news to cheer him up." "Yes Ms. Burke please tell him! Tell him that I am fine!" Juliet then went off to make Shannon some chicken soup. As Juliet left Jack's cage after telling him the news. Her happiness turned into sadness. She hadn't told Jack she had to inject him with a pacemaker and the odds of Shannon giving birth were 50/50. It was rare for anyone on the island to get pregnant and for some reason it is quite dangerous to give birth here... Edited by DarthHaggis, Nov 17 2008, 08:58 PM.

The James Ford Chronicles - "A Slap In The Face " "Wake up" "Shut up girl, I'm sleeping" Sawyer said as he slowly woke up from his long and deep sleep. Day 27-1 Cindy Chandler Dark eyes with long eyelashes opened. Her pupils constricted as the dim light hit her eyes. How long had she been asleep? She had arrived at what the Others called the “Hydra Station” two days ago. She had been questioned by one or two people pretty thoroughly, but that did not bother Cindy. She was looking for truth, and she was patient. She got out of bed feeling slightly drugged. She shrugged. Time heals. She opened her door, and standing there was an elderly lady. “Good morning, dear,” she said pleasantly. “Oh, hello, Amelia,” Cindy said, trying to hide her startlement. “Are you ready for breakfast?” “Yes, I am,” she responded. “Well good, I’ve baked muffins.” Amelia was carrying a tray of said muffins as they sauntered throughout the Hydra. The two took a leisurely stroll through the facility, which was really quite beautiful. They passed an area that was partly underwater and had a good view of a nearby reef. There were dozens of colorful fish and fauna. Cindy was overwhelmed with the beauty. They came up to a waterfall that sprayed mist throughout a clearing, keeping it cool. The light reflected through the water suspended in the air splaying a milieu of rainbows around them. It was like walking through a diamond. On the edge of that clearing the facility had a small kitchenette with drinks and some food. Cindy and Amelia stopped to get coffee and to eat a muffin each. “Take an extra cup with you,” Amelia encouraged her, and she obeyed silently. As they walked, Cindy sipped her coffee. Cindy turned her head to the side for a moment, “Is that an elephant?” she inquired. “Yes,” Amelia smiled, with a warm glint in her eyes. “They’re beautiful. After we visit someone you may know, you can go see them.” Cindy looked at her quizzically, but did not respond. They walked another 20 feet, then entered a clearing with two large cages sitting across from each other. Inside the cage was Jack Shepherd, age 37, flying out of Los Angeles, she recited. Walking over to him, she said, "Hi Jack. Would you like some coffee?" Jack turned towards her, and after a moment or two of confusion, he accepted the offer. "Be careful Jack it's still hot. Amelia you make some great coffee!" The elderly woman smiled warmly at the praise. Cindy turned back to Jack, who looked as if he was preparing to ask a question when Amelia interrupted: “Come along, dear. Let’s go see that elephant you heard. I’m sure he’d love to have someone new to water him.” Cindy waved goodbye, feeling slightly foolish. Well, she had sold out, lock, stock and barrel. There was no hiding it. She was an Other now. |

Locke Day 27 "Because this isn't the place he needs to be." Locke heard through his daze. He felt dizzy and a little sick. Tricked by Artz of all people. How could he have been so stupid to be made an idiot by that lummox? Nonetheless he had to make up for it. Slowly regaining mobility he tried to rise to his feet but was unable to. “What? No not now! Please not now!” he desperately shouted as he pulled himself across the floor on his stomach. As he slid his hand suddenly became sticky. Looking at it somehow he had got blood all over him. How hadn’t he noticed? Then across near the kitchen a pool of the sticky blood lay next to a make shift crutch. Proceeding towards the counter he looked around it and saw a large black man laying motionless on the floor. He was missing a leg. Not wanting to waste anymore precious time in his pursuit of the traitorous Artz and “Henry” he grabbed the crutch and used it to help him raise to his feet. Leaning on the crutch he struggled to an open door not before looking back at the legless man. “Thanks for the stick. May you be found and buried with dignity my friend” He disappeared into the darkness. |

The Doctor with The Revolver in The Kitchen. Jin couldn't remember feeling more at ease. The discussion earlier on had gone relatively well, at least they had come to a consesus over Henry Gale. He was reclined on the couch in the largest of the Swan's sleeping quarters. Sun dozed warmly in his arms. Rose was asleep on the bed, at least he thought she was... 'Jin, honey, could you check the oven for me? If the cake's gone crispy on top you can take it out,' she asked quietly. 'No problem, Rose.' Easing Sun out of his arms he made for the door, silently slid it open and shut it tight behind him. The Swan seemed to have emptied out now as Jin made his way to the oven. A cloud os steam issueed forth as he opened door - the cake looked well and truly done. Grabbing a towel , he lifted the tray out and was making his way back to the bedroom when he noticed the cookie jar - it felt like an age since he'd had sugar, he'd almost forgotten....WHHOAH... He unexpectedly slipped and crashed onto the tiled floor with a thud. His arm ws drenched in blood. 'Odd' thought Jin, he couldn't feel anything. Perhaps it was shock...He was bout to call Sun when he realised there was blood all around him. He sprang to his feet in fear - a river of blood was running its course around the station... A cleaver was shining on the counter, calling out for Jin to pick it up. With the blade now tight in his hand he tip-toed along the banks of this bloody river, following its path as well as keeping an ear out for any other sounds. But he quickly guessed he couldn't hear any. The trail of blood led to a man crumpled on the floor - his eyes were empty. Jin was about to relax, if one can really relax after just discovering a dead body, when he suddenly thought of Hnery Gale- He kicked the pantry door open and all his worst guesses proven true. Henry was gone and another person had died because of these Others. |

The James Ford Chronicles - "Short Temper" "So this our Helicopter Pilot Frank he will be taking you back to the island", Said the Captain. "Hey how's it going?" Frank said raising his hand to shake it with Sawyer. His voice was deep and he has a rugged face with long grey hair and a grey beard. "Hello Frank" Sawyer shook his hand, "Call me Sawyer". Sawyer noticed a group of men talking loudly on the opposite side of the deck the men where listening to another man who seem to be there leader, he was a stocky man and was very load. "That's Keamy, I would keep my distance from him, he has a short temper" Frank said as he noticed Sawyer was staring over at Keamy. "Well I have a short temper too so he best keep his distance from me too" Sawyer said. "Come on I want to introduce you to the rest of your team that will be first to land on the island" The Captain interrupted. The Captain walked over to two women who where chatting. "Naomi and Charlotte will be accompanying you to the island" The captain said as he introduced Sawyer to the two women. "You must be James, it's great to meet you" said Naomi, here voice was British it reminded Sawyer of Charlie. "You wouldn't happen to be from Manchester would you?" Sawyer said as he grieved inside when remembering Charlie, this got Sawyer thinking of his friends on the Island and what they have been up too. "Yeah I'm from Manchester" Naomi answered as the shook hands. "I'm Charlotte" Charlotte was also another British women, she had ginger hair and her accent sounded much more like a southerner. "Where the bloody hell is Daniel?" as Sawyer walked away these where these where the last words he heard come from the womens mouths. It just came upon Sawyer those two women he hadjust met he had never met before in his life, so who was the woman that woke him up? "Here Sawyer Charles told me to give you this" The Captain lifted a briefcase and passed it to Sawyer."He said that you need it" "Thanks" "Oh and my name is Gault, if you have any questions you know where to find me". Day 27-2 Linus, Ben Linus (prior to Jin and Locke's posts) “I must say that I have a great capacity for predicting events, but I’m not sure I could have ever predicted that,” Ben told Ana Lucia mildly as he knelt to examine the very dead Henry Gale. Linus searched him quickly and removed a handgun from Gale’s inside shirt pocket. He put it in his own pants pocket and quickly located the pistol with the silencer that Arzt had dropped a few seconds before. “C’mon. We gotta go,” Ana Lucia told him. “Of course, Ms. Cortez, of course,” Ben commented calmly as he finished searching Gale. He removed a small rod from his pants, and some papers. “How do you know my name?” Ana Lucia demanded. “That’s a good question Ms. Cortez. It may be better to ask why I care,” Ben suggested. “Shall we?” he asked, indicating the open door that Arzt had just fled down. With annoyed looks down the tunnel, then back into the Swan, and finally at the deceased Henry Gale, Ana Lucia retreated into the tunnel. Ben followed shortly after, offering a token salute to Henry Gale, his departed foe. The car wasn’t exactly moving at a high-speed chase velocity. The drivers were silent and did not respond to Ben other than to push him down into the seat and to issue various grunts as they drove off. Ben considered their lack of urgency as they fled. Widmore’s car settled in behind them, keeping close, but not closing in on them. And while the car they were in pushed the limits of what was appropriate driving, they were not driving dangerously, and were making no efforts to lose the car behind them. It was a trap, Ben realized. They weren’t afraid because the deck was stacked in their favor. Ben closed his eyes and tried to focus. Who was responsible for this? He began running numbers and figures in his head, and he remembered: ”What have you done? Where is Greta?” Ben asked, directing his voice at a computer screen. “She has been taken care of,” the tall bald black man responded on the other end of the phone line. “You killed her? I hadn’t realized that the game had moved to that level.” The black man smiled in genuine amusement. “She is not dead. But she will not be helping you.” Ben paused to consider. What did this mean? He needed her. “You have made an enemy today, sir.” Another smile. “We have stood in opposition for a long time, Benjamin. You just did not know it,” the man said as he shuffled some objects on the desk in front of him. He finished doing whatever he was doing and looked into the camera with a threatening glimmer in his black eyes. “Are you coming for me then?” Ben considered. Was it necessary? “I have no plans to. But I would be happy to meet.” “Then we shall. Sooner than you should think.” The black man. It had to be him. Ben had not yet seen the man, and that ‘promise’ was a short week or two prior. Was it time? And did Ben want to meet him now? Do you have any choice? he asked himself. There’s always a choice,Ben reasoned. The car pulled off of the freeway and approached an old castle. Generally unfamiliar with the British, or what he now suspected was the Welsh, countryside, Ben had never bothered to eliminate his ignorance on the surrounding geography. At first blush, the castle seemed to be in ruins. But if you looked closely, you could see a small shed with a long antenna on the roof to the side, and the ground was well trodden with people and vehicles. The car accelerated around a bend with a couple of hundred foot cliff to the left, and a forest on the right. As the car swerved around the bend, the driver through what appeared to be a grenade off the cliff, and turned briskly onto a dirt road that Ben hadn’t observed at first. The car slid between two trees and was turned off. Their pursuing vehicle rounded the bend as the grenade exploded over the side of the cliff. The sedan stopped and three men scrambled out to look over the cliff, expecting to see the wreckage of Ben’s car. They were wrong. Six men appeared out of the forest shadows with rifles and held Widmore’s men at gunpoint. Ben’s captors used no words. They were silent. Widmore’s men strangely followed suit. They were blindfolded and bound at the wrists. Ben was ushered out of his vehicle and led past the ruins of the castle to the shed behind it. Within the shed was a stone spiral staircase leading down beneath the earth. Ben was directed down the stairs, which terminated at a thick wooden door with wrought iron handles. One of the men accompanying Ben pushed the door open and nodded towards Ben, encouraging him to enter. He did. The door closed behind him with an echoing thud that reverberated throughout the new chamber. And as the door closed, all light fled the room. The size was unknown, but he guessed about 20x20 foot with an 8-foot ceiling. There was a flash of light on one end of the chamber as a man lit a cigarette. Cloves, Ben noted. “Hello, Mr. Gale. It is good to meet you in person. My name is Matthew. Matthew Abaddon.” Ben and Ana Lucia walked down the tunnel cautiously. Ben wasn't exactly comfortable with Cortez behind him. He hadn't had the opportunity to talk with her yet. He didn't think that she would be a reliable ally. He needed to be more in control at this juncture. As they walked, he saw an opportunity. Sobs from Leslie Arzt echoed from ahead of them. Ben had little tolerance for the pathetic. He lived in a world of pragmatism and focus. He lived in a world of knowledge and self-control. Not… this. Leslie Arzt was in a puddle of whimpering and whining. He pissed and moaned and cried, and Ben had no respect for it. Thankfully, it served his purposes. He walked right by Leslie Arzt without giving him a glance. “Hey, wait,” Cortez demanded. Aren’t you going to help him?” “Help who? Oh, that?” he asked. “That’s a person?” Ana snorted in derision. Sighing with deliberate purpose, Ben said compassionlessly, “If it’s important to you, bring him along. I can slow the pace some. But if any of your friends catch up to us, I’m leaving you two to fend for yourselves.” Ana gave him a disgusted look and tried to help Arzt up. “I shot him,” he sobbed. Rivulets of snot dripped off of his fat greasy nose, joining his blubber and drool in a little river that flowed into the ocean of Arzt’s shirt which was soaked with his sorrow. Ana Lucia attempted to avoid getting near this sea of disgustingness, but it was to no avail. Arzt grabbed her and hugged her close, howling , “He was my BEST FRIEND!!!” Ben stifled a chuckle as he watched Ana’s spine stiffen as the slobber and spit that soaked Arzt’s shirt was compressed into Ana Lucia with his firm embrace. He barely controlled himself as he commanded the two, “Come,” and walked down the tunnel. He was pleased as Ana Lucia obligated herself to assisting Arzt instead of keeping a wary eye on Ben. He enjoyed the measure of control it gave him. |

Nathan Rom Day 27 - Season Premier Entry "DYNAMITE!!!" A man yelled from afar as they all ran. A few seconds later a loud explosion could be heard. Nathan covered his ears trying to not go death. He was filthy and covered with coal. The island had lots of coal and there was another plant nearby that they used to give electricity to this island via the use of coal. A man came up with a large truck. He stopped the vehicle as he awaited for the men to gather up more coal. "Come along ladies!! Step to it!" Nathan and another guy quickly made their way toward the truck and they both lifted the wheel barrel and put the coal on the truck. "Thanks guy. Hey what's your name anyways? You've been helping me out a lot for the last few days." Nathan rubbed his head trying to swipe the sweat away from his forehead only to see that he may have covered his forehead in black paint. "The name is Donald. So how did they get you?" "Shot me with a tranquilizer dart while trying to escape. You?" "Got me on the first day when we crashed. Weren't you on the tail section as well?" Nathan tried hard to remember Donald and then he realized he did see him. "Oh wow. This sucks man almost every person from the tail section is here! Nancy is over there and the blonde guy is over there...." (http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Tailies) The two laughed and continued to get back to work. After an hour or two the truck was fully loaded and the man drove away. Ethan then showed up driving a red Jeep Grand Cherokee. It seemed like it was a 98 and it was the Laredo edition. he stopped and came out with some beer in tow. "Good job men and women. You deserve a reward." Nathan looked to his far right and he could see Horace and Steve chatting away. They all lined up and got a beer. Nathan gulped it down like there was no tomorrow. It was so refreshing. "In a moment the truck will be here and you will be sent back to your camp where you will rest until tomorrow. Tomorrow we expect the plant to begin operation!! We expect more coal from you guys by tomorrow!" People lowered their heads and groaned. "We are tired and our backs hurt! Please let us rest for one day at least!" To Nathan's horror it was Donald who was stepping up for everyone. Ethan approached the man and stared at him right in the eyes. "What did you say?" "We are tired! May we get some rest?!" Ethan pulled out a whip and began hitting Donald! Nancy and others looked away. Others yelled for Ethan to stop. Nathan ran to Donald's aide and Ethan immediately stopped. "You will rest when we tell you to rest you hear?!" The truck had arrived as the sun was just about settling down. Ethan stopped Nathan before he could hop on board. "I am sorry about that brother. Anyways tomorrow you won't be working here in the coal mines. You are gonna escape. You got that?" Nathan nodded his head and knew that tomorrow was the big day. He just only hoped all would go well.... Edited by slick14805, Nov 18 2008, 10:17 PM.
