Nathan Rom
Day 33: Entry 1

Hurley went off to find Michael as Nathan advanced towards the kitchen where Sayid was drinking a beer while Jack and Sawyer laughed. It almost seemed as if nothing bad was going to happen. As soon as Nathan entered Jack and Sawyer stopped laughing and it became quiet. Nathan saw what they were eating and immediately he became hungry.
"Pancakes?" Nobody answered him. Nathan took a seat and Sun served him a pancake on a plate. Nathan ate it up and it tasted so good.
"Well.... we better get going." Jack, Sawyer, Sayid, and Juliet were about to leave the kitchen when Nathan yelled out to Jack.
"Jack wait! We need to talk."
"Ummm okay. Why don't you guys wait for me outside of the hatch with Richard?" Sun hugged everyone as they headed towards the ladder of the hatch. Claire, Rose, Steve, and Frogurt also were there to wish everyone good luck. Jack and Nathan were now alone in the kitchen staring at each other.
"Jack i'm.....sorry."
"Don't...."
"No please hear me out!"
"I don't have time for this Nathan! Unlike you I have lives to save!" Jack was about to leave when Nathan finally decided to tell Jack.
"I have lives to save too!" Jack turned around and looked serious.
"What do you mean?"

"I was going to kill myself you know..." Nathan sat on a chair and held his head tightly. Jack didn't show any sign of pity for Nathan.
"Why?"
"I had no reason to live anymore. I mean I almost killed you and Kate doesn't even..." Nathan stopped talking as soon as he realized he was revealing a little too much.
"What about Kate?" Jack was now serious and was giving Nathan 'the look' that he does when he is angry.
"Kate and Shannon are in danger. Boone told me....."
"This is ridiculous..."
"Now I know it sounds crazy Jack, but then again isn't Hurley alive?! Boone told me himself that I had to save Shannon and Kate! They are in danger and I am going to save them!" Jack's expression changed when he saw the fire in Nathan's eyes.
"Richard said they wouldn't be harmed."
"Richard is a liar Jack! I don't trust him! What do you think is going to happen once you finish helping him out? He is going to do anything to recapture you! Even if it means hurting Kate or Shannon!" Jack looked at the floor and then walked around here and there.
"How are you gonna save them Nathan?"

"I don't know. But i'll figure it out." Jack didn't seem satisfied with this answer at all. Just then Hurley entered the room with Michael. Both had their luggage and were ready to go.
"Umm hey Jack.... I thought you were outside."
"He knows Hurley." Jack stared at Hurley and Michael with wild eyes.
"You guys are going with him?!" Jack looked at Michael for an explanation.
"Jack please don't try and stop us okay man! Walt is missing and I know they have my son!! I just know it!" Jack turned his attention to Hurley.
"Dude remember when I saved Shannon's life?" Jack got a little emotional.
"Yes Hurley I do. Libby told me."
"What if I was like brought back to save her again?" Nathan, Michael, and Jack lowered their heads.
"Hurley...." Jack put his hand on his shoulder.
"Dude it's okay. If I save her and I die it's cool. I just want to help my friends out." (Cue sad Lost music) Jack hugged Hurley.
"I don't want to lose you again Hurley. I'll go with you guys!" Hurley hugged Jack back.
"No dude you can't. You have to save everyone on this island. Don't let us down man." Sayid and Sawyer entered the kitchen asking Jack if they were ready to go when they saw the emotional scene.

"What's going on?" Jack explained everything to them.
"Hurley... Michael..... Nathan you guys don't have to do this!" All three nodded their heads.
"Yes we do."
"Nathan why didn't you tell me this? Instead you made me punish you when you could have easily told me!"
"I'm sorry Sayid. I have a history of being stubborn. Just ask Jack." Nathan stared at Jack and he was still recovering from Hurley wanting to die to save Shannon.
"Well.... you guys are off to stop people from coming here and saving this island while we are off to save our people.... good luck." Nathan shook hands with Sawyer.
"Who are you again?"
"Nathan."
"Good luck to you to." Nathan then stared at Sayid.
"I understand why you punished me Sayid and I just want to say that I forgive you." They both shook hands and wished each other good luck.
"Thank you Nathan. I was wrong about you. You truly are a good person." Nathan then stared at Jack.
"Jack.... I hope you can forgive me for all the things I have done to you. I am truly sorry for what I have done." Hurley and Michael hugged Sayid and Sawyer. They were walking away when Jack told them to stop.
"Good luck you guys. Don't you dare die okay?" Sawyer gave Hurley the gun that Richard had.
"Use this when you are in trouble okay Hugo?'
"Thanks dude."

With that they climbed up the hatch and hugged everyone else that was outside waiting for Jack's group to leave. Nathan said he had to do something else that the island requested and had to keep it confidential. (He didn't want Richard or Juliet to know what he was up to.) Jack's group went one way and Nathan's group went another. For a brief moment Jack and Nathan stared at each other realizing they weren't very different from each other after all....

Nature was in agreement with their plans. There wasn't a cloud on the horizon or a breadth of wind in Zephyrus's lungs. It was the perfect day for adventure and as the two groups stood outside the hatch, bidding eachother farewell, they each remembered how previous adventures had turned out...

'If you need me to stay...' began Sayid, but Rose had taught her how to silence someone with one look, and by all appearences, she had thought her well.
'We'll be back.'
'Don't promise anything Sayid. As soon as the words are out, they seem to lose all meaning on this island,' said Sun, but her face mouth didn't flinch, he brow didn't crinkle, her eye didn't crease. She was a woman who had grown accustomed to loss, and had now given up on gain.
'Just do what you have to do, and who knows? Maybe we can have pancakes again one day.'

As a trail of hugs and handshakes, winks and waves, kisses, nods and smiles, lay behind them, the five of them turned their attention towards the wall of trees that rose up before them. Crossing that boundary from sand to soil had brought nothing but torment in days past. Though it was the very thing that kept them isolated, the sea had always been a sign of hope. From the time they had cast their first fishing nets out into its waters to the morning that they had watched a small wooden raft shrink over the horizon. But once you stepped foot into the jungle, the sea was gone. The sounds and smells of hope extinguished. And as this very thought meandered through Sayid's mind, a voice cut in. Richard's.

'Are you ashamed of me?' he asked just above a whisper.
Even though Sayid was walking behind Richard and at the very back of the group, he could tell that Richard was smiling.
'Try 'revolted',' he replied, cocking his gun, which made that illusive smile grow even wider.
'How you have changed Mr. Jarrah. So different from the man I used to know.'
'You never knew me and besides, I could say the same about you', replied Sayid in his most confident of tones, yet that smile still remained. Richard was up to something.
'I disagree. I'm still the man in charge. I still have people doing my bidding. I still follow my duties and not my feelings...'
'Feelings?'
'We both know Juliet shouldn't be here - Jack's heartrate shouldn't even be an issue! He shouldn't have a heartrate anymore. If you had done your job... if you hadn't let these 'friendships' with these strangers get in the way...'
'If I had done my-'
'No, no. There's no need to explain yourself.'
And now, as Richard turned his head for a second's glance, Sayid saw Richard's smile.
'You may have the gun, but so long as I'm your secretkeeper, I'm still in control.'
And with that momentary flash of a smile, Richard advanced up to the front of the line and patted Jack on the shoulder, 'How's that heartbeat Mr. Shepherd?...'

Jin and Greta had been walking for most of the morning. Their discussions had ranged from what life was like on the island before Flight 815, to the numerous romantic dramas that had recently been playing out on the island.

'Of course, Harper's always been that,' mused Greta snapping a branch distractedly as she walked, 'I really don't know how Goodwin puts up with it. Deep down he wants to be with someone else, but his life is here and that makes his options pretty slim. I think Harper knows it, that's what kills her, that's why she gets so rattled. Take for instance when-'
A rustling in the trees interupted her roundup of the island's soap opera. Jin flipped his rifel between his hands as Greta unholstered her pistol. The rustling grew louder and larger until suddenly.. a face appeared...
'Karl!?'
Jin lowered his gun, as did Greta.
'What are you doing out here?'
'Looking for you of course!'
'What do you mean of course?'
A smile flashed across Karl's face.
'It's dad. He's got a plan.'
'Good Lord,' sighed Greta rolling her eyes upwards, 'Since when did you start calling him dad?' Greta looked comically suspicious. Jin scratched his head and decided to count the leaves in a nearby tree.
'Well he is isn't he? Anyway he's got a plan and he needs you to come to the Barracks.'
'Your father couldn't plan his way out of a hula-hoop, let alone-'
'Would you just come already?'
'Karl, we've got work to do. Notice the guns?' Greta tapped the massive sniper rifle on her back, 'When mommy is packin-'
'-you can't be distracted. Mom, I'm not a little kid anymore. Trust me, it won't take long. Just hear him out,' he cocked hs head to the side, 'For me?'
Greta looked at Jin.
He had apparently counted his fill of leaves.
'We're both doing this for our families right?'
Greta rolled her eyes to the sky for the second time that morning.
'Fine. Lead the way...'

Day 33-3

ARZT

Desmond stood up and bellowed, "Arzt!"

Startled, Arzt flung his pen backwards out of his hand mid-sentence. "What Desmond? What is it?"

"Tell me EXACTLY how you plan on getting off this God Damned island?"

Arzt was a little miffed. He got out of his chair and approached Desmond. He could see the letter in his hand, and he read a little. “What’s wrong? Your woman breaking up with you?” The shock on Desmond’s face and the abject anger distracted Des from Arzt’s attempt to take the letter from his hand. Arzt was successful. “What? She wants to marry you! Congratulations!” Arzt started doing a little dance around Desmond whose anger was bubbling inside him.

“What’s up, man, you look like Mount St. Helens,” Miles said, walking over curiously. He got there in time to hold back Des’s arm from striking Arzt, who was starting to shake and quiver in abject bravery and manliness (translate = terror). Desmond feigned relaxing as Miles grabbed him and as Miles released him, he deftly tore the letter out of Arzt’s hand.

"It was written to someone else," Desmond moaned, and Arzt's heart just ripped. “I need to get off this damn island so I can…” he trailed off, then seemed to get a hold of himself. He looked into Arzt’s eyes, and Arzt was chilled by the haunted look. “Listen to me, brutha, please, I beg you. This,” he held up the letter, “is everything to me. I have to get out of this place. I have to. You don’t understand, but I would do anything. Please.”

Miles looked at the two and muttered, "Your girls gonna marry some else. Boo frickin' hoo."

Compassion welled up within Arzt like a stopped up toilet, and he bubbled over with a coughing spell to hide what Miles was saying. With emotive empathy, Arzt looked at Desmond and said, “Sure, brother,” he said with clear enunciation of the word, ‘brother.’ “You know that hatch thingee that we survivors found?” A sarcastic glance bored into Arzt, who continued, “Well, that place lies at the top of a big hill. There’s this whole complex underground. You should check it out sometime.”

“I am familiar with the Swan. I spent several bloody years in that GOD FORSAKEN PLACE!

“Woah, Bonds, lay off the juice,” Miles said.

“Well, on the north end of the hill, or wait, is it south? It may be the east though. I forget. Well, if you are going towards the hill, it’s on your left, but only if you are climbing the hill from the right direction, well, that is, the left maybe. But it all depends.”

Very seldom can you watch a thermometer filled with mercury rise. Temperature just doesn’t change that much. If Desmond had a thermometer us his butt, which was how Arzt felt he was acting, it would be climbing steadily at this point. Sensing the imminent combustion of flammable materials, Arzt plunged onwards, “It’s by the creek! And the cliff! There’s a cliff to one side of the hatch, and at the bottom of it is a clearing with a small pond. And on the side of the pond is our escape. It’s a hot air balloon.”

“Hot air balloon?” he asked incredulously.

“Yeah, my friends Henry Gale and Jennifer…, well, Jennifer landed it here. It looks like it crashed, but it didn’t. It was landed here on purpose. They made it look like it didn’t function any more, but there is a second balloon unit that can be hooked up, and fuel as well. Now that the Tempest has been destroyed, getting out of this place is a lot easier.”

“Then let’s get ourselves out of here. I need to take a piss anyway.”

“No,” Arzt said simply. Desmond looked at him and the thermometer climbed another degree. “Not ‘till I have Ben Linus. My friends, the Gales, I mean, Henry Gale and Jennifer,” he corrected, unwilling to admit that they were married, “died trying to complete there mission. I have to succeed for them, or their lives were meaningless. I won’t leave without Linus, and I won’t show you how it works, or what the codes are without him either.”

“Fine, I’ll go get Linus,” Desmond said as he began pounding on the exit door, trying to get someone’s attention, “I need to take a leak!” he demanded, waiting for someone to come.

Arzt smiled as he sat down to continue writing.

#2 People ALWAYS want help. It is good to give help all the time. And sometimes you are the only one who CAN help. Usually, you are the best one TO help.

CHARLES WIDMORE

Day 33
Entry 1

Charles Widmore was in a lurch. No word from Gault for days now. What was happening out there? Captain Gault was a man he trusted. More than competent. It was Martin Keamy he wasn't one hundred percent sure about. And that turncoat, James 'Sawyer' Ford as well. With the likes of those rejects aboard the Kahana, Widmore was quick to suspect foul play.

Much like with Sawyer, Widmore had worked with Keamy in the past. Enough to know what he was capable of. Martin Keamy could walk into a room, take out his gun, and pick people off one by one without remorse. Charles believed a mercenary like that was indeed a great asset... As long as his allegiances remained true.

Although not entirely trustworthy, Charles respected Keamy and his capacity for ruthlessness. Of course, ruthlessness was something Widmore himself, was no stranger to.

___________________________________________________________________________

Charles Widmore payed a visit to the offices of Bermuda's Maritime Operations and Seaport Security. According to the false translation he'd been following, he needed to procure a submarine.

"Can I help you sir?" asked a clerk upon Widmore entering.

"I need a submarine." replied Widmore quite matter-of-factly.

The clerk laughed at what seemed to be an obvious joke, "Well Sir, we don't just hand out submarines without taking the proper information..." he joked back.

Widmore was stoic. He pulled out his identification and placed it on the counter, "The name's Charles Widmore. I need a submarine."

The clerk's smile quickly faded. "This nutjob is serious" he thought. "Sir, there are no submarines at this seaport. As a matter of fact submarines are generally military vessels. They're never licensed to the public."

Widmore leaned in and was dramatically menacing, "Nonsense son. You're lying."

"Is there a problem here?" intervened another man.

"No." said Widmore as he reached into his jacket, "No problem at all."

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Miles, Day 33-2, The Best of Intentions

This could work. If Desmond and Arzt go get Linus, I can get Walt, then alert Abbadon to where Linus is headed and who he's with. Then I can get off this accursed rock and never come back. Hell, as long as Linus is with Arzt... wait, if Linus is with Arzt, then Linus will escape... or Desmond will fall off a cliff... or they'll leave without me and then crash into the ocean and somehow the ocean will catch on fire even though it's made of water, incinerating Linus, Desmond, and me even though he's already left without me, but Arzt would leave unscathed with his son. Is the balloon even big enough for six?

"Arzt, have you seen this balloon?"

"Yeah, Bruce-- err, Miles-- why do you ask?"

"Is it even big enough for six people?"

"Wait a minute, Miles... you said six people?" Desmond quickly counted in his head. Me, Miles, Arzt, Linus, Karl. That's five. "Who's the sixth?"

Miles lowered his voice to avoid being detected by any surveillance equipment. "Ummm, I figured we'd be taking Arzt's wife with us. After all, she's going to be persona non grata around here after helping us to get out," he lied.

Arzt wasn't sure why she wouldn't be allowed to be called Greta after she helped them escape-- maybe they had a rule on the island where if you betrayed them, you had to change your name-- but he agreed that it would be way too confusing for her to stay. Besides, how would she like being called Beatrice or something? What a horrible name. "Agreed Miles, we should take Greta with us, because she's no Beatrice." Miles and Desmond looked at each other, confused, but used to it by now. "But, what about that kid you came here for in the first place? You told me a few days ago that you wanted to rescue Michael Jordan's kid, Jameel or something? The balloon can hold seven, especially if one is a kid."

Even better. "You know, Leslie, thanks for reminding me. He is my primary focus-- I need to keep him safe, too. When we get out, why don't you two grab Linus, Karl, and Greta, and I'll go find Walt and we'll all go home."

Jack Shepard
Day 33: Entry 1

Jack, Sayid, Sawyer, Juliet, and Richard continued to advance towards the Radio Tower. Jack still felt sad that his friends were risking their lives. Juliet saw how sad Jack looked as he tried to keep up with Richard who was leading the group.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing.." Jack couldn't bring himself to tell Juliet.
"You're not very good at lying Jack."
"It's just that I always get like this when we go on a big journey that's all. Things always happen to us. Bad things. You'd think we'd learn by now, but if we don't do these things even more bad stuff will occur." Juliet patted Jack on the shoulder.
"It's okay Jack. We all know what you've been through." Suddenly Richard stopped dead in his tracks.

"What's wrong? Why did you stop?" The concerned look on his face said it all.
"We're not alone. Someone is nearby." Sayid pulled out his gun and Sawyer took the gun that Juliet had on the back of her pants. Sayid started yelling out at the top of his lungs.
"Whoever you are come out now!!" Shots were fired almost missing Sawyer.
"What the hell!!" Sawyer was mad that a bullet almost hit him.
"Everyone watch out!!" Richard dropped to the ground while Juliet and Sawyer ran for cover. Sayid tossed another gun to Jack and they both started shooting in the direction of where the other bullets came from. They were greeted with even more bullets practically almost missing them! Sawyer and Juliet took cover near a big rock and Sawyer popped his head out every once in a while and shot back. Sayid and Jack tried to circle around the enemy and attack in two different directions. Their plan didn't work out very well as whomever was shooting at them was keeping track of both of them. They both met again and hid near a bush.

"Who do you think it is Sayid?" Both men breathed heavily trying to regain their breaths.
"I think I have a good idea as to whom it might be..." They started to hear a loud noise like if someone was twirling something around. It got louder and louder until all you heard was a loud THUMP noise. Bullets scattered everywhere as Sayid and Jack ducked their heads. Sawyer remained in the back of the large rock..... but where was Juliet?!
"Juliet!!" Jack got up and started running to where he heard some heavy breathing.
"Jack wait!!" Sayid was right behind Jack.
"Are you guys nuts?!" Sawyer came out of his hiding spot and followed them as well. When they arrived they saw Juliet fighting another female! It was Rousseau!!

Juliet kicked her in the back of the knees making her bend down. She then went for some sort of roundhouse kick, but Rousseau blocked it and upper-cutted her in the face! Juliet then grabbed the arm that just upper-cutted her and she flipped Rousseau like if she was a pile of garbage! Rousseau lay in the ground breathing heavily as Juliet had her foot near her neck and was about to break her neck and kill her...

"Stop!!" Juliet seemed confused, but released Rousseau. She got back up to her feet trying to regain her composure.
"Who is she Jack? Why did she attack us?" Richard came out with some sort of large looking sling-shot. (The one that Ethan used to knock out Jin when he attacked Charlie in the tv show)
"She is the crazy French Woman." Jack stopped Richard from doing any harm to her.
"Her name is Danielle Rousseau and she is a friend of ours."
"Are you sure about that Doc?! She just tried to kill us!!"

"I am terribly sorry. I thought Sayid and Jack were in danger. But when you started shooting back at me I thought you were on their side now."
"It's okay Rousseau. We are working together."
"Where were you heading? Why are you working with THEM!" Sayid approached Danielle.
"Some people are coming to this island and we have to shut off your distress call so they won't locate the island."
"Don't bother. I already changed it."
"What?"
"I warned everyone not to come to this island because they would die if they did!" Everyone looked shocked.
"You did what now Xena?!" Sawyer was really mad now.
"After The Tempest exploded and Jack went missing I figured it would be too dangerous for anyone to come. So I went back and changed it warning everyone to stay away." Sayid, Jack, Juliet and Richard nodded their heads. Sawyer had to say a smart remark....
"Well that explains why Rambo and his men had all those guns and were ready for some action..." Richard was really angry.

"Do you realize what you have done? You just gave a much bigger bullseye to this island!" Sayid and Jack decided to help Rousseau out.
"Stop! It won't do us any good now! We just have to go to the Radio Tower and shut off the message!"
"Sayid is right. Danielle was just doing what she thought was best at the time. Now let's just keep heading towards the tower!"
"I will come with you." Sawyer didn't seem to like this idea.
"Don't you think you've done enough G.I Jane?"
"Sawyer shut it. Of course you can come along Rousseau. The more the better."

The six began to continue heading towards the Radio Tower.

DESMOND

Day 33
Entry 2

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

"HEY! CAN ANYBODY HERE ME? MY BLADDER'S ABOUT TO BURST!" shouted Desmond as he pounded away at the door. He turned back around and rested up against it for a moment. Miles and Arzt were discussing who was going to round up who before making their way for this balloon.

"A hot air balloon?" thought Desmond. He wasn't too sure on how much stock he should put into the things that came out of Arzt's mouth, but what difference would it make anyway. One more wild goose chase. One more fruitless last ditch effort. One more... "Wait... That's right!" It suddenly dawned on Desmond. He remembered that day when he first stepped out of the hatch. He remembered sitting against a tree, and downing the last remaining drops of water from his canteen. With his head cocked back he remembered what he noticed hanging high up in the trees. There really was a balloon! The red one with the yellow smiley face! He remembered it. How could he forget.

This refueled his efforts at the door. BANG! BANG! BANG! "HEY! GODDAMMIT! I HAVE TO TAKE A PI------"

A small peephole door slid open and a pair of dark eyes glared into the room, "What the hell is your problem?" asked a voice.

"We've been in here for hours. I have to take a bloody piss for Christ's sake."

"Fine." said the voice as he jingled some keys, "Here, put these on." He passed a pair of handcuffs through the peephole door.

Miles leaned over to Arzt and whispered "Is this guy for real? He's just gonna trust Desmond like that? How lucky are we to get the dumbest guard on the island."

Desmond put the cuffs on his left wrist and locked it into place, then he placed the other cuff loosely around his right wrist but did not fasten it. "Okay. I'm cuffed." notified Desmond through the peephole door.

"You think I'm just gonna trust you like that? Let me see your wrists." said the guard.

Arzt leaned over to Miles "Guess the guard's not as dumb as he appears. Never judge a book by it's cover... Oooh! That'll make the perfect number three for my list!" He licked the tip of his pen and spoke aloud each word as he jotted it down... "Never... Piss... Upwind..."

Miles stared at Arzt dumbfounded, "What happened to 'never judge a book by it's cover', dumbass?"

"Books? What books? Desmond's gotta pee."

Desmond had no choice but to fasten the cuffs all the way and show the guard. "Alright, stand back. I'm armed. One false move and I'll shoot all of you." As the door opened, Desmond turned to his comrades and nodded, assuring that he'd be back for them. "This way" instructed the guard as he lead Desmond at gunpoint down a long hall.

Desmond was patient, watching every step, waiting for his opportunity. They reached the latrine. Once the guard let down his rifle to push open the door, Desmond did not hesitate. He pinned him up against the door with his shoulder. The force of the blow coupled with the element of surprise knocked the rifle out of the guard's hands. Before the guard had a chance to counter with his own attack, Desmond ferociously landed a head butt knocking the man to the floor. He was out cold.

With his hands still bound, Desmond managed to fish out the ring of keys from around the unconscious man's belt and after a bit of trial and error, managed to unlock his cuffs. Taking the keys with him, he went to head back to free his friends, when suddenly he saw another armed man step into the hallway. Desmond's only option was to run in the other direction.

Bursting through the doors of the facility, Desmond stumbled his way into the jungle unseen. He tripped and fell just beyond the tree line, where he lied on his back trying to catch his breath.

=CLICK=

Seemingly out of nowhere, a rifle hovered aimed at his face.

"Mom! It's okay. He's with us." Desmond looked up and saw Karl come running up from behind Greta. She lowered her gun and extended her arm to help Desmond to his feet. "Karl. Thank goodness it's you."

"Where's my Dad?"

"Him and Miles are still in there, but I managed to escape with these." Desmond held up the keys with a crafty smile. But his smile quickly faded as he noticed another someone come walking towards him.

"Jin?"

"Desmond."

"Glad to see you're okay. No hard feelings, right?"

It took until mid afternoon, but Amelia was able to sit on a stool in the Orchid just close enough to the outside wall that Cindy could whisper through it and the two could communicate some. She sat comfortably on the chair as Goodwin fiddled with some molded machinery about forty yards on the other side of the complex.

"I saw Charlie again."

"The dead rock star?" Amelia asked. "He's a fine boy. What did he say?"

"He said I need to switch the valves under the Orchid to force all of the gas to be funneled to the Hydra.”

“Did he?” she asked, concern evident in her voice.

“Yes, and he suggested that I go and rescue the children before the gas is released.”

“I suppose there’s no stopping it,” Amelia considered. “Best be on your way then, Ms. Chandler.”

“I wish you could come with me.”

“I’m probably the only thing keeping Goodwin from letting the gas go as it is. It’s taken all I have to sabotage small bits and pieces of his operation. He keeps having to repair cables and wires, plug in different cords. He’ll figure me out eventually.”

“Aye. Charlie said much the same.” There was a short pause, and Cindy said, “Thanks for everything, Amelia. I’ll see you soon.”

Cindy slipped away and found a nearby entryway to the subway underneath the ground. The manhole led her to the tunnels, and she could very clearly see a large white pipe with caution signs coming from the Orchid above and leading down the tunnel. There were Dharma symbols over a relay box with large wheels that could be turned. She examined them, and determined which one was the Hydra. She tightened every one excepting the Hydra Station one, thus sealing off the pipes that led to the other stations. She thought briefly about turning the Hydra one too, thus forcing the gas back into the Orchid hopefully. She discounted the idea, however, after discovering that that wheel was decidedly stuck.

Obey, Cindy, just obey, she told herself. She turned down the tunnel and ran. She ran for hours and followed the tunnels under the waterway, back to the Hydra.

Juliet Burke
Day 33 ~ Scene 1
"I Know Your Type"

The group of 6 continued to advance towards the Radio Tower. Juliet saw Sawyer in the back of the group keeping an eye on Rousseau. She decided to go back there with him and keep him company.
"Hey. How are you holding up?" Sawyer just gave her a cocky smile.
"How am I holding up? What about you? You were kicking a_ _ and taking names back there!" Juliet couldn't help, but laugh.
"Yeah I kind of know how to handle myself."
"Yes you do. Those were some kick-ass moves you pulled off Sweet Cheeks." The two stopped talking for a little while until Juliet decided to continue the conversation.
"Thanks for saving me back there."
"What?"
"You saved me from getting shot at in the beginning remember?" Sawyer acted all innocent.
"That was little ol' me that did that? No problem." His warm smile just made Juliet smile right back.
"Can I have my gun back now?"
"Guns are dangerous mam are you sure you can handle one?" Sawyer pulled out her gun and teased Juliet with it. She saw a quick opening and took it. She snatched the gun right off him.
"Thanks." Sawyer seemed impressed.
"That was hot!" Sawyer then got closer to Juliet to the point where he was breathing down her neck.
"I know your type. I've been with women just like you." Juliet pulled back a little.
"Not exactly like me." Juliet thought this little converstaion was heating up a little so she decided to advance back to where Jack was. As she left Sawyer he just kept staring at her and smiling. Juliet brushed off her hair and also smiled right back.

(This takes place after Nathan's next entry)Nicole and Ana Luica
Day 33 - Part 2

Nicole had ran for a bit past some trees. She got tired and sat down. Hopefully she was far enough away that Tom couldn't find her. Nicole begin to think...she had just remembered that Walt was back on the other island..how was she gonna get there? She looked out at the ocean and saw a boat. She spotted 3 or 4 people...Ana's people, they must be. Nicole smiled and ran off to find..
Ana continued to move swiftly through the Hydra station. She sneaked past some men, and spotted the door. The light...she saw the light. There was a man with a gun guarding it. Ana snuck up behind him.
He turned around.
"I ain't Sorry dude"
SNAP.
His neck was cracked.
Ana ran out into the sun towards the water. She knew there was a boat down there. She had seen it days ago.
She jogged towards her destination, when she heard footsteps.
Ana took out her taser gun and pointed in the direction of the trees.
Footseps baceame louder until out came...

Nicole had found her. Nicole ran up and hugged Ana, who seemed a little caught offguard by this.
"Hey kiddo...I almost forgot about you" she said.
"Ana, I saw them!" she said happily.
"What, who?"
"Your friends, they're coming for you. On a boat!"
Ana smiled.
Nicole pointed out at the sea and sure enough, Ana could make out some of her people.
Nathan, was there anyway.
Nicole smiled.
"We'll wait for them."
Ana looked around and spotted a decent safe place to sleep for the night.
"We'll wait for them"

Day 33-3 or 4, or something like that. It might as well be 26 or something with how long these buggering things are.

Arzt, the true source of the Orchid gas

“I’m really excited about this!” Arzt declared to Miles as he continued working on his list for Karl. “I’ve learned a lot over the years, and it’s time that I passed it on,” he nodded confidently.

“So each of these has a story attached to it then?”

“Of course. Let me tell you about the last one…”

Arzt was in his late twenties/early thirties, and it had been a real tough year. Leslie had finally taken the plunge and moved up in the world. He took the step of faith and got a job. A REAL job. No more Mr. Cluck’s. Arzt quit the Chicken Mart and took a job designing junk mail flyers at a local agency in New Jersey. It was tough work. He spent all day working meticulously to create what he considered was true art.

It was a tough week. Arzt had a little virus, and he was coughing and slobbering quite a bit. He could tell that everyone was a little put off by his congestion, but what could he do? “Hmm…” Arzt wondered as he picked his nose. “Should I put the blond or the brunette on the Viagra ad?” he considered the size and moisture involved of the selected booger. Yup, time for dessert.

Arzt loved his job. He got to use the internet, and he had his own desk. They let him use the bathroom whenever he wanted, and there was no lunch rush to worry about. He was even getting ready to buy his first car. Arzt could already envision it – Arzt’s Love Shack, named after his favorite song by the B-52’s. It was a beat up old Volkswagon with baby blue paint. And in the back was the perfect place for Arzt to lay down with the hunniez. Yeah, Arzt was gonna be riding in style. Chicks would dig him, he thought as he wiped snot on his sleeve.

He didn’t exactly have the $10,000 for the 15-year-old used van, but he knew that he could pay the $200 with his new job. As he was considering this, and the Viagra ad, he began turning from internet page to internet page to find exactly the right fashion model for the pamphlet. And he found her on a… tasteful website. He clicked on the picture when suddenly all sorts of pop up ads began assaulting his vision. All over the cubical filled floor, people started swearing and complaining. It was happening to them too. How odd? Arzt wondered.

Later that day, his job let him go for infecting the whole office with his virus. He couldn’t believe it! The nerve of them. It’s like he wasn’t even allowed to be sick. And besides, they were saying he even made the computers sick. That just didn’t make sense.

He had gone to the used car dealership, and he stared lovingly at the baby blue Volkswagon. He couldn’t say no. Not with the saleslady telling him, “Oh, yes, Mr. Arzt, this vehicle was meant for you.”

“Do you think girls will like it?”

“Oh, yes, Mr. Arzt. They will have a strong reaction to it,” she confided.

After purchasing the vehicle on credit, Arzt made sure she had his phone number.

Well, months later, the car had been repo-ed and he had no money for his regular bills. The electricity and the gas were turned off, so he was freezing. Just a week ago, Arzt’s water was turned off, and he was forced to go outside and pee off his balcony since he hadn’t flushed his toilet in a week. The wind outside was howling, and Arzt pulled it out and the cold caused some immediate shrinkage. The boys were in full retreat, but the water wanted to flow. So Arzt turned and let fly, right up wind, and the results were disastrous.

All bloody over him. And it was, like, negative 10 degrees outside, and the piss just froze onto his best pair of corduroys too! It was caked on him, and before long, he smelled like a homeless man. He tried to stop at first, once he realized what was happening, but he just couldn’t – you know how hard it is to stop the flow once it goes!

“I learned a lot back then,” Arzt confided to Miles.

“Yeah, no kidding. Finances are tough man. And job internet stuff,” Miles grinned, stifling a chuckle. “Embarrassing, but important stuff to know.”

Arzt looked at him quizzically, “Well, the most important thing,” Arzt said as he scribbled a #3 on the paper, “is Don’t piss upwind..”

I will be editing in part 2 within an hour or so, because there is one more important thing to get out of the way before the day ends.

Nathan Rom
Day 33: Entry 2

Nathan, Hurley, and Michael were near the shore now. The three talked about possible plans to save their friends as they marched along.
"So any good plans dudes?" Hurley made their trek get delayed every so often as he was a big man and he would run out of breath faster. He stopped and began to drink from his bottle of water. Some of the water escaped his mouth and began to wet his shirt.
"I don't know... we sneak up carefully and shoot some Others I guess."
"That's not a very good plan man." Michael was right.
"Well i'm trying you guys give me a break." Nathan sat on a trunk of a chopped off tree.

"Here is another good question Nathan.... how the hell are we gonna get to the other island?"
"I have a small raft."
"Well at least you thought about that..." Nathan couldn't take it anymore Michael had caused him to snap. He went face to face with him.
"I know you are pissed that they have son Michael, but you don't have to take it out on me!" Hurley got in between to insure they wouldn't fight.
"Stop it you guys! We're all in this together!" Just then they heard some footsteps. Someone was heading this way.
"Hide!" Nathan, Hurley, and Michael hid near some bushes and awaited to see who was coming. Gabriel emerged running looking frightened and worried. He stared at the ocean pacing back and forth.
"Great! How the hell am I supposed to go to the Hydra now?!"

Michael got out of his hiding spot and yelled out Gabriel's name.
"Gabe?" Gabriel turned around and was excited to see Michael. He hugged Michael and brushed the sweat off his forehead. Seeing this Hurley knew it was safe to come out so he also came out. Nathan also came out hesitantly knowing that he was going to be in big trouble...
"You!!" Gabriel charged at Nathan and knocked him down to the floor. He punched him in his stomach and knocked all of the air out of him! Hurley and Michael looked confused and pulled Gabriel off of Nathan.
"What the hell is going on man?! Why did you do that Gabe?"
"He is the reason why I was captured by The Others in the first place!! Let me go Michael! I'm not done with him!! Let me go!!" Gabriel tried desperately to get free, but Michael held on tightly looking at Nathan expecting an explanation ASAP.

"He's right."
"Dude...." Hurley shook his head showing that he did not approve of that response.
"And I am sorry for that Gabriel! But right now we have bigger things to worry about!"
"That's it?! You're sorry?! That's all you have to say you son of a b_ _ch!"
"I was tricked by The Others to do their dirty work. If you want to hit me again I can understand.... let him go Michael." Michael released gabe and sure enough he punched him right in the nose!
"Owww you b_ _ch!! That hurt!!" Blood trickled down his nose.
"It's still not enough! You won't believe the things they made me do!! I went back in time for god sakes!! I am miserable!" (Cue sad Lost music) Nathan approached Gabriel and hugged him real tight.

"I'm sorry!" Tears ran down both their faces.
"You betrayed me... you were like my best friend man..."
"You don't know how bad I feel right now Gabe..." Michael and Hurley could feel what they must be going through and minded their business. Nathan released Gabe and then he punched him hard in the shoulder!
"Oww!!" This was not a good week for Nathan....

"Needed to give you one more lick before we were even. So what are you guys doing here?"
"We're heading to the Hydra just like you. We are gonna save our people. What about you?"
"Well Michael... Ben told me to go to the Hydra after he let me free."
"Why would you listen to him dude?" Gabe stared at Hurley and seemed confused.
"I'm sorry do I know you?"
"Umm no i'm Hurley." The two shook hands.
"Nice to meet you Hurley. To answer your question he threatened to hurt my friends who are being held captive right now."
"Who?" Michael looked worried.
"Arzt, Desmond, and Miles."
"We have to save them man!" Nathan pulled Michael back with one of his arms.

"They are on their own. We have to save everyone on that other island right now. We'll worry about them later."
"Just how do you guys expect to reach the other island?" Nathan walked just a few feet and went inside a real spiky looking bush. He came out with many thorns on his shirt and pants.
"With this." The small raft still looked good.
"Ouch that must have hurt dude. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Being poked by thorns is nothing compared to Gabe's punches." The four laughed and then their faces got serious again.
"Well.... let's go! You guys can explain to me why you have to save everyone on the way over there." All three nodded their heads as they pushed the raft back to the ocean and started to get on it.
"You can explain why Ben wanted you to go to the Hydra." The four got on the raft and it could barely support them!

"Dude this thing will not make it over there!"
"Of course it will Hurley... it's our destiny! Here we go!!" Nathan and Michael began to paddle the raft.

Part 2

Arzt continued to ponder his list and he and Miles fell asleep. Eventually, Arzt woke up to the door being opened.

“Greta!” he exclaimed sleepily as she and Karl entered.

“What is it, Arzt?” she demanded.

“Look, I need you to get us out of here.”

For a second, her hardened exterior cracked, “I can’t do that, Cassanova. Benjamin Linus is not someone to be crossed. He wants you in here. I can’t do it.”

“But mom, I wanna get out of here. Out of this place!” Karl protested.

“Out? How do you intend on doing that?”

Karl looked at his father. “I’d like to take him off with me,” he said, and pleaded quietly, “And I’d like you to come with us.” Greta just stared at him, not appearing to comprehend. “Look, Greta, there’s a storm coming to this place. I know it. I’ve dealt with… people and things here, and it doesn’t look pretty. Karl knows it. I know it. And we need to get out.”

“How do you plan on doing that?”

“Balloon,” he said. “I destroyed the Tempest so the magnetism won’t hold us in and screw up the instruments,” he recited from his brainwashing/training. “Now I have to capture Ben Linus, and get him to the balloon. Then we leave.”

Greta just shook her head in fear, “We can’t do that Arzt.”

Arzt looked at her and said, “I’m sorry, Greta. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you. I’m sorry I left you guys on your own so you had to come to this place. But I want to make up for it. I want to be a man now. I want to grow up and be a dad. And, if you will let me… a husband.”

Greta looked at Arzt with a vacant expression. Then she turned and walked out into the hallway, leaving the door open behind her.

“Wow, dad.”

“I pictured that going differently in my mind…”
